Late this afternoon, producers of the struggling 'Dead Outlaw' announced it will be closing June 29. When it closes, it will have played 14 previews and 73 regular performances. Three weeks ago, the open-ended musical was nominated for 7 Tonys, including 'Best Musical' and 'Best Lead Actor' in a musical. It left the theater empty-handed. After the Awards ceremony, it continued to struggle at the box office. That's 3 original, open-ended musicals which announced closing notices less than a month after the Tonys. All eyes are now on 'Boop' which is also expected to announce a closing notice sooner rather than later.

I don't know how a revival like 'Chicago' can play for 30 years (and counting) depending on 'stunt casting', but a revival of Cabaret can't. I'm surprised their stunt casting of The Emcee (and Sally in the past) hasn't paid off the way 'Chicago' did. I know the storyline of 'Cabaret' is much darker and depressing, but the music is still great and the audience seems to enjoy it.

50 years ago on June 20, 1975, the 'summer blockbuster' was born. Universal Pictures released a 'thriller' about a deadly shark coasting along a New England beach town, based on the 1974 best-seller by Peter Benchley. (Benchley was cowriter of the screenplay). The director was a largely unknown young man named Steven Spielberg (who had directed one television movie and one thatrical movie before this), who was soon regarded as one of the greatest directors of all time, with most of his movies gaining the title of 'the greatest movies in history'. 'Jaws' was filmed off the coast of Martha's Vineyard from May - October, 1974 on a budget of $9M. It would go on to gross nearly half-billion dollars at the box office, and kept millions of movie-goers from swimming in the ocean waters for years to come. Universal Pictures took a major gamble by doing a 'wide release' that day, releasing it to over 400 theaters and drive-ins around the country (never done to that extreme before). They waited until the first day of summer, and heavily promoted it via television, and print ads (magazines and newspapers) for weeks before it opened. By July 25th, it expanded to 700 screens and then 900 screens by August 15 - unheard of for any movie at the time.

The costly $23M+ 2024 revival "Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club" which has struggled at the box office for months, has announced a closing for October 19. It's most likely investors will recoup very little - if any - of their investment. Actor Billy Porter will take over the role of 'the Emcee' on July 22 from South African country singer Orville Peck, and close the show in October. ( Marisha Wallace will take over the role of 'Sally' at the same time, replacing current star Eva Noblezara). The musical-revival transferred from the West End with original stars Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin, becoming the hottest Broadway ticket through the Spring and Summer 2024 tourist season. The August Wilson theater went through a costly renovation to present the show 'in the round' like its West End production. It received mixed-reviews by critics, but was the most-nominated musical for the Tony Awards in 2024 (winning one, for Best Scenic Design - Musical). However, once Redmayne left and Adam Lambert took over as 'The Emcee' on September 16, 2024, the box office started to fall. Lambert, a former 'American Idol' contestant making his Broadway debut, stayed with the show through March 30, 2025 and was then replaced by Peck. The box office has continued to fall, hovering around 75% - 80% for months. For the week ending June 15, 2025 the show brought in around $762,000 at the box office, far less than the $1M+ weekly box office it needs to cover its costs. Meanwhile, the West End production (which set a record for most Olivier wins for a musical revival) is currently in its fourth year, with no signs of slowing down at the box office.

Lawyers for R Kelly say in new court documents that the convicted sex trafficker and singer was recently rushed to hospital after medically overdosing in prison. The 58-year-old reportedly collapsed on Friday at the federal correctional institute in Butner, North Carolina, which specializes in housing sex offenders, and was transported to Duke University hospital. In a new court filing on Monday reviewed by the Guardian, Kelly’s lawyers allege that he had been placed in solitary confinement on 10 June and was given medication by prison staff – along with “instructions to take it”. According to the filing, Kelly awoke in the early morning hours of 13 June, feeling “faint” and “dizzy”, and “he started to see black spots in his vision”. “Kelly tried to get up, but fell to the ground,” the filing alleges. “He crawled to the door of the cell and lost consciousness.” The document alleges that Kelly was then placed on a gurney and taken by ambulance to Duke University hospital. During the ambulance ride, Kelly reportedly overheard a prison officer say: “This is going to open a whole new can of worms.” At the hospital, Kelly’s lawyers say he “learned that he had been administered an overdose quantity of his medications that threatened his life”. They also say that he “required hospitalization for two days”. The Bureau of Prisons declined to comment to USA Today, which first reported the filing, citing “pending litigation”. Monday’s filing came after an emergency motion by Kelly’s lawyers in which they alleged that three Bureau of Prisons officials had orchestrated a plot to have him killed by another inmate. That motion requested that Kelly be released to home detention. Federal prosecutors have opposed that request. Continuing with the post-Tony fallout, the musical 'Real Women Have Curves' announced today it will be bowing out of Broadway on Sunday, June 29. When the curtain comes down for the final time, it will have played 31 previews and 73 regular performances. It had its first preview on April 1 and officially opened on April 27. Music and lyrics are by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez, who were Tony nominees just over a week ago. Justina Machado was nominated for a Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. The cast performed a musical number from their show on the CBS telecast last Sunday night, but it wasn't enough to drum up interest at the box office after The Tonys. The box office for the week following The Tonys dropped 9% from the week leading up to the ceremony, averaging just 63% of theater capacity. Real Women Have Curves to Close on Broadway PLAYBILL.COM The musical officially opened April 27 at The James Earl Jones Theatre.

Is "barely plumper than a pancake" the new "bubble butt"?

Read the first sentence of the OP again. The lead in to the sentence are the following words: "It's astonishing how many ads I come across where men claim..." 'Ads' on a forum primarily about providers (escorts and masseurs) suggests the post is indeed about providers. -
Is it standard for a provider to cum?
Ali Gator replied to cumconnoiseur's topic in Questions About Hiring
I have found masseurs find it easier to cum than escorts for me. Not sure why. I have a semi-regular masseur who always cums at the end of the massage. He's in his mid-30s and is able to cum a couple of times a day (according to him) - as soon as he wakes up and then once more later in the day. I book him earlier in the day for a late afternoon / early evening appointment and he always cums for me. I asked if he does this with every client and he says never - he considers it more 'escort territory' and he doesn't advertise as that (he also asked me not to let anyone else know if ever I refer him to a friend). This started around our third or fourth appointment (about five years ago), and I was pleasantly surprised. He usually cums all over my chest or face (I prefer face) and then he gets me off and I cum all over my stomach. -
Heading to my area. Anyone have any new info ? Cute guy, but I'm guessing mid-40s not 38 from the photos. His reviews are mostly from 2 years ago when he first joined RMass, with one from a few months ago. The 'rate paid' seems to be all over the place as one client booked a one hour therapeutic massage with him @ $250, and others booked a 90 minute sensual @$200. I wonder if he's offering more with each massage ?

That was quick - his ad expired and no longer on RM.

Is "barely plumper than a pancake" the new "bubble butt"?

We can add this to the list of descriptions providers don't understand the meaning of. So far: Smooth, light hairy, hairy - guys under 40 have no idea how to differentiate when looking in the mirror to describe their bodies. An no, if you have facial scruff but not a strand of hair to be found under your neck, you are not 'hairy' or 'lightly hairy'. Blond - No, brown hair (whether dark or light), red hair and black hair does not make you a blond. If you're unsure what color your hair is, ask your hair stylist. Round ass / bubble butt - see above OP. If your ass looks like a continuation of your upper back when looking at your sideview in the mirror, you do not have a round ass or bubble butt. And that's fine - there are clients looking for a flat ass. Eight inches - Before you even add this into your ad, please measure again with a tape measure (from the base to the tip, erect). Then measure again. And a third time. Then write down the correct number which is probably closer to 6 or so. 22 years old / 32 years old : These are the popular ages for men in their 30s / 40s+ respectively. Look at your driver's licenses. It shows the year you were born. Maybe shave off five years if it makes you proud, but not 10 - 15. It's not working for you. -

Emmy winning actress Jean Smart returns to the Broadway stage for the first time in 25 years in the new one-woman play,, 'Call Me Izzy', which is one of the first productions to kick off the 2025-26 season. The show runs for '12 weeks only' at Studio 54, though some who have seen the show in previews wonder if it will last that long. The show opened last night to mostly mixed reviews, with most critics praising Smart's performance but bored by the play itself. A look at seat availability for the next few weeks shows plenty of seats available throughout the theater (not a good sign). This past Sunday morning, Smart sat down for an interview on 'CBS Sunday Morning' (which was recorded the end of May). The interviewer discusses her return to B'way at the beginning and tells her 'tickets have been selling briskly' since going on sale a day before. Included here is the longer, unedited interview which took place.

He's probably as smooth as silk, and calls himself 'hairy' - because he has a full head of hair on his head (as one escort explained to me a few months ago, when I couldn't find a strand of hair on his 'hairy' body). These younger guys live in their own world.

In the past 6 months, I've had an interest in two different escorts who are newly located in my area. Unfortunately, their only way of contact is messaging via RentMen, no phone contact to text (or call). I don't want to waste time messaging / checking my emails for responses when our exchanges could be quicker and more immediate with texting (in 2025!). Does anyone know any reasons why a provider would not provide phone contact these days ? I doubt it's cost prohibitive, as every cell phone provider have affordable plans for a 'second phone' or 'second line' - so an additional phone / line could be dedicated to 'business'. I'm not understanding why these guys prefer RM communications and email. (On the opposite side, there are the providers who say to text them - don't use the RM messaging because they never check their messages).

Question for the forum re copyright
Ali Gator replied to + Twinkluvr's topic in Questions About Hiring
That was my very first thought. If I was reviewing a book here which is sold on Amazon, and I linked to the book's page / image despite my review (being negative / positive), there's no way the author would be able to call 'copyright infringement' on the review / link. This provider is using the word copyright with you in his response, but it's not the word he thinks it is to carry his argument. -

Post-Tony Fallout: SMASH announces it's closing June 22
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
Rose was never easy to cast ! The 1989 revival has an interesting history behind it... According to an interview years ago with Tyne Daly: Laurents realized it was time to revive 'Gypsy' on B'way around 1988. He was piecing it all together, but couldn't find the appropriate lead actress. One of his friends saw Tyne Daly guest starring on Dolly Parton's short-lived variety show on ABC in the spring of 1988, and happened to record it. (According to an interview with Tyne Daly, even though she was not a singer nor a musical actress, Parton had convinced her to do a musical segment on her show - they dueted together - and that was the performance the friend saw.) After the show, the friend called Laurents and said, "I think I found your Mama Rose!" and went to his apartment with the VHS tape. Laurents watched Daly's performance and was convinced - she was going to be the new star on Broadway. (Daly said when Laurents called her, she thought someone was playing a prank on her - it took her a while to be convinced that Laurents wanted her to come to NYC and audition for the musical). She admitted she wasn't great in that audition, but he had faith in her and offered her the job right on the spot. She became a Tony-winning Broadway star. For years, Liza Minnelli said she was offered the lead in the 1989 revival but turned it down - Laurents had denied that was ever true. He insisted he never even thought of Minnelli for the revival, never mind offer her the role. The only other actress he considered at the time was Bette Midler for the stage revival, but he never approached her about it idea. He found Daly, and that was that. (Midler ended up with the 1993 TV movie, which pissed off Daly, but that's another story). -

Did either actress replace the star of a highly-anticipated, big-budget musical, which simply can't sell tickets at the box office ? Did they replace the star of the show who was favored to win the Tony in her category but walked away empty handed ? I'm going to guess 'No' to both questions above, which is the current situation with 'Gypsy' right now. -

Because a name actress like the two you mentioned doesn't want to take over a sinking ship. This is a major reason why ALW had trouble filling the role of Norma Desmond in 1996 when Buckley was leaving Sunset Blvd. Though she was regarded as 'the best actress in the role' to many critics and fans, she was not bringing in a big box office since she wasn't really known outside the theater world. For the 13 months she was on the stage, the box office slowly eroded - it was not setting records like when Glenn Close was in the role. In her final months, she was filling the house around 70%. He knew he needed a name to boost the box office once again; someone the tourists from flyover states would flock to see on stage. He approached a number of celebrities: Cher, Diana Ross, Cybill Shepherd, Dixie Carter, Michele Lee, Olivia Newton-John, Tyne Daly, and many others were asked or offered the role. No one took it - no one wanted to walk on to a sinking ship. He ended up with Elaine Paige, a theater star on the West End, but a relatively unknown here - and she lasted 6 months.
