Today is my birthday (hold the applause). It's a landmark, but one I'll keep to myself.

Twenty years ago today, I buried a friend of 21 years. We were putting his ashes into a memorial garden. It being Seattle, it was overcast. When the Priest said "May Light Perpetual shine upon him," the sun came out. The assembled congregation gave a collective gasp. We went home and had a party.

I came out to Marth's Vineyard (gotta watch myself … I almost said "The Vineyard," and realized people wouldn't know it) to visit some friends from Tucson, who come out for a few weeks every year. Friday, one of my friends had to have emergency surgery for a detached retina, and is essentially on house arrest.

Today I was looking forward to two (2) things: A boat ride, and a Birthday Cake. My sister was in charge of both. She never made the boat reservation (and both Tall Ships are out until July), nor did she order a cake. Preferred birthday cake, from my childhood: Yellow cake; raspberry filling (strawberry in a pinch); and REAL butter cream frosting.

I was going to say that Today hasn't been a good day, but then I took stock: I'm alive. A friend is in the hospital with a chemotherapy-related infection. A friend is in Heaven. Two escorts I have known have wished me Happy Birthday. So maybe it's a better day than I thought.

Here Endeth the Rant.

Happy Birthday! I, too, recently had a landmark birthday, and also took some time to take some stock. At first, I thought it was going to turn into my own little pity party, but the more I thought about it, the more I really appreciated how truly fortunate I have been. I hope your day turns out better, and there is always tomorrow!

Thanks for reminding us of perspective.

A good gift to get or give on birthdays or any other day.

Congratulations on the milestone, gallahadesquire, and best wishes for the year ahead.

Perspective is something that we have to have, others can't and shouldn't have it for us. Then it becomes judgment. For some reason tho (I have found at least) that I tend to get it on my birthday and I am always really glad I do because it makes me see how much wonderful stuff is around me and how many wonderful things have really happened in my life. Happy, Happy Birthday. And go out and buy the piece of cake you want and eat it. It's gonna taste just as good as if your fuckin' sister bought it for you.

You're simply the best Gallahad...Happy Birthday!!

God guarantees us nothing, not one year, not one day, nor one hour, so be thankful for everyday, because everyday is a gift, and everyday that you are vertical, is a good day indeed. Smiles, hugs, and cheers.

You are one of the good guys!

Happy Birthday! Many happy returns of the day. I have my own landmark birthday coming in less than 4 months. ;)

Recently a good friend died a horrible death from ovarian cancer. She had millions but her money couldn't save her. Two other friends recently diagnosed with throat cancer and one with leukemia. These are friends all in their mid 60's. So if I can get up in the morning and put my feet on the floor and move I've started off to having a good day. Make every moment count and count your blessings. Something I try to remind myself every precious moment. I buy my own birthday cakes and always get what I want.

I did almost die in 2010. A blood clot went to my lungs but Rome up after pig through the right side of the heart. It took out 3/5s of my lung blood flow. It should've killed me.

Gottes Zeitgeist is die Allen bestie Zeit.

I should include all you wonderful Ladies and Gentlemen (and remainder of the LGBTQS community) for all your kind thoughts and comments here on the Board.

And, of course, to Daddy for making all of this possible. (Let me go get some gunpowder …)

A Happy and Blessed Fiscal New Year's Eve to you all!

From what I've read in threads from years past, I would gather that you're .....older than 50. But (and this is a huge butt), you have more spirit, energy, and youthful personality than I have at 35. So you are quite remarkable.

Most of the people I know over 70 don't even know how to turn on a computer. You've managed not only to turn it on, but also to project your beautiful self all over the world with the click of a button.

You are loved and admired.
