Hope he winds up with his dog. I understand that a huge amount of training goes into getting these dogs street ready, but the officer has a special bond with the dog and should be able to py fair market value.

Absolutely horrible. This is not the first time something like this has happened. I hope whomever gets the dog at the auction, turns around and gives it to the police officer.

US law tends to treat dogs better than almost any other animal, save humans. In fact, dogs are often better treated tham some humans: someone can torture a dog and expect jail time and their career/social life ruined; I could be shot up and left in the streets for over 4 hours and my murderer would get thousands from a GoFundMe fund and be lauded a hero. There's a joke among Black folks that if one could be reborn, it'd be great to come back as a white family's dog
