I see my regular guy once a month.  This guy is extremely popular, well-thought of and very much in demand.  We actually discussed this very topic after one of our sessions.  He whipped out his phone and told me that he received 50-plus text messages in the 2 hours we were together.   He also indicated this was the norm and that while texts slowed down during overnight hours he’d still wake up to a ton of messages.  I guess the point I’m trying to impart on Forum members is that it may not be humanly possible to rely to all texts with a lengthy text exchange.
 
These guys have a life outside of escorting, too.  They have their daily routines as we all do.  Put yourself in their shoes and how would you react to hundreds of emails on a daily basis?  
 
As an aside…..I learned a long time ago that the paltry $300 I fork over for a session is peanuts to the more popular providers.  He may be the center of my universe but I can guarantee you I’m not the center of his.  I’m a financial transaction, nothing more.

And I agree with others, communication for me is better to track on the website. I feel like that guys that I engage on the website are more responsive rather than via text. 

I mean no shade with this post. I think in any business, the salesman learns to weed out the tire kickers and time wasters, and lose patience when their radar blips. 
 
I’d be curious to know the ratio of how many providers the OP reaches out to “inquire” versus how many providers he actually hires and has a session with.  
 
Some of us on the boards have different experiences with setting up a session. Over the years I’ve surmised that those of us that close the deal 90% of the time have a different experience than those that hit up, audition, engage and evaluate dozens and dozens and various escorts before deciding on a hire.

Have to say the curt responses are a huge turn off and will almost always make me check out other providers. For $300 I sort of expect responses that are more than one word. Its fine when texting friends but not when someone is looking to drop some nice money on time with you.

Absolutely. And also think that texting has evolved into an etiquette where laconism and straight to the point are highly appreciated. 

Think about the number of texts they're getting and the knowledge that maybe one or two will result in an actual appointment.   To me it's the same as calling a business and being asked to hold while they assist someone else.

Most of the basic questions that get asked are already answered in the advert or website. It gets quite tiring to answer the same questions by text. 
I get “hi what’s your rate?”….”when are you available?”. I get a lot of messages like that. So sometimes the answer “please see my website” might seem curt, but it’s really just to avoid lengthy exchanges by text.

Also, if the first question is “what’s your rate” the likelihood is it’s too expensive for him. You learn to avoid wasting too much time on that kind of thing.

Jokes aside, 95% of the clients expect their escort or erotic masseur to have a big one, even if they are not size queens. That's how the market works. The guys that have a big one typically charge more because there's more demand for them. It's economics 101.
If we pretended that penis size didn't matter when hiring an escort, erotic masseur or stripper, then we would just be delusional.

My operating principle is that the provider is entitled to ask what he wants and the client is entitled to accept that or not. I see two guys regularly and our relationships are of 6+ years duration. One established his price and I always pay that and never haggle or ask for a discount. He is scrupulously honest, one time telling me that I inadvertently overpaid him by $20 so to deduct that from the next time. Another time I dropped some bills on the floor and he texted me afterwards telling me he found the money and would return it when I saw  him next. The other guy has refused payment in the past and told me he doesn’t really care if or how much I pay him. I always try to treat him very fairly though out of my respect for him and the connection we have established. I don’t know what either of these guys charges others and I don’t really focus on that.

I think this is correct.  I’ll also add that “discounts for hot” are a myth that certain sex workers encourage as a sales tactic.  I’ve seen ads in the past where the worker suggests that there’ll be a discount for hot, a certain body type, or hung, but given that the worker doesn’t have a listed rate, a client has no way of telling whether he’s getting a discount!
Also, given the number of guys on Rentmen I who also have Grindr or Scruff profiles for recreational use, I doubt that there’s much motivation to discount for a “hot client” when there’s ready access to whatever they consider “hot” at their fingertips.

I've had a handful of escorts reach out to me on Rent.men, after me having viewed their profile -- and be all over me to get together. This isn't just the "Hi I noticed you viewed my profile. Some of them are looking for business, yea, but others based on what they say or is in their profiles, I know I am their "type" in general, so they're looking for fun in many cases.
One I told where I would be that evening (at which bar out in their city) and they showed up and we wound up going home together no money involved since they chased after me. 
However, this is typically a turnoff. I enjoy the 'chase' aspect of a meetup just as much as the actual acts themselves, and don't really like someone being all over me. 
As a client, I would never engage someone unless I was ready to fully pay their offered and advertised rate for the time I need. No such thing as a free lunch on either side. There's *awalys* strings, lol. 

As a client, I received discounts multiple times from escorts as well as erotic masseurs. I never meet with a provider unless they share recent face and body pics and I share my pics with them. The primary reason why I do this is to avoid any surprises, from both a provider's and a client's point of view. This is what usually happens: I send a text asking if the provider is available, if they are, I will ask what their hourly fees are. Then I will ask exactly what services are included in those fees and if we are on the same page, I will ask for recent face and body pics. If the provider sends their pics, I will reply with mine out of respect. 
At this point, the tone of the negotiation completely changes more often than not. I can tell that most providers become a lot warmer and less distant in their messages, to the point that some of them offer to meet for a lower price than they had originally said before seeing my pics. If the original price was $200, they would often be willing to meet for $140 or $150.
So the idea that providers are not willing to give a freebie or at least a discount to a hot guy is pure BS in my personal experience. And I'm not even hot, I'm just an athletic 45-year-old guy, 5'11, 176 lbs. I like to work out and keep in shape, but I don't have a six pack and never will. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of discounts and freebies I would get if I were a hot 35-year-old closet case - perhaps married with kids - who would find it much easier to contact and pay for escorts than getting caught looking for guys on a dating app or at a gay bar. Quite frankly, we all know that those clients do exist, probably many of them! No offense to anybody, but whoever thinks that for an escort there is no difference between sex with a hot 35-year-old and sex with an ugly 65-year-old is either delusional or completely out of touch with reality. We are all human and so are sex workers.
Another reason why I am saying this is that I know for a fact that a friend of mine, who is 17 years older and 50 pounds heavier than me, paid a higher fee when he hired some of the same escorts that I had previously met with. He sometimes paid $50 or $100 more.
