Room temperature I can understand.

 

But heating it up?! I think I will make it for Christmas and just call it 'White Trash Faux Mulled Wine' and see if anyone recognizes what it really is.

I will admit that I've had it many times and it is surprisingly good (Assuming you like DP in the first place.) although intensely sweet. Something my white trash (apparently) mother used to serve.

 

For me, it's somewhat like the temperature of coffee. I like it hot or iced, but can't stand it room temperature.

Although I had not heard the term before, it seems totally typical of mid to late 50's advertising to me.

 

My dad managed a television station when I was growing up, and before that sold radio,TV advertising (first job was Bilboards along Rt. 66).

 

Maybe we should co-opt the term? Think the advertising agency copyrighted it?

I could have sworn this had been discussed before. But when searching, I couldn't find the thread. I remember these ads from the 1960's although I think they began before that. I've done it years ago although rather than lemon slices, I poured some lemon juice into the heated Dr. Pepper. I liked it as a teenager. I haven't done it in a long time-one reason may be that I don't drink a lot of hot drinks. I'm not a coffee drinker unless really forced to. I like hot tea. But I usually only get it either when I'm out at a restaurant for breakfast, or if I live somewhere really cold-like my sojourns in Madison, Wi and occasionally now in Washington state. Back home in Texas, I drink hot beverages the least because of how warm it is.
