For a 48-month period a decade ago I was smitten (lust-wise) with a stripper in my city at the time. I spent $1,000 monthly for his attention. Very basic vanillish but wildly arousing. Seemed like a lot at the time but I took on extra work to cover it. He got about $50,000 tax- free. I eventually lost interest and he his cash cow. My fickle-ness usually kicks in after a few days!

Now retired, have to travel for decent full-on full-menu sex. But I like the destinations. Now I have a decent non-touched nest egg Inwill likely never spend, and about 75% my previous net income coming in regularly. My basic home base expenses eat up about one-third of the new monthly income. The remainder, about $3,ooo monthly, goes to travel that is basically mostly sex-centric but I do have a "life" and feel freedom from the stress of employment.

I don't watch the 'money out' like a hawk but seem to be able to balance the ledger. I have frequent hot exciting sex with many gay for pays about 3-4 months of the year. I think I directly hand over to them a total of $12,000-$15,000 a year for these exchanges., comparable to the decade-old budget. I never previous to mid-50s had a very interesting and fun sex life. Just endless searching for tricks few and far between. Generally people-pleasing. Now I am making up for lost time. No guilt. No regrets. I worked hard and saved. With luck, have many years of hot sex ahead of me with fellows who would be a dream for me when I was their age. It's not love but it suits my temperament and is not depersonalizing. I have never been happier when it comes down to basic sexual pleasure.

I am gym-fit and healthy with regular OK looks. I actually feel more comfortable, paradoxically, with hetero/bi-ish sex workers who should not be very attracted to me than I am with ostensibly gay sex workers who might be as picky as me about who is attractive. I find it easier not to deal with assessing (i know ... silly psycholog obsessing) how much I might fit their potential erotic template. The straight guys have also trickled down from the vast male stud population to a cohort of extremely finessed performative labourers. Their "arousal", though probably out of sync with true subjective pleasure, is convincing and shockingly skilled. They are a statistical rarity but discoverable in large clusters, in Brazil for example.

I have a healthy psychological relationship with my money and do not irrationally fear poverty. This emancipation contrasts with many wealthy sexually anorexic or deprived peers. I want to throttle them. By the winter years I think it s so sad to be hung up sexually and tight-fisted with cash.

Are you kidding? I almost feel like I am the Kevin Slater of clients.

I shall not challenge any claim to be the Kevin Slater of clients although I hereby declare that I am as deserving of that title as anyone. :) .... For the last 20+ years, I've been recording every purchase, payment, credit card charge and miscellaneous cash outlay in Quicken. Each Quicken entry is tagged with one of 60+ budget categories, including several representing different flavors of rentboy spending. While others might be watching porn, I'll be busy using charts and graphs provided by Quicken, or exporting to a spreadsheet for additional analysis. I freely admit to being a numbers geek (freak?). So, let's compare the size of our spreadsheets and see who has the bigger one. :D  ;)

I see an escort or /masseur once a week. Luckily for me my regular has worked out a very accommodating fee. Been seeing him for over 14 months. He's the greatest. It affords me the ability to dabble with other hot guys and depending on my mood or who I want to be with I can do that. The way I look at it I've earned this right now that I'm sort of comfortable earning wise. Plus these men make my life so much better. The cash out lay doesn't come in the equation so long as I've managed my budget and libido.

I've kept track since the beginning of my hiring, probably because a few decades ago I was I had credit card debt because I didn't follow a budget. I started following a budget and keeping track of discretionary expenses in categories where I noticed it was easy for me to spend way more money than I realized and way more than I could afford. Nearly thirty years later, I still keep track of all of my expenses and have a few categories where I specifically break out my expenses so I can monitor them closely. One of those categories is escorts and masseurs. At the height of my spending on this luxury (years ago), I spent several thousand dollars per year. The figure today is perhaps 10% of that. I still like to look and lurk but I seldom hire anyone anymore.

What are the main advantages of using Quicken over something like Excel?

It allows me to transfer directly my banking transactions, allows you to code expendetures and does report anaysis. I have several homes, rental property and investments. The program helps me manage all the related transactions. I used excel for many years. I think excel can be very usable as well.

I'd guess last year, 2017, it was several thousand dollars. That included regular massage appointments through the year. This year I'm on track to spend more. I'm less into massage and more into longer BFE experiences right now so that gets pricier. But worth it to me at the moment.

If I start to feel like I'm spending too much, I'll cut back on or eliminate the BFE meetings.

@freecahill1965 , @SundayZip: Quicken has now moved to a subscription model which will be quite expensive. Coupled with the flakiness of the software, I'm actively looking for a replacement. Any suggestions? (Maybe I need to make this a new thread.)

I recently decided it was time to upgrade to a current version of Quicken (from Quicken Deluxe 2010) and discovered that they switched to a subscription model. What!? No way! So I too am thinking about a replacement. I haven't noticed any flakiness in the Quicken software but have no desire to switch to subscription pricing. At this point, I'm thinking either Mint or Personal Capital might be the way to go.

Quicken is a personal finance software product. Excel, is.. well... a spreadsheet, nothing more. With a spreadsheet, you need to design and build all functionality yourself. With Quicken, it comes out of the box (or more recently, with a download or your purchased product). Maybe a Quicken marketing video will explain it best.
