Recently, Jordan Smith (season 9 winner of The Voice - and well-deserved) sang "Mary, Did You Know" and it was outstanding!!!!

Listen to a snippet on iTunes.

Santa Baby. Ms.Kitt did it best. Madonna was darn good. Taylor Swift sucks cheesey donkey balls.

Hugs,

Greg

Greg, check out Miss Piggy's rendition, seriously. It's on iTunes. I have it as my ringtone for my favorite companion. :)

I can't choose just one, so here are my top four:

  • "White Christmas" sung by Bing Crosby (makes me think of my mom - was her favorite)
  • "Skating" from "A Charlie Brown Christmas
  • "Deck the Halls"
  • "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses

It was "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" - never felt it was Christmastime until I saw it. This year I will have no Christmas. ;)

The ladies on the Veiw had Darlene continue her tradition last friday of performing this song. Perhaps its available on youtube or on demand in your area. She was great for I believe a 72yr old.

Thanks! I will look for that.

I'm not having success posting the youtube links - ugh - so a list will have to suffice. If anyone is interested, all are on youtube for your viewing and listening pleasure.

Traditional religious carols:

Adeste Fideles

Angels We Have Heard on High

What Child is This?

Dona Nobis Pacem (not really a Christmas carol, but it reminds of singing in choir at Midnight Mass as a boy)

Secular Christmas songs (NB: not exactly a traditional list):

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues -- for my money quite possibly the best Christmas song ever

Driving Home for Christmas - Chris Rea -- the 2009 re-release is my preferred rendition

25th of December - Everything But the Girl -- haunting but at the same time, heartwarming

12 Days of Christmas - Frank Kelly -- absolutely hysterical Irish take on the classic - Frank Kelly played Fr Jack on "Fr Ted" if anyone is familiar

Ho!Ho!Ho!

Wow! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Geminibear! I agree, there is something Christmassy about this one. Wonder if it was used in some holiday movie once upon a time?

Cheers,

BBD
