I'm curious about others' experiences with non-escorts, non-masseurs, and generous.

I've answered a few craigs ads, been interested as emails go back and forth, and then get an email with "generous?"

Most often, I lose interest immediately. But occassionally, if everything seems to indicating a great experience... I've said "open-minded, what were you thinking?"

And then some outrageous figure comes back.... more than I'd see for guys advertising on Rent.men. So I pass. Once, I even wrote a guy he should do some market research and linked rent.men.

Or, there's a game about who names a price first, like its some negotiation.

Most recently, some ripped jock type, likes showing off, asked about generous. My only exposure to that is MSS long ago, so I assumed he wanted a few bucks for supplements or? Nope, was looking for more than a pro on RM.

I'm not on craigs bargain hunting, but I'm not going to agree to pay more than a RM-norm fee. Inexperience, scam, drug seeking, etc.... all seem possible.

Has anybody had any favorable experiences with non-pros and generous?

SeekingArrangement. Guys are typically inexperienced and all over the map. There are the "I want you to pay my rent" guys and the "whatever you think is fair" guys. I've settled into a comfortable routine with two sweet guys with very reasonable expectations.

I've actually wanted to start doing this for a few reasons:

- RM gets stale at times (at least in my cities)

- Possibly find the type you want for lower cost

I started throwing up postings on Craigslist looking for a certain type for pay. But my ads get taken down quickly. I have to figure out how to get the wording down so my ads don't get flagged.

So last summer I kind of hooked up with this guy from Craigslist/Grindr. He first responded to my ad on Craigslist, then when I went to pick him up I noticed he was also on Grindr once I got to his area.

Anyways, we went to a nearby park (this is like at midnight). Not sure if it was me (a lot of people say I'm intimidating) or because we were outdoors, but a minute into playing he got nervous and stopped. Never spoke again after that.

Fast forward to last month I see he joined RM as an escort. I contacted him not revealing we met before. He said he got into it because one night after clubbing a guy invited him and his friends to some penthouse party. At the party the host/invitee offered him $$$ just to blow him so he decided to get into escorting.

Talking some more I told him I would love to hire him but his price is outside my budget. And while he's good looking, there's only a certain "type" that will get his $400 rate as a new guy. Suggested him to do some digging on RM and see the rates guys charge.

We were both respectful of each other and the convo ended shortly after that. I knew he'd have to bring his rate down. I check his profile regularly, and low and behold, his rates came down this week.

I've usually felt wary about these kind of hookups simply because they don't have the kind of credentials we tend to depend on out here (reviews, past experience as an escort, etc) and I get a little scared that it's going to be a setup or unsafe in some way. But I'm heartened to see that some of you that have done it have good things to say.

Have any of you had the opposite kind of experience - seeing a guy who advertises on an escort site then also appearing on a non-escort site? I recently reached out to a guy on a "dating" site who used to have an RM ad, saying I recognized his picture from another "$ite" and was sorry I seemed to have missed the chance to meet him there (his ad is no longer on RM). But I never heard back - maybe he didn't like MY ad? lol

I routinely see rentguys on Grindr. Almost every day.

I’ve never hired from Rentmen. I’ve hired almost exclusively from Craigslist with great success establishing a dependable group of hot regulars.

Tips on how you did your ads without getting flagged? can PM if you want.

I'm not on craigs bargain hunting

Why else would anyone waist their time there?

It seems to me, the vast majority of ads on CL are fake time wasters, especially the guys using stolen porn photos to sell themselves. Free is free, so you have to expect a lot of garbage in a free environment.

On the other hand, free makes sense for some users, especially the guys who are visiting or sticking their toe in the water to see what bites. I have found a few good men on CL, but you've got to slog through a ton of waste to get to them. I'm practiced now, so I know how to keep my time there to a minimum. Sometimes I'll see potential in a guy, but within an email or two, you can tell they're fake. The creative way that certain massage guys answer the question, "Are you licensed?" is very revealing. The guys who answer a 3-question email with one word get deleted. LOL.

I met a guy on a hook-up site. After he found I had a good financial status, he asked money from me. I wouldn't say it was blackmail, but I felt very bad and gave him money and never met him again. That was more expensive than hiring.

I sort-of had that happen with new social acquaintences - nothing to do with escorting or sex.

The unexpected introduction of money into any relationship... casual, platonic, family, sex, etc etc.... makes for complications.

To answer the OP's question: Yes.

I've had various favourable experiences and had some intense relationships with such young men (aged 21-28). I'm very particular and I only get turned on by handsome, preppy muscleboys who like to bottom and suck cock to completion, so I put my own advert on CL.

Consider the possibility it's not a "waist" (sic) of time for all posters, in all areas

The primary attraction of craigs ads is location. As a suburbanite, I'm past the point in life of feeling I need to haul my ass into the big city for every aspect of life.

Escorts are non-existent here, 22 miles from SF. Masseurs almost as scarce.

But hookup opportunities, or at least hookup ads, are plentiful. I admit, theres a desperate housewives tone to the ads at times - sometimes, perusing the ads makes me laugh out loud - but at least I'm not going to get the "way the hell out there!?!?!?!?" reaction.

I started using the app GDaddy and finding quite a few local guys looking for a sugar daddy. Some want a relationship type arrangement while others are happy with occasional no strings fun. It's just a matter of weeding through the different guys.

That's true. My only experience with a CL m4m page is NY. Other city participants may not be wasting their time.

I've had unforgettable paid encounters on CL. I usually pay AU$70-100 just to suck them off. The most I paid is AU$150 to a handsome young man with a gym-fit body. We had regular meetings and even became Facebook friends. I haven't seen him in awhile mainly because I got sick of the same 'dish' LOL.

My weirdest encounter was with this guy http://sydney.craigslist.com.au/cas/6190371672.html... and while he has a hot bod (he had average-sized dick), I wasn't quite satisfied with his face covered the whole time. I love Sydney CL, you'll find gold if you're patient enough.

I met an awesome guy off Grindr. He was offering "massages", but he did a lot more than that. I always get banned on Grindr for putting that I am generous, but this guy was able to find my profile on three separate occasions, so I took that as a sign that I should hire him. He was ultra sweet. He held my hand as he led me upstairs to his bedroom and even asked me if I wanted something to eat after we finished having some fun. He's also the first money guy that's actually made out with me. The guys I usually choose aren't into kissing, so I don't even ask guys that don't have a clear preference on their profiles. The fact that this cutie was into kissing was a nice surprise. I don't think I'll find another like him on Grindr or CL, etc.
