Steamworks 'Live porn' letdown

I was ridiculous on new years eve and left an insanely awesome party at the Soho House to check out the live sex show that Steamworks (the local sauna in Chicago) was hosting. And once again, it was kind of a fizzle. I have had a little bit of a crush on Chris Harder for a bit and I was excited to see him live doing what he does so well...and nothing about the performance was at all sexy and I felt embarrassed for the guys (at that point trying to have sex on demand in front of a crowd with non functioning equipment hanging from both partners). Which leads to the point...I have turned out for several of these events and never found it all that much of a turn on to see porn actors that I admire on screen do it in the flesh. Has anyone else experienced this? It makes me wonder if I would have the same reaction if I hire porn guys I admire for 1 on 1 time.

I've actually never seen a live sex show, but with regards to hiring a porn performer...

 

It probably depends on your expectations. If you're expecting a perfectly produced session with all the right moves and the perfect climax, you are going to be disappointed. If you go in with reasonable expectations and an open mind and just experience the guy you've admired, it can be very satisfying.

 

One thing I have found (at least for me) is that watching their porn after getting that personal time takes it to another level. Once you know what they feel, smell and taste like, their porn is that much better. Of course, that's just me, your mileage may vary.

several times I've hired guys (they usually already know each other in some way) to mess around while I watch.....I mention ahead of time what I hope for and encourage a friendly, non-rushed, kick-back atmosphere....it has almost always been fantastic.....it's one of my "fetishes" (if you can call watching a fetish).....no pressure to perform for an entire paying crowd a la Steamworks and no pressure to perform for a director and film crew

The Steamworks live venue seems like something that died (or should have died) about 20 years ago. Stock Bar in Montreal is still able to pull this off occasionally with style and great showmanship.

I'd say it depends on the performer. I've seen pretty lame stage and "home" performances, and stellar ones, too.

 

Although I think the stage ones that were good were also guys who were making sure they got good tips from the audience.
