1 to 10? the OP dilemma is 1 to 2. And he does not mention bad quality as the more affordable option.

I do not care about fashion and clothing brands, so a relatable analogy for me is rather with foods.

If I have to choose between one time the best burger in the city, and 10 times a perfectly good but not perfect burger like Elevation Burger, it is a no brainer, I go with 10.

But the same dilemma presented 1 to 2 is not so easy.

Timely question. I my case, my budget only allows hiring once every 3-4 months. I've been recently thinking of hiring a local guy who I've seen a few times, the last time in February (which was the last time I hired) until I saw a visiting guy on RM, whom I've never met before, but intrigues me. However, he won't be in town until the end of the month. I decided to send the visitor an email with a brief description of myself, and was pleasantly surprised by is prompt, welcoming, and enthusiastic response. Some back and forth emails, with more details about myself, all ok with him, and we now have a date. Ironically, I went online today to pay a bill, and noticed more money in my checking account. I got my tax refund. I now may be able to afford both guys this month.
