There was a recent post on the MB about meeting escorts at a Bathhouse. I would be interested in knowing what the readers of this board think about cruising at Bathhouses/Sex Clubs in general. Are they a place that most of you avoid or are they a place where you have had some pretty hot sexual encounters and frequent them on a regular basis?

You're really going to get some pro/con answers to your bathhouse inquiry. Like cruising in a club, it's a roll of the dice whether you connect with someone or wind up wandering around avoiding eye contact until you give up, get dressed and go home. I've had both types of experiences. My first and subsequent bathhouse visits were all to a club called OASIS in Montreal. It's a great place to finish the night when the dance clubs close and you don't feel like hitting an after hours dance club. Or you have just finished a hot private dance at a strip club but didn't have a chance to FINISH yourself ;)

On an evening (a few years back) with an escort in Montreal, we were having dinner out and I asked if he wanted to go to a sauna/bathhouse to complete the evening. He suggested one called The Bronx (I think it's called something else these days) for their sling and leather men who frequented that sauna. I was not daring enough to agree and we ended up having a great evening back at the hotel. But for me, it would be a fantasy fulfilled to find an escort who will meet at the sauna and we could play the 'cruising' game all the while knowing I'll get the hottie in the end. :9

I am in Los Angeles so I guess that is the primary geographical location I would consider. I did check out a Sex Club in NYC last year and, to be honest with you, I didn't stay very long. I was actually amazed at the amount of unsafe sex that was going on at the Club. When you say geographical location makes a difference can you explain what you mean?

I was just curious about what city and/or state you meant. I don't know about CA, but I DO know that we have a good deal of bathhouses, here in NYC, despite the Giuliani legacy.

They may not be as great as they could have been, but oh well, at least there are GUYS there.

There was recently this thread along similar lines:

http://babydb.male4malescorts.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=7&topic_id=48327&mesg_id=&page=&mode=full

But it's more about taking an escort to a bathhouse (which I recommend, it's the best way to *know* you'll have fun!) then what you're asking.

I think hiring other patrons is rather frowned upon. I'm not sure but I think I witnessed a patron demand a guy get dressed and leave (bathhouses have no in/out previllages... wait, maybe I should rephrase that... ;o) when a guy suggested he 'pay to play' (probably under threat of telling the bathhouse, which would have kicked him out the same but maybe banned him as well). Also it may not be very practical since wallets are often locked up while you're inside.

I've never been asked if I wanted to pay to have a good time (I think it would be kinda offensive), have been asked several times if I was 'partying' though... so it sounds like crystal meth can buy sex pretty easy in LA bathhouses.

I was just curious about what city and state you had in mind.

If its NYC, you can check out http://www.cruisingforsex.com and find out about the bathhouses in my city.

The East Side Club requires a membership and is NOT all that it pretends to be; nice place; not so nice pickings. Go to the bars in the immediate area instead.

The Northern Men's Sauana, in Queens (a suburb) is easily reached by train and/or bus and is a pretty good place. Both times I have been there, I had a great time. Be prepared, however, to spend a good deal of time before you latch onto something worth writing home about.

The Turkish Baths (8th St Alphabet City) offer a male only session on Sundays, from 7:00 Am until 1:00 PM. I have NOT yet been there, but have been told that its HOT and you can get (reputedly) a great massage from hot on staff Eastern European guys.

There is a bathhouse near Wall Street, that caters to the mutual fund boys, and a bathhouse in the upper west side that caters to men of color and their admirers; check the cruising web site, or the magazines (HX or NeXT) for more info.

Good luck. Hope you get "cleaned out."

Argos, there is a well known site cruisingforsex.com It is devoted to this type of desire. It contains a lot of information on how, what, where and when. Check it out if you have time.

I've gone a couple of times, since it was something I wanted to check out. I didn't have any hot times because, I discovered, I wanted to get a good look at somebody if I'm gonna jump into sex with them, which can be hard to do in their lighting. Also, I like to connect a little more with guys by talking first, which isn't the way things work here. (I was told later that in other countries, like Australia, guys in bathhouses talk to each other before having sex. Maybe it's a cultural thing.)

Anyway, I've discovered it doesn't work for me and, at the same time, I know of a guy who SWEARS by them. I guess it's a "try it and see" kind of institution.

Could be it more of a (recent) San Francisco thing. From personal experience I know that some bath houses in the US are more chatty than others. The SF sex club scene got all weird after the "bath houses" were closed by the mayor in the wake of the AIDS epidemic. In SF, it is still technically against the law to operate a bath house.

Have you tried the Steam Works in Berkeley or the Water Works in San Jose? The Water Works (99% sure that's the name) was a ton of fun the last time I was in there. Very friendly (and hot) guys. Lots of guys from all your favorite Silicon Valley tech companies. Have been to the San Jose place since I was at the Steam Works.

Back in the 1960s and 70s, I used to love bath houses all over the world, but especially in New York. That was when I wanted to have lots of sex all the time, and there was no more efficient way to do it than to check in someplace like the St. Marks Baths in NY for eight hours. I found the most passionate affair of my life in the Day Sauna in Amsterdam, with a beautiful Dutch boy for whom I almost gave up my family, my career and my country. Then along came AIDS, and suddenly it appeared that the baths were incredibly hazardous to one's health, so I stopped going even before many of my favorites were closed down. Last year I decided to go back to the Day Sauna for the first time in thirty years. To my surprise, it was as exciting as it used to be, but--not to my surprise--I wasn't. Cruising around in a towel is definitely a young man's thing, or ought to be.

I had no experience with the leather scene and although interested, felt too intimidated to jump into the situation (sling) where a one-on-one could escalate quickly to a group thing. And I wanted this guy (escort) to myself all evening.

As far as STD's: How could one not be concerned about it in that environment. There appear to be a portion of substance using/judgement impaired guys roaming the 'hallways' late on a Fri/Sat night suggesting the blatantly unsafe stuff. Usually if one approaches with pupils representing the majority of the eye sockets, I move on. Better safer,

than sorry.

>Back in the 1960s and 70s, I used to love bath houses

Brings back memories, but not as far back as the 60's.

I think the staff at my HS would have been surprised (to put it mildly) to know the goodie-goodie kid "running errands for the band" was actually spending his afternoons on his knees sucking cock through glory holes.

Same here. I was scared shitless for a long time.

My last few forays into bathhouses have been disappointing. Not because of age! Stick a hard dick through the blowjob wall and you'll have all kinds of takers! (Hint: don't peek over the top no matter how good he is. You don't want to know. No, it isn't Matt Damon!) I did actually have a good time.

I got so disappointed seeng unsafe sex I had trouble getting excited. Seeing a beautiful young man offer up his ass to anyone that wants it can be hot. But not when the anonymous dicks are going in uncovered.

It's a personal choice, for sure. But I'm permanently cured of bathhouses.

It was the curiosity factor that made me check out the bath houses in Los Angeles and, according to Charlie and Lucky, I would still be considered young. I checked out all of the bathhouses and sex clubs in LA and always had the good fortune of leaving with a smile on my face ... a big smile. (Slammers is the scariest place I have been with respect to safe sex practices; although, it is also the hottest place with a diverse clientele.)

I always engaged in safe sex practices at these dens of iniquity, but knew I could catch STDs through the glory hole action and other questionable practices. Last year, after seeing the amount of unsafe sex that was going on and reading some of the posts on this board, I just decided to call it quits. I did get tested on a monthly basis and took some comfort in the negative results, but the angst of simply not knowing was not worth the trip to the playground.

This thread was the first time ever hearing of a 'glory hole wall.' I usually think of the glory hole as a feature at a bathroom stall or 'book' store. The Montreal bathhouse I've been to keeps the sex behind closed cubicle doors (for the most part.) Could someone actually stick their dick in(through) expecting NOT to come away with something unwash-off-able? Amazing.

My first three way was in a bathhouse. It's a good place to try something new you'd normally have difficulty bringing up in conversation with your bf. I suppose I'll keep going until they refuse me entrance or until I can no longer get one towel to wrap around me and remain there without the assistance of my two hands.

since we've left the topic that the person brought up, I thought I'd reply this way instead.

In Northern Calif, I've been only to Steamworks and Water Garden as it happens. Steamworks was the place I talked about in the posting.

WaterWorks was a little dull, but being there on a Sat. afternoon probably made it that way. Not much of anybody I was interested in pursuing, plus it was the same about no talking going on. I was WAY-disappointed that there was no sexual activity permitted outdoors. (What's the point of lounging nude in the great outdoors without getting boinked? ;0p )
