Managing "hobby" budget

I get paid weekly and a percentage of that income automatically goes into an "escort" account at an on-line bank. I use that source to fund my hires (including hotels).

I started this hobby very loosely, and over time, my control and discipline freak have taken over. Above all else, my hobby budget is designed and maintained at the beginning of the year only after my bills, savings, charity, etc budgets have been set and accounted for. The hobby budget comes from base salary, never from bonus, commissions earned.

 

I set a per hour and per overnight/daily rate limit for hires. I also set a limit of how many guys per month I will see in my travels. Bc my portfolio is mostly regulars, I start with those I "must see" when I'm in their city. Call me dumb or loyal, but I'm just built that way - regulars to the front of the line always! I also have a cushion to try out new talent (this keeps my portfolio fresh but it is also exciting to meat new guys ). Whenever one of my regulars retires, moves, or becomes otherwise unavailable, I shift that portion of the budget towards someone new to me or another regular that is particularly enticing to me. I'm on the hunt for new talent in Miami btw...please PM me with suggestions!

 

I do have a budget line for hotel since I don't typically host and I'm too picky to be hosted - judge all you want, I'm just very OCD. I never mix hobby hotel stays with my business hotel stays - that's my own ethical compass, not judgin how others choose to handle their hobby. That hotel budget line eats a lot of my overall hobby budget but the peace of mind, the points earned, and the upgrades are fun. I do have an incidentals budget line for things like gifts. My toughest budget line to handle is tips. After I get to know a guy really well, I tend to be a bit of a softy. Thru reading this forum, I learned that a meaningful small gift can make a much greater impact on my companion than a big tip. I'm getting better at managing the tip line item.

 

Finally, I'm constantly looking for ways to improve my budget process. This is why Im an avid forum reader and participant. I learn a ton here. Oh, one more thing, I've added an annual budget for forum $ support. I made a promise to Mr @stevenkesslar that I intend to keep on an annual basis:)

 

True, you must be one of those guys who order your bills in denominational order and all facing the same way (per an earlier thread)... Me too

 

I have a loose budget right now and am in the process of trying to come up with some thing more concrete. I started having line items for different things (such as hotels, gifts, etc.) then I stopped because I started to think that I'm crazy.... Thanks for making me feel more normal

I keep an Excel spreadsheet of each and every encounter I pay for with totals (cash) I spend on each appointment broken down by hour, tip (if any), and total money expended, including meals and entertainment (cash or credit card) I furnish for the escort.

 

In addition I make note of each escort's activities with me, which things I find turn him on the most, things that turn me on the most which he excels in, and what happens between us (in detail) in all my hiring sessions. Whatever stays with me from the conversations we share is also noted. I can tell at a glance just what I have spent and if I need to slow down my hiring for budget purposes but I have to admit, when one of my favorite escorts cums to town, I am likely to splurge and then cut back later to adjust my funds back into my "hobby" budget.

I don't have a budget, just go with the flow. I suppose I'm more of a dabbler at this rather than a serious hobbyist (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hobbyist). I don't do this frequently enough to justify the time spent in organizing and planning a budget ... and time *is* money.

 

But now I know to come here for ideas when I do become a hobbyist in the future.

This is a fun topic. I’m an engineer so I like data and keep a spread sheet that tells me how many times a month I have sex, what category (FB, hooker, etc), how much I spent, and any monthly favorite guys. My spread sheet goes back over 10 years and I can look at trends. Not surprising, as I get older, the % of guys I pay has gone up and I am not having sex as much as I used to. I don’t really manage a budget for hobbies as it comes out of general monthly food and entertainment.

I am terribly impressed and humbled at the organization you guys display Although I do keep records of my meetings, with coded info on how things went, I have never ever thought of using an Excel spreadsheet. Maybe that is why I am not an engineer My hiring budget is quite flexible.

To be truthful, I'm sorry if I might have given the impression of keeping a separate Excel spreadsheet on each guy. All my hires are listed, with all the info pertaining to them and each session, on just one master Excel spreadsheet. This way it's very easy to see all my hobby expenditures and totals for a month or a year at only a glance. It's also easy to see just how often I've hired my favorite repeats! I have a friend who likes looking at my summaries on the list, who is trying to convince me to add a picture of each escort on their summary for his (my friend's) enjoyment. I'm thinking of doing that because some of my memories of one time only hires fade a bit over time! Besides, I may forget just how hot both JC Cortez and Alec Andrews (now both retired) are without a picture.

Actually a few years ago I was going to make a list of all the guys I had seen over the years. Unfortunately the memory fades and I was not able to complete the list. Slightly off-topic but while I have a simple list of names I have no photos. A few guys I saw in the very beginning are no longer around and I really wish I had thought to keep simple head-shots of them to rekindle some fond memories. Live and learn.

So as not to totally hijack this thread, I have a slush fund set aside. At this stage I reserve it for only the best of the best, and even then there is at times the odd disappointment with that proverbially well reviewed guy. I recently did some research on one individual over whom I have been lusting. However, that research indicates that he needs to grow up and mature a bit and especially given the type of scene for which I most often hire.
