I misspoke (it was after my bedtime) when wrote that: I meant any good male professional player. This whole thread started in relation to Bobby Riggs' contention that he, a pro player, could beat Billie Jean, then the top woman player, even though he was 55, simply because he was a man. Then there were claims that any male in the top 100 or 1000 male pros could beat Serena. Of course they could, but whether they actually would do it would depend upon a lot of factors; I could beat Serena under the right circumstances (I have beaten younger, stronger, more skilled players of both genders from time to time), but if she is in form, I wouldn't have a chance. If Roger and Serena were both healthy and in the right frame of mind, I think he would probably win, but I don't think it would be the inevitable blow-out that you and others seem certain of. If the physically stronger player always won, there would be no reason to watch matches, other than to prove who was physically stronger.
