Specialty Titles ... Who? What? Why?

Can someone please explain the "specialty titles" that a few posters have? I assume they were gifts from Daddy, earned or requested ... or... ?

 

The ones I've noticed are azdr0710's ("Old Timer"), Adam Smith's (Count de Crisco -- that one conjures up some images) and TruHart1's (Mister Congeniality of the Realm).

 

Are there others, past or present?

Generally earned by overwhelming service to the community, and they often don't know the reason themselves.

 

There have also been several "A.K.A." titles listing a poster's other identities so that members could see who they were really chatting (or, more likely, arguing) with. Sometimes it helps make clear that long-lasting range wars were really one guy arguing with himself. It isn't always an honor.

Thanks for asking, Moondance. I have wondered, too. I'm not sure we really got an answer, but all data is gratefully received and sorted. I feel like an anthropologist (you may call me Margaret, or Ms Mead) wandering happily in a strange land filled with interesting rules, rituals and rites of great complexity, and beautiful native boys and girls. We shall prevail and comprehend their coming of age ceremonies even though this isn't Samoa, and we aren't in Kansas anymore! We must continue to observe, probe (my fav) and participate.
