What's the greater risk; having safer sex with:

In my assessment, the answer is "the risk in each case is identical." If you want more meaningless variables add in the guys who report themselves as "undetectable."

Yes this has been discussed a lot. You pretty much have to assume everyone is HIV+. But in light of major advances in HIV treatment/prevention, I think that has a different meaning than in the past. I have found that HIV+ partners once they say they will use a condom do. That has not always been the case with “safe sex only” partners (and not just escorts).

Also as discussed elsewhere a lot is: PreP. This changes things significantly and can pretty much eliminate the risk of getting HIV period. I have said before pretty much anyone who is gay and sexually active should seriously consider this, and it is not exclusionary from also using condoms. It can also be used intermittently which I think would work well in your case. It should really help eliminating the HIV fear and hopefully let you have some fun with what appears to be a pretty hot guy.

This is so not a big deal. If he's agreed to engage in protected sex with you, then you're in the same position you'd have been in with any potential lover, whose status you don't know. I really shouldn't be debating this point because I will admit that I am OVER being fearful. I'm done checking CDC reports and stressing over minor risks. I am on PrEP and I will use condoms for intercourse -- which is a moot point because it's not my thing.

 

That said, my recollection is that there has never been a proven case of transmission through kissing -- no matter how deep. And the risk from oral sex is statistically so small as to be virtually zero. (Still, the one reason that I take that final precaution and am on PrEP.)

Add to that the stigma for people who disclose and discuss HIV+ status. I've met so many men who have a big problem with HIV+ guys, but who are willing to accept any guy at his word who has "DDF", "HIV-", "UB2", "on Prep", "undetectable", "not an A4A ho", etc. in his profile -- or even assume that no reported status means he must be safe.
