I saw him yesterday for my 2nd visit. The epidemic must be spreading. He was suddenly social distancing from my privates too, in complete opposition to my first massage 💆 with him. Guess I should have gone to Thai Wellness as was my initial impulse

    a recent Google review:
THE COFFEE WAS COLD EVERYDAY. What more can I say? There were 5 large containers of coffee each morning and only 1 was ever hot. It might have been the Decaf or the Light Roast....one never knew which it would be. That fact alone was hard to believe. I was there for a beginners meditation workshop and I didn't experience it as particularly helpful. I was with a beginner meditator who also didn't find it particularly helpful. Poems were read daily and, to me, they were far beyond beginner level. Esalen is an amazing location, that cannot be denied. I just can't understand the coffee situation and I might as well stop there.

I hate it when masseurs randomly text me. Part of me understands that it's their way of drumming up business so I forgive a text here and there. However, I did have one guy who was relentless so I taught him a lesson. I sent him a text like I was a jealous boyfriend snooping on my phone accusing him of sleeping with me. I played "dumb" at first with a "I don't have your number saved. Who's this?" reply and asked for a pic. After he replied, I said I was the bf and now I had proof "he" was cheating on "me". Never heard from that masseur again. 🤣

Is it a loss of face to say you can’t afford it right now? One way I’d consider approaching it is to say something like: “I love meeting with you and really enjoy our sessions. Paying for your time can be a stretch for me, so I only contact you when I feel I can comfortably afford it. I’ll have to pass right now but I hope to hit you up soon.” It tells him to back off but leaves the door open for when you are ready.

I finally ended my MF membership last month. I’m sick and tired of all the strict policies, exorbitant fees, and low return on investment. I have been on the fence about leaving for a long time.
To make the decision, I conducted a test. I ran generous specials for two weeks, something equivalent to 50% off, just to see if that would attract a lot more inquiries. I expected many, but only got a few hits, mostly from visitors.
The visitors business doesn’t really help because the idea is to bring in new potential repeat business, not someone who would likely see me only once. I appreciate the bookings, but tbh these people would have booked me at full price anyway.
The other hits were from clients who also viewed my RentMasseur ad and were asking for the discount. One of them booked me through RentMasseur and then a day later viewed my MF profile and asked after the fact if he could get the MF special I was running. That was the last straw. I canceled his appointment, telling him that I could no longer give him 100% of my effort. I would rather not have the appointment than deliver subpar service knowing this client is willing to pay full price but now isn’t because I was running the deep discount test.
I canceled MF right then and there. No regrets. I get plenty of business from RentMasseur. If anything, I am using the savings to double down boosting my RM ads with paid extra advertising features. So far it’s working nicely.
So basically I have been paying MF a steep premium for the privilege of having to discount to get new business…when all the while most clients are viewing my RentMasseur ad anyways. And many of them are willing to book me at my normal rates. The value is just not there, at least not for me.
MF works best for therapeutic only providers.

I checked and it's fine for me.  I have heard from a number of providers that they have dropped their accounts from the site for a number of reasons - most popular is 'to save money' (I guess they are an unnecessary advertising expense). Other providers have said that it's not worth it since there are so many 'restrictions' on the site - from photos to text. Unless you're strictly therapeutic (with no wiggle room) and fully clothed throughout the appointment, MF is not for you (so I've been told). You can't even 'hint' in your texts that you offer erotic.

    Honesty is the best policy.
You shared this with us. You need to share this with him.
Nothing wrong with a provider doing follow ups with a regular. He is running a business. He is merely trying to manage his cash flow. Many of these young guys (if he IS a young pup) need guidance on these details. As far as I know most of these guys don't take courses in how to run a massage/escort business.  If you feel he's being too aggressive, SAY SO.
You say you enjoy the service and you enjoy the company, so I don't understand any of these people telling you to "LIE" or to "BLOCK". That is terrible advice. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot

Funny, how he waited until after the massage, to tell you that... Sorry I call complete BS. He was just using a convenient excuse. Good on you for calling him out on the the lack of sensuality and the payment he would have accepted had you not said anything.
Maybe he's engaged, that's great, but he's still advertising sensual massage and still has highly suggestive photos on his profile... My thoughts are his happy endings are YMMV, and his soon to be hubby may or may not be aware of it... I'm leaning towards very aware, and he's cool with it.

I take many fewer fliers on new people than I did at $120-140. I stick to known quantities. If new guys want to build a business they need to provide a “soft opening” rate to build a business and not start at full (high) prices.
I have 4-5 regulars that I know and trust who charge $180-$200 for excellent service without tip expectations. I see them regularly without any drama or disappointment on either side.
They appreciate the consistent business and respectful encounters and I appreciate the good and reliable service sans ridiculous cash grabs. We all win over and over and over.

$400 for a fully clothed sensual massage with no HE is crazy. I’m sorry, my friend, but you were taken to the cleaners. 90 minutes notwithstanding, that’s overpromised and under delivered. I’ve hired masseurs recently who did much more for much less, and I don’t have any illusions as to my ability to set their pulse racing with anything but my money. I won’t even begin to comment on him mentioning his engagement during the massage. He was either dishonest when scheduling or dishonest during the massage and neither behavior should be rewarded.
I truly hope others aren’t supporting this provider at that price. The LA market is expensive enough.

Considering his equipment, I highly doubt he’s FtM. If he is, I want to meet that surgeon for an…inquiry.

I wouldn't generally make a distinction between someone who currently holds a license and someone who had one but let it lapse, assuming they were still working. I would think keeping your license in most states just means you paid a fee. It's not like your knowledge disappears when that happens.

Yes I agree with this. It’s great when I get a responsive client. They don’t need to speak, just respond with positive reactions to what I’m doing. It’s especially noticeable when I start with some head massage and I can see their body relax and hear that long out breath as all the tension leaves them. As a masseur you get used to seeing the signs, they don’t need to be overt (indeed it sometimes feels performative if the client is writhing around and exclaiming pleasure at every touch), subtle almost subconscious indications are all I need to know that what  I’m doing is working. And then of course when he turns over the bodily signals are rather more obvious 😉.

I regularly see three masseurs who aren’t licensed, and I’ve had nothing but great experiences. Why? Because I curate the session by speaking up about what I want and where I need the work. Just lying there in silence and then leaving a lukewarm review? That’s on the client, not the masseur.
If your masseur is working your calves or thighs—let them. And when they hit the perfect rhythm, like playing the fiddle just right, say something. Tell them, “Keep doing that, I love it.” Don’t let them move on until you’re ready. That’s just common sense—and no license can substitute for clear communication.
I see a lot of hate directed at masseurs here, but honestly, most of it comes from clients who don’t speak up. From the masseur’s side, they’re considering things like whether you’re on blood thinners, if you bruise easily, or if going deep into your glutes might trigger a sciatic flare-up.
Bottom line: if you want a great massage, be present and vocal throughout the session. That’s how you get exactly what you came for.

This guy is as bad as they come. I hired him about 3 years ago. My standard practice is to send pics of me. He talked about how “handsome” I was when he received said pics and that he thought it would be a good experience.

When he showed up, he seemed more “seedy gay” than in his pics. I don’t know precisely how to describe, but I know many of you know what I’m talking about. He just exuded “bad.” He also didn’t come across as straight like his pics. He wasn’t as handsome in person.

The massage wasn’t much. During the massage he talked about his “partner” and all of his sexual conquests. He also talked about a sex party he was having the following weekend with only young hot guys (I’m 50 and gay in LA, mind you).  None of this conversation was solicited.

To add insult to injury, I had asked for an erotic massage and he began to tease me. He then stopped and told me if I wanted “that” it would be another $100. He never told me about any up charge before. Still, I would have been ok if he had not teased me “there” with his tool. I mean, c’mon. I politely told him thanks but no thanks.

Maybe he has improved since then. Maybe I was put off by his obvious bad gay man karma when he walked in and he noticed that. I definitely would not repeat based upon his hooker-ish behavior and lack of true massage skills.
As an aside, I wish posting age were mandatory on this site. I get the impression that many masseurs provide far better service to people below a certain age. The rave reviews above come from people with handles with “boy” and “jock”. This is consistent with what Pony told me his type was (again, entirely unsolicited and unwanted—totally inappropriate when massaging a mature man).
