I am in the process of deciding/booking where to travel this fall or maybe early next spring (I have an aversion to swarms of tourists). I have been thinking of perhaps London, or Paris, or Barcelona, or Berlin. Or, would it be practical and feasible to combine two or more of these cities within a two week period? Which city or cities would be the most interesting, gay-wise and escort-wise? I have nixed Moscow, Damascus, Mogadishu and Pyongyang.

Unfortunately you are going to encounter swarms of tourists in all of those cities in the fall. I'm about to leave for London which I visit with some frequency and greatly enjoy. Unlike many Paris is not my favorite city in Europe and I loathe Barcelona. Berlin if OK but as much of it was destroyed during WWII there isn't a great deal of historical interest to visit. London also has a great escort scene and there is plenty to do. I'd go for London but then I'm prejudice.

I agree with Epigonos. London would be my first choice. I'm a bigger fan than he is of Berlin.

It would be a close second. Right now Madrid would be my third choice, but only because I've

just recently discovered it and there's lots more I want to explore.

Paris doesn't even make my top 10 list. I find it pretentious and unfriendly. Although it is

admittedly beautiful and the food is amazing. I'm just not that into French men either.

I would definitely plan on visiting 2 cities (if not 3) in two weeks. Even amazing places

tend to get a little boring on your first visit after a week.

It is very easy to do London and Paris at the same time because of the Eurostar train service. You can travel from city center to city center in 2 1/2 hours eliminating the necessity of lengthy airport security and transport from the airport. It was really easy to fly into London spend a few days there, take the train to Paris spend a couple of days there, and return to London to finish my vacation. It was also cheaper to fly in and out of London because there is much more competition on the LAX- LHR route than other European gateways. This of course may be different depending on your departure city and routing.

I can not image only spending a week each in Stockholm, Rome or St. Petersburg, let along Paris or London.

WilliamM I couldn't agree more. I have friends who take three or four cruises a year. Their ship docks at a certain city and they take a ship tour of the city and then feel confident that they know it quite well. They are absolutely appalled that I have, within the last ten years, spent three three plus weeks in London, three weeks in Venice, three weeks in Madrid, four weeks driving through Tuscany, three weeks in Paris and am currently planning on spending three weeks in Rome. They simply cannot understand what I could possibly do in these place for such an extended period of time. I have reached an age where "if it's Tuesday it must be Belgium" no longer appeal to me NOT that it ever really did.

Pretentious and unfriendly may have once been true, but not since French children take English in school.

I was once a very ardent Francophobe but in all honesty I have NEVER been treated poorly in Paris or anywhere else in France. The last time I was in Paris people, on two separate occasions, came up to me shook my hand and thanked me for visiting in spite of all the terrorist problem they had had. One guy was actually in tears.

Paris is not one of my top ten favorite European cities. It is quite dirty and Belle Epoque architecture is not one of my favorite styles. But those two things aside the stained glass in Sainte-Chapelle is glorious beyond words and a dinner cruise on the Seine after dark is a once in a life time experience not to be missed.

With the exception of a relatively small town in Germany (December, 1972), I can not remember staying more than two and a half weeks on vacation in Sydney, or Asian or European cities.

I enjoy flying home as much as the flight overseas.

Like you, I would never try a tour.

Believe it or not, as much as the idea appalls me, I'm about to embark on a tour in England. I have always wanted to visit some of the great aristocratic country houses in the UK. This tour is sponsored the the British National Trust and I belong to its U.S. affiliate the Royal Oak. I've always thought I would rent a car and drive to the various sites. BUT at my current age I simply do NOT want to experience driving on, what for be would for me, the wrong side of the road. The idea of driving on the continent doesn't bother me in the slightest and that is what I will continue to do.

Love Spain! guys are so piggy in Europe. I went to a sauna in Chueca and fucked so many nice asses. Barcelona is much better tho... there's many options. try looking at websites like Gay Cities where there's reviews and addresses for all sex clubs and saunas in each city. Europeans tend to bb more so make sure you are PreParer when in Europe.
