Address of the Gaiety? Check

Ok, guys I have all the basics covered for my New York City trip starting July 7th. What I don't have are some ideas to fill some free time I will have from the 7th to the 12th.

Anyone have any suggestions on things to do or places to go that might be fun in a July week in the city? Perhaps there is something you have always wanted to do or go to but wanted someone to go with? Suggest away. All sincere or even not so sincere ideas appreciated.

If you have some ideas along these lines feel free to post or send me email through that handydandy thingamijiggy in the upper corner of this message. :p

Thanks in advance guys,

Jeff

The schooner Pioneer often does sunset cruises in NY harbor during the summer from the South Street Seaport http://www.southstseaport.org phone number for schedule and reservations is 212-748-8786. It's a nice way to see the harbor on a warm summer evening. Bring a picnic dinner along.

There's a wonderful show of French Art Deco furniture at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Do a nice walk across Central Park, usually filled with hot looking shirtless men during the summer, across to the Plantarium next to the Museum of Natural History. The show is amazing.

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (the most beautiful bridge in the world) for a fantastic view of NY and stroll around Brooklyn Heights when you get to the other side. It's one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in NYC. You could take the subway to Brooklyn and walk back to the city and wind up at the South Street Seaport and do the cruise.

Go to Splash Bar and check out the cute bartenders who are hired for their good looks and friendly personalities. Pick up copies of HX and NEXT for all the gay action. Take a walk around Chelsea, the gayest neighborhood in NY.

Meet up with Cooper and foxy for lunch and go to the Gaiety and then go to Posh for cocktails.

This is a good suggestion. I have met Cooper and foxy and highly recommend them. I have also been to the Gaiety and to Posh and also highly recommend them...

However.... last time I was there, the Gaiety let Sammy in the door, but Posh put to the Kabosh to him. First time I had the usually very friendly "Gay Cheer's" bar of the neighborhood get so techinical!

ASSUMING you are bringing no young looking 19 yo's with, I highly recommend the above suggestion!

"Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (the most beautiful bridge in the world)"

The Brooklyn Bridge is indeed beautiful, but I wouldn't say it is the most beautiful bridge in the world! IMHO, that honor would have to go to the Golden Gate Bridge in SF! :), and walking across it with the wind threatening to sweep you off into the Pacific Ocean is an awesome venture! :)

Of course, that is just my personal opinion, as I'm sure there are others who have experienced both bridges, as well as others, who legitimately have different opinions. :)

Jeff,

Well, you got some great suggestions and an offer or two as well. My only fear is that you will have worn out the locals by the time I get there the following week, and I regret I can't get there earlier since I always have fun in your company .

Too bad no one suggested any tank shows, heheh. but hey, I am sure there will be tank-tops at Splash (maybe some bottoms as well).

Have a great time buddy. Please Keep us all posted as to your adventures.

Get a free ticket to "Much Ado About Nothing" in Central Park (Free).

See Jimmy Smits and Kristen Johnston in a very romantic setting.

See "Farenheit 911". Anywhere! Anytime!

Donna Murphy in "Wonderful Town". Worth the price of admission.

Ditto Tonya Pinkins in "Caroline, Or Change".

Good, cheap eats: McHales 46 and 8th. Sports on TV. Techies from

Broadway shows. Huge burgers. :9

Go up to the observation deck of the Empire State Building at sunset and watch the lights come on as it gets dark. It's open till midnight. You can buy tickets using the web site to save some time.

See something at Lincoln Center. Often people who can't use their tickets sell them before a performance outside the hall if the box office is sold out.

During the summer there are orchestras playing outside in the plaza and lots of people come to dance. It's fun to watch even if you aren't dancing.

Walk around the West Village. Lots of fun stores and good restaurants.

Go to the Central Park Zoo.

I think you need more time.

Get a good map and wear comfortable shoes. Buy a Metro Pass for the subway (it's totally safe, pay no attention to the cowards who tell you it isn't) and you can use it on the bus too. Avoid taxis unless you like to throw your money away and like to sit in traffic.

Treat yourself. Look over the Campus Escort boys, call Philip, and get one for yourself. I'm in NYC a couple times a month -- always stay at Marriott Marquis across the street from The Gaiety, and always get myself a Campus Escort. Soooo nice. Trust me. :)

Which? The Planetarium or the shirtless men in the park? I have done the show at the Natural History Museum and it was amazing.

I have reservations at Peter Lugers Wed. night so that might be an excellent way to burn off all that steak. Then build up an appetite for other forms of beef.

Hey, I heard they were hired for their bitchy comments and overplucked eyebrows. grin. I'm glad to be corrected. I am amazed at the ability of those kinds of guys to have boxer briefs hang off their asses in such a way as to defy the very laws of gravity. Much further exploration is required.

That sounds great! I don't suppose you can do a G spot boy at Posh itself? I thought not. For the two birds with one stone dept.

Great suggestions, thanks foxy and I am eager to meet the man who makes the hearts of big muscle boys quiver. :+

How about if I get them a fake id BEFORE taking them out on the town? You don't have any cute 19 y/o's laying around somewhere do you?

Thats okay, I'll just make do with the over 21 set. grin thanks.

To avoid starting any sort of "East Coast" vs. "West Coast" thing on the board, I will reserve public judgement on beautiful bridges until I have seen both.

I understand the whole Tupac Shakur/Biggie Smalls thing started this way.}(

:p :7

Extra emoticons in honor of and thanks to the soi-dissant queen of thrones. What the hell even a rousing chorus of "Hail to the Redskins", cause I'm feeling festive VA.

I had no idea he opened a restaurant after the war. God bless the GI bill.

Thanks for the suggestions. Is there some sort of particular way to get tickets to the Shakespeare in the Park productions?

Thats a great suggestion. Although I wonder about just how safe it is. The time I went they tv station was pouring out so much RF radiation that I could watch JAG on the video screen of my camcorder. All that energy can't be good for you. :7

And you meet the hottest guys. Last trip I was floored by the most beautiful Amerasian man I have ever seen. In his mid twenties and had the most radiant blue eyes in the world. What a contrast with his Asian bone structure. Man did he hit the jackpot on the genetic sweepstakes. I was so embarrassed I couldn't stop staring at him. Well he did get off at at 23rd Ave so perhaps my lust wasn't completely a surprise to him.

If the weather is good, take a walk or rent a bike and take a ride along the new bike/jogging/walking path along the Hudson, that is now open from Battery Park City (at the WTC site) to at least 42nd St. You might also want to read Philip Lopate's new book (can't remember the title) about walking around the edges of Manhattan, which gives you a different perspective on the city.

>Chelsea, the gayest neighborhood in NY.

That's no longer true; the Sex in the City girls, with their Gucci handbags and baby strollers, have moved in and taken over. Where's my gay ghetto?! :o

Posted

You can head to Ground Zero and see the new cornerstone which was just dedicated yesterday. And since you are in the area, you can shop for great clothes at Century 21, right across the street.

I recommend you see "I Am My Own Wife" - in my opinion it is the most fascinating play on Broadway, with star Jefferson Mays giving a superb performance.

After the show, I would check out Therapy, which is a pretty cool gay bar on West 52nd street.

And if you get hungry, the cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street are amazing, usually there is a line just to get in!

New Yorkers will hopefully help me out here because I don't even know if the place is still there.

Sammy's Roumanian on the lower east side used to be an AWESOME place to put on the feedbag. Everything done family style, forget a table for two -- you'll be sitting with however many people fit at the table. The owner will likely drop by your table and loudly tell off-color jokes to the room, usually at your expense.

When I was there several years ago, the place was sitting in the middle of urban renewal waiting to happen so I fear it's gone.

It was a place of fun and *fabulous* food. Anyone know if it's still there?

Call Campus Escorts http://www.campusescorts.com. Justin is a great bottom, and visiting for a while. I've hired him, and he's great (check his reviews). Campus is a quality agency, if you're not familiar with them already.

Babbo is a great Italian restaurant in the village, but hard to get into. Have fun.
