I must admit that I haven't visited, I just know a lot of Aussies and others who have lived in Australia. I'm pretty confident that Sydney is indeed the most progressive city, as well as that with the most to see and do, as well as having a nice climate.

Sydney is probably the self-described most progressive city, but the mainland state capitals are pretty much on a par, with Adelaide and Brisbane being slightly more conservative, but not to the extent that many American cities are.

I've never been to Oz, but San Francisco is a popular destination for Aussies, so I talk to them all the time. I would say from the way they tend to look that Aussies are into muscle at least as much as Americans are.

So if you are bigger - whether muscle or "bear" or both - you are "exotic" and will probably do well.
