I've been watching for the last hour or so. It's been 999,990 for a while, and new posts are appearing without the counter clicking over.

Ed: And it didn't change when I posted this.

Yeah, it has been updating at the bottom of the hour, so we should get a new number in a couple of minutes.

Looking back at the Time Stamps of the recent posts, it appears that the Millionth Post was made by either Mike Carey, Steven Kessler or myself. I had confetti shoot out of my computer when I made a recent post, so I am assuming that was the signal that I indeed had made the millionth posting. So, now on to the 2 millionth posting.

Last night, when I returned yo my hotel room, my room mate was not there, so I was able to have my early celebration!

Dumb question: I never know whether yeah rhymes with bay or sounds like yam?

In Australian English, neither, but I suspect in American English with yam. In Australian English yam rhymes with can, I suspect in American English yam has a slight e that glides into the a, sort of ye-am. I could be wrong. Here yeah sounds like yair.

Kevin Slater

I agonized over that for years. Still do a bit because I think some still don't know when they write with it. Might be why many now just write "yay".

Where is the international phonetic alphabet when you need it?

The question is who posted the 1 million post?

I just went by the time stamp but it is not clear who made the millionth post though in a previous post I did list the three most likely and then I took credit for as my computer spouted out confetti and balloons.
