Has anyone experienced true love. I have never with another person, so it got me wondering. Maybe I watch too many movies and my idea of love is some pipe dream that can't be attained in real life. I do love my kids, love love animals, some friends etc. But never experienced the true love. I have seen some real close couples, but mostly crappy old married couples. It got me thinking, I don't even know what it means-is it just the stuff of ballads, poems. Is it just lust that wears off after a few years? What is it and have anyone of you experienced it-gay or straight?

I have spent almost fifty years with someone despite all the little things he says and does that drive me up a wall. But when I had the opportunity to leave him for someone younger, gorgeous, intelligent, charming, financially independent, and more sexually compatible, I realized I couldn't do it. I guess that is true love.

I suspect some people simply aren't wired that way and others are. I think extremely analytical people for the most part have a harder time with this.

I think that many people confuse love and sex. It' great when they coincide but I have always defined love as a feeling of wanting the absolute best for another as much as you want it for yourself.

I have experienced love with animals and now the kids. Especially some animals are your "heart" animals and others can be the best, but there is no heart connection. I have had several gay relationships and thought I was in love and we moved apart and never really missed them. I was just wondering -as I have seen some real disastrous straight relationships too- if it is even possible. Or in the modern world we expect too much with images from movies and TV corrupting our experience. I don't know, I would like think of love as Chris Hemsworth holding me and comforting me and maybe that stupid kind of image always made me attracted to the wrong kind of men. Who knows, now I am very busy in my personal life and only hire. But I guess just wanted to check how others view it and nice to know some have experienced it!

Nothing says "true love" like knowing you're more sexually compatible with an intelligent. charming, financially independent gorgeous younger guy while you're in your true love "relationship."

Look to the "crappy old married couples." True love isn't necessarily picturesque, but it's sublime.
