I’ve been pretty stupid and got stood up/got my appointment canceled while I was on the way over to see an escort a few times this month. I’m pretty new to hiring and was wondering if people usually call ahead to confirm an appointment. Do you find texting/calling ahead helpful, or do most cancellations happen last minute and there is no point in calling? How far in advance do you usually send a reminder? I was thinking I should have handled these as I would my haircut or doctors appointment, but not sure whether it is common practice to do so. Thank you!

I usually send a text a half hour before I head over. Also ask in that same text that the service provider let me know if he is running late. I don't usually call, texting works for me. If it is an appointment arranged a few days before, I will usually text earlier in the day, say around 11am to check in as well.

I always text in the morning for my typical mid-afternoon appointments and let the escort know that I’m alive and well and looking forward to seeing him. I always get a nice response. Then I text about 30 minutes before to report whether I’ll be on time or a little late (NEVER early). That sometimes gets a response that he’s running a little late, which I appreciate knowing before I get there.

If you are meeting for first time then confirm day before, four hours before , ,hour before and while leaving home! Many clients flake on the escorts and then escorts have nothing in their hand. They may loose some potential client due to blocking for the flake client! Due to this many escorts take multiple bookings and then cancel few clients at last minute. For regulars when you build up enough trust a day before advance communication will be enough. Also, keep the escort updated about your delays or any unseen situation.

Naturally, I don't have a problem with my regular. When I hire a traveler, I usually tell them I will confirm a few days before, the day before and the day of. I text, which allows the provider to see it without having to answer a call or listen to a voicemail.

On the providers side, there is always the possibility the client will not show up, so there is a need to balance the confirmations with barraging them with messages.

If you don't mind my asking, how does getting stood up make you stupid? When did you set up the appointments?

Hi. These appointments were made at least 4-5 days in advance. I felt stupid because I knew I should have sent a confirmation/reminder the day before or the morning of, but I didn't. I am learning a lot from you guys here and I really appreciate it!

Hmmm...I wouldn't call it being stupid. Yes, I always confirm - unless the escort confirms first, which is often the case. It is a two-way street.

Once an appointment is made, regardless of how far ahead of time, I expect no need to re-contact unless I must cancel. Personally, I absolutely hate it when I get relentless texts and voicemails asking if I'm still planning on coming for a second time or more, and I WON'T re-book. I've been burned way too many times with "last minute emergencies" on the part of possible newbies to see, scrambling to find an unexpected replacement.

It's funny how my visits range from "worst person I've ever massaged" to "You're a great guy and I look forward to seeing you soon". The former was 3 years ago, the latter last week, so I've gotten better. :)

I don't think this is good advice for the person asking. I suppose one could feel contrite knowing that an appointment was made three weeks in advance and that an escort has screwed up when he fails to report a schedule problem. But what does that accomplish? Why not send a simple message a day ahead confirming? This wouldn't be the start of relentless texts. It would be a wise business move to ensure that all is well. Maybe last minute emergencies will occur occasionally, but I stick with the recommendation that a follow up confirmation is the better course.

I agree with this 100%.

I’m not your secretary and it’s not my job

to remind you to show up for work.

I don’t mind a text from an escort the day

of our appointment to “reconfirm” but it’s

not necessary.

I only send adddtional texts if I’m running

late, need to change times, or have to cancel.

I like dealing with professionals who take

their job seriously. Yes, I’m sure I’m missing

out on the occasional disheveled, disorganized

and perpetuallly stoned 20 year old.

I’m fine with that.

Point taken, you're a gentleman but you have to think the amount of loser/players escorts deal with on a single basis.

I've seen a guy for at least 6 years here in DC, every time he tells me: send me a text when you're are on your way. He asks the same thing to other clients, yinz can't believe the number of guys who instead of texting him when they leave their home they text him once they get to his place. Why he does it: because shit happens, that's why.

Me too. Best practice, I think. I'll text day before, morning of to confirm. text again when headed over if I'm travelling to him. About 50% of the time, dude will have texted me a confirmation first. Actually, I don't give exact location (address, hotel, room number, whatever) until day of, and most guys I meet don't either. If the guy doesn't respond with at least a "still on" after two or three day-of pings, I send him a text cancelling (only happened once).

On cancellations, I've had a couple of last minute ones -- one guy whom I was meeting after Folsom who called and basically said he'd had too many beers and wouldn't be much "fun" (for which I was grateful), and another guy (totally weird) who said he had to cancel because his BF wouldn't let him go unless I hired them both. Took a pass on that one, thanks.

Been fairly lucky in terms of very few no shows. Only one where I never heard from the guy again, and one where the guy called me up 5 hours later, told me he'd injured his knee that afternoon (complete with pictures of swollen knee and knee brace) and passed out on pain pills before our appt.

Long-winded way of saying -- just check in with him. It will save you time and nerves.

After reading many of the posts, I think I will adopt the policy of at least texting the day before the appointment requesting a confirmation. I guess the escort will at some point be able to at least text an answer. If I do not hear then I am not sure if I will simply try again the next day (the appointment day) or assume that it is a "no go." As there was an attempt at confirmation, I will not regret not appearing.

My experience is that the "professionals" almost always ask for a confirmation email or text the day before, or the day of, an appointment that's been set up in advance. Or they email/text me themselves.

A couple of times the confirmation meant nothing: I arrived to find no one home!

In this situation where it has been more than one time (and I have allowed the situation to repeat) I would probably make sure I make a note of it in the Forum. I can't write a review obviously but there is nothing to stop me from noting the circumstances as they occurred.

I have made appointments weeks ahead of time. As noted in another thread, it's to assure I get a chance to see a traveler when our schedules may have a limited overlap. I think it's only fair to both sides to confirm as a "far-ahead" appointment approaches.

Another reason I confirm is that some providers seem to have difficulties in remembering when an appointment is for. Over the years I've had a couple of situations when the provider has replied with "Oh, our appointment is for tonight? I thought it was for tomorrow." The fact is where some providers are completely on the ball, know when all their appointments are, some are not so organized. If I don't know how organized the provider is, I try to make sure my appointment happens.

I always confirm an appointment the day before by text. At that time I tell the guy that I will text him when I leave home and again when I arrive at his place. I also state that I will NOT under any circumstances arrive early but will text him if traffic delays me. I arrived fifteen minutes early for my last appointment and waited in my car reading until the exact appointment time.

I wouldn't confirm a work appointment. We all share the same calendar system, I consider it my own responsibility to keep up with meetings I've accepted. I work with a guy who just got called out, publicly, for consistently showing up late (like 20 minutes late) to meetings he's organized. This was after doing that for three meetings in one day. Kinda fun to watch

Two different people; one a masseur, one an escort. While I didn't post anything publicly, I replied by PM to several forum inquiries about the escort.

You wouldn’t with an OUTSIDE person for a work thing? That’s nuts.
