What do you do when you're with a client who expresses political views you find repugnant? Suppose, for example, the client wants to become a regular or wants to book you for a weekend and then he makes snarky or vulgar comments about one candidate or another?

Never happened to me as a hire. But many on here know of my great hatred for the two headed snake that runs this country.

Hugs,

Greg

I've never talked politics with an escort unless he started and his views were correct :) At work I avoid political discussions 99% of the time but that's also because as an executive I've learned many people won't disagree with you and yet hold your views against you in other ways.

The short answer to this is you let the client express his view. You don't argue with him or disagree with him or start debating him. If they start to go on a rant about a particular politician as one or two of them have with me you try to point the conversation in a different direction or towards more neutral topics.

As a professional escort it's not my job to impose my views political or otherwise on a client or to judge them on their views. I don't judge them on their appearance or any physical criteria so why would I judge them on their political views. I'm there to provide a boyfriend experience that the client will enjoy. Its no different in any other service industry job. Would you as a waiter or bartender argue with your customers?

I would absolutely let them book me again unless they were violent or threatening to me. In fact, there are some clients who I've seen enough times to develop a rapport with that I can gently poke and tease them about their political beliefs or opinions. Sometimes a client will say just wacky or very impolitic or even racist things that make my head spin but I operate from the position that I'm there to fulfill the client's needs or fantasies not engage in a debate or disagreement.

Good answer, T. S. My question was prompted by an encounter I had at the gym this week. A man I otherwise enjoy chatting with started going on about the presidential election. His views were the opposite of mine and, beyond that, he was spouting some stuff that facts could never support. ("Hillary isn't quite all there, mentally, and she's in bad shape. They have to carry her up to the stage entrance.") Since he seemed like someone who would be even more obnoxious if I challenged him, I just listened, nodded, but said nothing -- as you suggest you do. He may have gotten the hint. But I doubt it.

I have used this: I never discuss politics. Too much tension and idiocy out there.

Now I do discuss politics, but not with people at work or with people I do not know well or with people I like very well. Work is obvious. If I do not know them well, I have little interest in arguing. If I like them, I have accepted that I love them despite their ideas.

So that leaves this forum and a post coital Steven Kessler.

Think of the situation as one you encounter at family gatherings (if you do). There is at least one or two really crazy family members who have a world view diametrically opposed to your own. Listen to the first sentence, put a noncommittal smile on your face and to stare into the air. If you are unable to completely tar over your thought process, look at their clothing and begin to silently critique it. They will eventually run out of steam. Then you get up and say, "What about another piece of pie" and never come back.

What drives me crazy about political discussions is that people rarely have anything original or thoughtful to say. No matter what their political views are, most people just go around mouthing the stuff that's been said a million times before.

I don't like to parrot received knowledge, so unless I have something original to contribute, I keep my trap shut.
