Water and agitation, like that of a washing machine, will cause animal hair/fibers to mat together and become felt.

Tried it once with a wool sweater (while in college.) It works. Sweater was a mass of a mess.

I remember my mother washing sweaters by hand. It was an involved process. She swished them around in a sinkful of lukewarm water with a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Then she let the water out of the sink and allowed the sweater to drain. After that she rolled the sweater up in a bath towel, pressing on it to get more of the water out of the wool. After that, she laid the sweater out flat on towels on a bed or on a carpeted floor, and hand blocked it and let it dry overnight. LONGGGGG process.

I still do that...;) Except I use Woolite in cold water instead of dishwashing liquid.

I thought cashmere could be hand washed?

@BaronArtz I always use cold water on my sheets. Unfortunately,if you air dry , they take over your bathroom for two days of the week. Even if you use the delicates cycle, they don't dry completely. Also, I love the smell that Snuggle sheets leave on my linens.

My dear FF, fine linens should NEVER BE bone dry when they come out of the dryer ... you should fold them gently, then iron them. By hand, of course. Snuggle is nice, but I would suggest a gentle spritz of Hermes Poivre de Samarcande instead.

May I kindly refer to the care guide by Frette linens? https://www.frette.com/buying-guide-details.html?link=care-guide#care-guide

Regardless, linens should remain FLUFFY ... things are always better when fluffy. But you know that ...

Two guys in a laundromat. That's got to be the dullest porn script ever.

She used that stuff called "Ivory Liquid." I don't think it's been available for years.

Is it really more dull than a box springs thread on a M4M Forum? Granted, to which, I've added.

Just askin'.

Does having a box spring under the mattress make a difference in terms of (1) comfort and (2) wear on the mattress?

I have a mattress I really like. I'm 18" thick and is the softest thing you've ever seen. It's almost a decade old and no longer available, so I have to take good care of it. I also have a box spring under it.

Problem is that I need a new bed. Most of the nice ones are platform, so I'd need to throw away the box spring. I have heard that box springs absorb shock and reduce wear on the actual mattress. Is that true?

Box springs make a huge difference...... for those who make a commission on selling box springs.

I would have thought that a discussion of beds is not a million miles from the general theme of the forum.

Beds do play a rather important role in good M2M sex! -- along with the woods, the beach/sand dunes and other convenient locations:):)

I remember the early water beds that didn't have wave blockers! One powerful thrust and you could ride the "waves" in sexual bliss -- deeply connected while the bed did the work:):):)

Also the convenience of a good foot board to use for pumping a hot ass with feet solid against the foot board.

Beds do play a role!

They will not hold up. We stopped selling then since had so many problems .We Sell our Mattress with a foundation. < a built up box covered with foam and cloth> Also the only mattress we sale with springs inside are 2 sided so u can flip,

I have been selling Mattress for over 40 years, and my dad for 60 yrs and have seen alot of changes. All the large companies are owned by 2 equity firms.

They claim to give the customers a Long Warranty, but they will not stand behind them.If your Mattress fails, they call it Air displacement. Buy from a small local mfg in your area . and you will have better luck, If you are North or South Carolina, I can help with that.

@SpankMe: very interesting! How would I find out where a mattress is made (other than asking)?

For what it's worth, Consumer Reports did a survey of what readers thought were the best places to buy a mattress (I am assuming that local manufacturers were not rated.)

As a man who sleeps with women, I noticed that a strong foundation and a good spring in the box is the best recipe for great sex.

You mean we've lost you to the other team?:(
