Is it my imagination, or does there seem to be MANY masseurs posting pics of themselves in cars, either driving and looking to the side.....or sitting in the drivers seat with a straight on shot. (always wearing their seat belts of course!) 5 years ago there were ZERO photos like this in ads. Now they are very common. I know this is a weird question. If I had only come across it once or twice I would not be asking. But I come across it alot! Am I missing something here? Is there some "sitting in a car" fetish that I am missing out on? Feedback?

Really? I agree these pictures are common, but I think they have been there since the very beginning of the selfies trend. To me they always were a more or less pretentious way of sending the message: I have a car, I drive, I do outcalls.

I see it a little differently. In my opinion, cars have always been a status symbol. Places like LA, Chicago, New York...owning and maintaining an automobile are not only expensive, but are increasingly becoming prohibitive. Showing yourself in one, promotes the idea that you have financial wealth, and the means to own one, or in other words, bragging rights. Just a thought...

I can't tell you how many younger guys in LA that I've run into that are parading around in Versace and Gucci, but can't afford to drive a car.

I think this is the answer.

I agree. I don't think most guys are trying to send any particular message. Maybe a little for those cities where cars are cost-prohibitive, but in the vast majority of the country, everyone has one. Most the time you have no idea what kind of car they are even sitting in.

We spend a lot of time in our cars. The lighting can be very good because it's bright but not direct enough to make you squint. Between the dashboard and cell phone holders, you can get a perfect angle. And there are mirrors there to easily check how you look. And if you're heading to a social event, you are probably fully primped.

In most cases I think it's just a opportunity for a good candid shot. But what do I know?

I have often noticed and wondered about this, too. It might just be a convenient set-up for a selfie. The status explanation might be true in come cases, too; but most of the time you can't tell anything about what kind of car it is from the pic. There is a local guy who posts pics of himself next to various expensive looking cars (slightly different scenario); I always assume that 1) he is trying telegraph that he is a high-roller, and 2) the car is probably not his.

I think an interesting issue, but on the same topic, is the number of masseurs whose professional photos appear to be taken by the same photographer. Furthermore, their profiles are largely identical as are their testimonials.

You generally can only reach these guys by text, for they’ll tell you their English isn’t good which indicates someone else created and maintains their profiles. They’re usually the ones who exploit the grey area of advertising on MF and M4M the most, for all they’re gorgeous photos and self-raves of sensual touch, they generate the greatest number of complains on this website of no nudity, no mutual touch or no HE.

It seems to be very organized and I do know from our straight counterparts that many the women working in the spa either approached or were approached by organizations that assisted them relocating to the US. Passports, work permits, air fare, temporary housing etc. etc. and massage is how they pay the organizations back, so I just wonder if a number of the guys advertising on these sites aren’t doing the same thing.

I think it's all about the lighting. Sitting in your car, you often have a great deal of natural light, coming from all sides, yet usually no direct sunlight. I don't think that these guys consciously think "I'm going to use a selfie in the car," I think that when they're looking through their camera roll, they find that the best selfie happens to be one where they're sitting in their car. I don't think it has anything to do with the status symbol of their car, as, more often than not, you can't even tell what kind of car they're in.

I asked an escort who has a couple of car selfies why he used them in his ad. What he told me was shocking. He included them so a bunch of bored clients could, on a Sunday afternoon, discuss the reasons why he posted them.

That may be the best answer to any post any thread in my 7 weeks on the forum!

Because it's better than one in the bathroom with the toilet in the back ground.

(real answer: dashboard is solid, stable surface for stabilizing the camera at head level.)
