Speaking of tips, here’s one: When a guy asks for an unreasonable discount, just reply that, sorry, it isn’t possible. That’s all you need to do. Trying to school him with a comparison like your shopping-in-a-store analogy or suggesting he go back to other providers from his past is unprofessional. The table gets turned: It reflects poorly on you, when he’s the unfortunate one with the issue. 😉

Nope. It’s more than gauche or bad form. It’s obnoxious. And no one is defending the foolish ask. But a provider’s response is part of his public profile; having read this one, which is likewise obnoxious overkill, I’d never even consider a hire.

I also had a less than stellar experience with him when he advertised as Billy Blaze. Same sketchy, dirty basement apartment, and there was no real attempt at a massage as he (wrongfully) assumed I was there for more of a full service situation.

This blog is great. Thank you for posting it. It should be required reading by all clients.

@MmM and others who tip at a spa but not for a private masseur… serious question, not trying to attack you or be a hater. I agree each person can do what works for them.

My question: Does this mean you would never tip a provider for escort services when it’s an in call? After all, they are self employed as well.

In my mind a tip means “thanks, that was good,” full stop. I don’t really understand the rationale of not tipping based on where the service happens. Not that your approach is wrong of course, since tipping is optional anyway.
A masseur who has a private business out of their place has gone to more trouble than a spa employee: setting up a website or online booking service, dedicating a space in their home to the activity, having a table, having to deal with the dirty towels, etc. Sure, they don’t have to give a cut to the house but that’s because they went to some extra effort. Don’t they deserve a tip if the experience itself was good, just like a spa employee?

So earlier today I asked my favorite self employed masseur the percentage of people who tip him. He claims 98% (and yes, he told me he keeps track of each client and how much they tip or don't). He also sent me a link to a blog for helpful information. No idea how old this is, but it was definitely interesting...

We know that shit happens but that type of behavior is very inconsiderate of the masseur's time schedule.  Did that client think that only his fee would pay the masseur's rent?  I've been to doctors & dentist offices where they will refuse to see a patient if they blew past their scheduled appointment.

I believe that if you want continued great service (or increasingly better) service, tipping is a wise choice. I was chatting about tips with a local masseur who was honest that while everyone gets a great base massage, those who tip regularly get better service with scheduling preference and "extras" on the table. Just keep that in mind.
Also with masseurs who work for themselves, know that they are probably paying at least 5% if you us a credit card or other electronic payments.
I would think that it is important to tip when you are late, early, shower at their place, rescheduled your appointment or have any special requests like "keep the room hot" or "wear x clothing" or "I need to remain anonymous" or "no oils or scents" or music requests etc. I remember reading a bad review years ago from a client who apparently showed up 30 mins late (due to traffic and parking) showered at the masseur's home before the massage and was offended that he only got 75 mins on the table instead of 90 mins (even though he had now taken up two hours of the masseur's time). All I could think when I read that was it was the masseur who should be writing the bad review about the client and you know the guy would not have tipped either.

To be honest I'm one of those guys who's always hoping it turns erotic 😉 it's never happened to me at a spa setting, but I've had massages from independent guys that gave no hints of erotic during initial contact but turned into what I'd hoped. The 'pressing their crotch' against your hand approach has happened several times, and moving my hand in response usually ended up with them dropping their shorts entirely.

To be fair, that is suggested in his ad, when he says he offers “theta healing massage with Quantum psychology.”

Consider that a masseur’s pricing is his way of screening out clients who are not the kind he wants, and to limit the number of bookings he has to fit his capacity.
You might look at his ad, pics etc and say he’s pushing it. That’s his intention - he’s screened you out without even having to handle your enquiry.
There’s loads of potential clients who want to pay a lot less than £130 or so a hour for a sensual massage. Or even pay nothing…just look at the numbers looking for ‘massage exchange’ where they expect a massage for free in exchange for giving one back. That end of the market is big.
One could fish there for business by setting a lower rate but you’d get all sorts of time wasters, cheap clients and those who know the price of everything but the value of nothing. I certainly don’t want those kind of clients. If they do somehow contact me their first question is often “do you do discounts?” or “what’s your best rate?”. Those clients don’t get to book.
When I first started I had an enquiry from a client who asked about my rate. He said he really wanted to book but my hour rate was too much for him and would I discount? He said he’d “definitely become a regular” (a common phrase used by such clients by the way). I declined to discount it so he went away….for a week..and then asked again. Same response “no discount, sorry”. Eventually he agreed to the rate and booked an hour.
I was surprised that he actually turned up on the day, but he did…and had the massage, which he said he enjoyed. I always ask for payment afterwards and at this point he says “oh I’ve only got £x on me, is that ok?”. I said “no, we agreed £y but I’ve a card reader so you can pay the balance (about 40% short of the agreed rate) by card”. He said “he didn’t want the transaction appearing on his account”. He then promised to pay the balance next time or to do a bank transfer when he got home. I declined that and told him I’d walk him to the cashpoint where he’d draw the balance and pay me. That’s what we eventually did. Total waste of time.
Lesson learned: never book ‘low rent’ clients.

I think you may want to look for a professional Cuddler (yes.. its a thing).    There was a guy on RM that used to advertise as a cuddlist in Chicago
Cuddlist.com seems to be the most "authentic" site, but there are others you may want to try (where you are hiring a "professional" certified cuddler.)
Cuddlecomfort.com seems to be more a community to find like minded people that want to cuddle

Been there. Had Amour aka Jason. Similar to Thai Wellness (been there also) but this place isn't as private, curtains for each space. Definitely had extras at the end. He's not as experienced and focused as the others at Thai Wellness.
