As I said, I will not apologize for basic human kindness.

You seem to think that BN should be disallowed the same consideration that YOU would get in the same situation. I think he should be allowed.

You're applying a mighty double standard. I hope you're never in the same boat. We wouldn't want to be accused of treating you as a favored son.

>As I said, I will not apologize for basic human kindness.

I believe the point that others have been trying to convey to you is that your kindness is extremely selective.

When it comes to the non-twinky, non-escort participants here, you're not exactly renonwed for your kindness. A "Fuck You" attitude is not really the hallmark of a kind person, and while many posters here would undoubtedly have lots of adjectives that spring to mind when your name is mentioned, "kind" isn't one of them.

This kindness of yours seems to make an appearance only when it comes time to exercise your moderator "powers" in order to protect boyish, whiny, allegedly tight-holed escorts. When that happens, a new deej appears. Otherwise, it's "Fuck you" or "take your concern and shove it in the trash can" or "too bad for you; if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Contrast the recent red-carpet treatment accorded, yet again, to BN, with the sewer treatment poured on one of our newest posters, ChgoBoy, who is but the latest unwitting participant to be dumped on and alienated - rather than be welcomed - by the representatives of this site.

How would you know? Have you ever needed and asked for an act of kindness?

(For those watching, no he hasn't. Is ANYONE surprised?)

Nail head just met the hammer! Loved it! :)

I know from my own experience, that in my first week on the board, what you stated is exactly what happened to me. And what is weird, is that it was during a discourse with BN! (but not about BN).

But after being here awhile, I realize that deej is just deej, just like all of us are just who we are, and that doesn't make it bad, unfair or unjust. We don't all have to like each other, do we? If we did that would be BORING!!!!!

Everyone already knows how highly I think of Benjamin, so no need to restate it, or I'll be told to get the pom poms out of storage.

Even if I disliked someone, I think it would be unfair to subjugate him to the out and out viciousness, so many have perpetrated against Benjamin in this and other threads in the last 3 weeks.

And all that as the result of a thread being locked at the author's request??? Why???? It certainly is not the first, nor likely the last time, the moderators of this site have done so/will do so, at a private request from the author, regardless of who that author is. I can state right now, that they have honored my private request to do so on more than one occasion.

So, cut both BN and the moderators some slack!!!!

VAHawk...just to "clue you in" and to be "fair and balanced" BN was not the "author" of the thread you refer to as being locked.

Now I understand the failure of No child left behind...

>A few weeks ago several Houston folks decided to get together

>location chosen for the get-together would never do. The

>I know I risk losing a good friend (Chuck 50) in bringing this

>that has taken away all his reason. Come back to us Chuck.

Benjamin simply made a suggestion to change the restaurant, and those organizing the memorial meeting seemed to think it was a good idea.

Benjamin's post:

"A suggestion:

As HB loved the city of Houston, why not hold court in his favorite place to eat & watch the pretty people walk-by: Ruggles in the Montrose area.

I can recall with a huge smile the times we spent there, bumming around while polishing off a bottle of wine. They have a pretty good menu, the waitstaff is all primarily gay and the atmosphere relaxed. As i said above, it's just a suggestion"

BigK's response:

"Thank you for the suggestion. I think that’s a great suggestion given Hooboy’s ties to Houston. Ruggles does Brunch until 3pm on Sunday, and dinner starts at 5pm. I will change my other plans if the consensus is that brunch is preferable.

Post your preferences and let’s do it!"

And then Bilbo's response:

"I am glad to know that we will have this additional tie to Hoo as we

meet. I sure hope that you can make it, Benjamin. Since neither Maverick nor I drink very much at all, I had forgotten that it might help some others come if there were a bar available. That is, I guess, another reason why Ruggles would make more sense this first time. However, I might not agree to it being there the second time as our impression is that it is a bit pricy there. I guess that I'll see

about that when I get there. I may be wrong - hope I am."

Bilbo's final post on the thread:

"It happened. It was fun! If you weren't there, you missed some great

live jazz!"

WOW, new to MC. Seems to me there's quite a bit of envy or jealously going on around here when it come to Benjamin. Never met him: but, it would seem to me that some are taking advantage of a situation to beat up on him. Think about it!

I want to thank the moderators for the work they do to keep things going. I respect their opinions as to the best way to operate this site and the MC. I would not want their job or be in their shoes when decisions must be made.

Deej, I do not know you outside of this MC. I have the belief that you have the best interests of the MC and us at heart even though I may not understand the way things operate or the decisions made by the moderators.

Keep on working on behalf of all of us. I trust your opinions as I do not know all the facts in these situations.

OK - There is no good excuse, you caught me exagerating the truth a bit here and there. You can notice on these quotes, if you wish, that while I was agreeing, I was protesting and giving others the opening for protesting as the decision was being made (which I have to admit that Bonfires did not do). The whole price issue. And the final note was a bit of a face saving stretch to try to make the second get together more attractive to more people. By and large, though, if you compare this account from the old thread with the account I've given earlier on this thread - which is the truth - you will see that they do fit in with each other.

I hesitated to make this post because I didn't want to keep this thread going. But I did feel you guys deserved an explanation.

Perhaps Chuck50 brings it all into better proportions on a thread in the travelling Hoovillians section, when he suggests "Grandma's" as a fitting HooBoy favorite spot for holding an impromptu meeting. The bath house is much more affordable for many of us, considering that the bulk of the fee is a membership good for more than one visit. And I know for a fact that the boy watching is better there than we had that afternoon at Ruggle's. :D
