I understand the review being edited, however I'll add the quotes here. In my initial submission I closed the review with 3 quotes which I felt summed up my experience with him.

Shiloh, I shed a few tears reading your review. Good for you, and bravo to Mr. Atlas for providing you such a great service. I have never met either you or Derek, but your review made me keen on meeting you both! Andy

 

p.s. Atlas apparently has a history of showing up late, but it would not bother me if he were genuinely apologetic and "made it up to me," as he did with you.

That's the impression I had gained from everything said about him, and it's sad (not in a Trump sense). I recall an earlier thread that posed the question as to whether you would wait for him or not if he were late. I got the impression that the payoff if he turned up was worth risking the disappointment if he did not.

Hell, as I've stated elsewhere, I once waited over 2 hours....but he kept in touch and when he finally DID show up....it was FUN!

I guess that's a judgement call.

 

For me it's once bitten, twice shy.

 

The amount of disrespect it takes to stand someone up cold, and never text/call to

explain/apologize is insurmountable in my book. Others feel differently and I respect that as well.

Fair points, @nycman. If I knew someone like Derek Atlas had such a reputation and I still booked him, my decision would have been informed by that and the quality of service I'd heard he delivered. So even by booking I would already have acknowledged the chance that I'd be stood up. It's harder to get mad at someone for standing you up if you were already aware that he had a history of doing that, but you'd booked anyway.

 

I accept that I might be alone in thinking that way.

My impression is he parties quite a lot and that sometimes gets the better of him. That said he's very friendly/charming/etc. and never gives you the feeling he'd rather be somewhere else. Which is a real issue for some of the people in the biz who if they are not attracted to you make that clear in both big and small ways.

My decision to hire Derek intially was based on all of his various reviews online. I weighed the pros and cons and then averaged his score, basically. I'm glad I took the chance, because he really is a great guy. I'm sorry others haven't had the same luck as me. Hopefully my reviews will help previous clients reconsider.

So I guess I lucked out at snagging his $1,500.00 overnight rate last month. I logged into my rentmen profile yesterday and discovered that Derek's overnight fee is now $2,000.00. In hindsight, I may not have hit an actual jackpot gambling, but I definitely did with Derek's $1,500.00 price tag :D:p:eek:!!

his hourly rate is still the same, so he may be trying to discourage overnights??....he's a family man now, so that might be the reason??.....

He doesn't really hide his real name(probably because he realizes these days you can't) and he's got a facebook profile. Which hasn't been updated recently but looking at it he would seem to be married with a kid by now.

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to know as little as possible about an escort's private life. That is part of the fantasy and mystery imo. Kind of like if you paid to sleep with Batman, but then you found out he was really Bruce Wayne. Then it's like you are just sleeping with Bruce Wayne playing dress up. Womp womp.

I just re-read my post above. I need to clarify my wording a bit. Obviously I enjoy getting to know the person behind the escort persona. But when it comes to their personal love/romantic life, I'd prefer that remain a mystery.

When I meet a new escort I usually know his real name, age, and address from web sites like intelius.com and zabasearch.com

I find this gives me a level of security - If the escort in any way tries to victimize me I can let him know how easily I can identify him to law enforcement. It hasn't happened yet luckily.

 

That's a very valid point, never thought of that! Thanks for the advice. :eek:
