Thoughts on hosting versus being hosted? Should I get a room or have him to my house? Curious what you all think.

 

A client once told me he prefers to get a hotel when first meeting, and then if goes well meet at home the next time.

 

However, you have to weigh budget and comfort level. A cheap hotel may scare someone away, but you could also lose money on a nice hotel if the guy flakes. But of course depending what city you're in there's a mid ground: Hampton Inn, Courtyard Mariott.

 

But even those can run up a bit of change in some cities, especially weekends. I would just say instead of paying a greedy hotel $135, I'll meet at your place and give that money to spend more time with me.

There was a hotel near me that had hourly rates during the day. Usual minimum was 4 hours but it was only about 30 dollars. I believe the hotel was catering to truckers and hookers during the day, but it was a clean reputable hotel. I would rent a room for the afternoon on the first meeting and sometimes the second as well. Now. as long as an escort is well reviewed, I will do either an incall in my home or an outcall to their hotel. As Mocha suggested, it leaves more of a budget for fun

When I was traveling to another city, I preferred my hotel room. I usually stayed at mid-level business hotels, sometimes upgrading to the premium hotels. So I never worried about seedy when traveling. Sometimes, I'd get upgraded to concierge, limited access levels... which added a degree of difficulty, as he couldn't just knock on my door. Candidly, meeting in the lobby added to the experience for me.

 

When in my home city, I went to their place for any initial visit. Two or three times, we used hot tub rental spa facilities. Thinking back, most of my local experiences were with guys visiting SF, so their place was a hotel. Once, I picked up a guy in SF and drove back to my suburban home.

 

I've never once in my life given my home address to an escort, for him to arrive at my door. It just feels unsafe. I know there's a risk going to the other guys place, but I weighed the unpleasant possibilities, and figured it's easier for me to flee their place, compared to getting them out of mine.

 

I never hired for more than an hour first visit. Guys who subsequently did overnights and weekends were welcome at my home.

When I lived in NYC, I always hosted at my apartment, even first-timers, and never had any problem. When traveling, I normally use my hotel room. Now that I cannot host (boyfriend arrangement), I use a nice hourly hotel. In my long "hiring career", I have been to "their" place very, very rarely. I just feel more comfortable "chez moi".

I think it depends on whether you are discreet or not. If you are trying to be discreet then in no way host him at your home... Who knows who are meeting, even if you met before. Never know how that can be used against you, especially if you don't want anyone to know. I usually try to go to the escort if possible... If not, get a hotel room. Feels safer at your own hotel room, especially for the first meet.
