I would love to have a NYC meetup for escorts and clients. I'm happy to organize, communicate, etc. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight/suggestions as to how to pull it all together. What days would be best? What kinds of venues would be best? Is there any sort of protocol to follow? I'm not sure if there are "official" ways to do this or if anyone can put something together.

I'm in NYC, and would love to meet many of you NY'ers, although I am not the most prolific client....Of course for clients who are still employed, a weekend date would be best, or at least a Friday evening, but I would imagine this is Prime time for escorts, so it may not work well form them... Once the date and time are set, the venue is pretty easy to come up with. East of Eighth has prix fix dinners and a lovely garden, and is GAY, but there are many other good, convenient places as well, It's NYC bitches....!

What about a Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Or an after work gathering? Dinner sounds lovely, but I'm thinking of a venue that allows for more mingling and the ability for people to come and go at their leisure.

Although I am not the most important attendee a weekend or after work on a Friday evening is good for me. I get up at 4 am for work, so after work weekdays is a no-no.

Oh, and--

Having organized a very casual NYC meetup last summer, my impression is there are no protocols. Some expectations on the part of potential participants perhaps, but no protocols. Feel free to PM if you'd like...

I am in... available evenings or weekends... I am in the suburbs so It would hard for me to get into town much before 7:30 or 8pm on weekdays

I don't live in the city but I do get into town periodically during the summer months when I am in the area and always on a Sunday because the NYBC meets Sunday evenings. So if the gathering is set up for a Sunday I most likely could kill two birds with one stone. Hint hint! Also, since I usually stay over night hotel rates are usually very reasonable on Sundays as opposed to other days of the week. Hopefully I can make it work no matter what eventually is decided upon.

Off the cuff, I'd think that the Gay Center on 13th may be willing to provide space. Then again, they may charge. The rentboy office would have been perfect, but...

 

If we did something involving food, I bet we could take over the upstairs of the Dish, casual dining in Chelsea. I'm friendly with the owner and could set that up.

 

Or what about a silly bowling outing? Or the Christopher Street pier? Or depending on the turnout, I have a large lovely apartment in Chelsea with outdoor space.

I would love to attend. Still mooning over missing Palm Spring (damned coronary dissections never happen at a convenient time).

 

I was thinking that a restaurant back room might be perfect, but the expense may keep some away. I found that when I helped Legendary Dave collect the money at a DC luncheon, that most of the attendees were generous in ponying up for the bill.

Something just came up that would preclude me from attending (actually, it is post #19). But it is a wonderful idea, and you guys should have a blast. I had actually presented the idea a while ago but it never panned out.

Wait... restaurants have back rooms now? I guess so long as they keep the vats of Crisco separate...

 

I doubt the cost of a meal would discourage either an escort or a gentleman who partakes.

Thanks for suggesting and organizing this event Eric. Awesome idea!!

 

Depending on the dates, and my business travel schedule, I would love to attend this event. Taking the Acela up from DC would be no trouble at all. These events are a great opportunity to meet longtime forum members and potential hires.

 

I was just in NYC earlier this week and had a wonderful time with a particular escort. ;) (Review coming soon.)

 

Sidebar: would it be possible to have this thread pinned to the Lounge board? I have a feeling it's going to be very popular. :)

Awesome! I love the Dish and it's right around the corner from my house. I also know the owner - my boyfriend and I and his parents eat there often. I'm going to PM you to discuss options!

With enough notice, I would consider a trip to the big city to attend. I haven't been up yonder in a mighty long time. I would need one of yall to hold my hand and keep me safe. :D
