In the US 7 months would likely result in about 30 days, have no idea weather he will have to serve out the full sentence in Britain. Hopefully his drunken brashness does not result in irreparable damage to his life, but ultimately do not do the crime if you can't do the time.

This event even made Australia news, along with a large photo of the handsome and unruly passenger:

And, the news in Vietnam - could this guy's good looks be the reason for the worldwide coverage of him?

This falls into the category of: Wow sometimes assholes really do get punished. He is reasonably good looking but to my mind, he is not so hot as to warrant attention worldwide on the basis of his looks. I think it is the severity of the sentence. It might also have helped his case if had just apologized and took responsibility rather than trying to make it sound like the situation just kind of developed.

Interesting comments above. I don't find him goodlooking. Indeed there are many much hotter young men in the UK, especially in London.

UK courts take a tough line with passengers who disrupt and threaten aircraft safety. They seem to take into account how alarming the situation can be for other, perhaps nervous, passengers. In the event, he is likely only to serve 3 months of his sentence - usually in such a case, there'd be 1 night in a tough prison before he's transferred to a secure but relaxed facility.

Looks are always a subjective and personal thing, but many life studies have proven that nice looking people always have things "easier" in life.....

Wow - seven months. If he's smart he'll keep a journal and write a book about his prison experiences (maybe pump them up a bit), sell the movie rights and retire to Tenerife for good. Alternately, he might sell the rights to HBO or Starz for a series. His future is secure. When god gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Maybe get married (of whatever sort) while in prison. You never know where you will find love.

Even though this guy's behavior was out-of-line, the jail sentence he got seems a bit extreme.

By the way, what a good looking guy he is.

I've fixed the caption below:
