Imo he did not age well; I now know why.

I bought this issue of the Rolling Stone when he was on the cover

The Partridge Family was one of my favorite shows at the time. I also thought David was cute ( I thought Suzanne Crow was adorable too). But that picture on the cover of Rolling Stone does nothing for me now. And considering the types of guys I remember thinking hunky back then (Ellie Mae’s boyfriend Dash Riprock for example), I don’t think that cover would have attracted me much. I’m not usually into the androgynous type.

He lives/lived very close to me in FTL. He's had a rough go of it the last part of his life. There were very public bankruptcy's, foreclosures and the selling off of possessions and memorabilia, and of course the now famous bouts with alcoholism and rehab, and in recent years there was the memory loss. It must have been a terrible way to spend the last years of ones life. Praying that he finds peace and that if it is not to be, that he goes quietly and without pain.

David had a second career in theater. I remember seeing his on Broadway in "Blood Brothers" with Petula Clark and his half brother, Shaun.

I think a friend of mine saw a touring company of this around 2001. He said that Petula’s voice had gone.

This news is so very sad. Dementia and, of course, organ failure, is devastating.

David didn't inherit the best of genes. Dementia runs in the family and his father was a notorious alcoholic with a huge ego and temper.

Back in the 70's I briefly dated an exec at Columbia records. He used to tell me tales about his work, especially in Hollywood. He remarked on a number of occasions that David was always getting into trouble in LA's Griffin Park very late at night cruising in the bushes. His father, Jack, was frequently called to the local precinct to bail his son out of trouble.

David, May your journey be peaceful.....

David may have been gay or bi? Interesting!

I think The Partridge Family had some very good songs, but nobody realized because they were dismissed as bubblegum. They were thought of as lightweight (unlike David's dick).

Big dick AND that hair? Now I REALLY wish I had looked like him. He was my ideal when I was a teenybopper.

Both apparently run in the family. Shaun's also supposed to be 'gifted' and Shirley Jones has written how Jack Cassidy (not David's father) was quite well-endowed.

It was a strange group -- David and Shirley Jones singing a bunch of songs culled from professional songwriters, recorded with top-notch session musicians and background singers, and marketed as a family group for a TV show.
