Hi guys! Just wondering where guys are going to find escorts after the RB fiasco. I am assuming it is RentMen.com , but do people know about that site? I have noticed an uptick in views on my ad since RB went down, but do people really know about that site?

 

Does anyone look for escorts in the PRO AD section on Adam4Adam?

 

I recently renewed my ad on Men4RentNow, but that site is such a piece of crap.

 

Where do we go from here?

Here are the options for clients of which I am aware: rentmen; men4rentnow; maybe massagem4m and masseurfinder, but most on there are not willing to provide full escort services; adam4adam pro section (but high percentage of stolen or "borrowed" pics); planetromeo/gayromeo; backpage; or contacting escorts directly from the contact info here in their reviews.

rentboy.com was the first site I always looked at. I have used rentmen and a4a (the PRO section) as well. I read that rentmen.com is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands so US Feds can't shut them down.

I always liked Rentmen the best, and was finally able to access it today. However the list of "into's " is now gone. This was always the most helpful feature. I am wondering if me might see a return to ads in the local gay press like " Frontiers" in L.A. It would of course all be local so the Feds could not claim jurisdiction. Just a thought. Yes, 'intos' have been removed and so have other filters. It's clear Rentmen is altering the site slowly to avoid the issues that ultimately shut down Rentboy. A necessary move for sure. And though Rentmen rather gleefully proclaims its 'protection' via Amsterdam, the site nonetheless knows that it benefits most significantly from U.S. based advertisers, particularly in NYC and L.A. Advertisers in Amsterdam? 28. NYC? Nearly 200, and growing since the recent migration.

Some of us do, Michael -- it's where I found you several years ago, after all, LOL... But the site's visibility online is middling at best... And, as of late, an increasing number of users in the U.S. are having issues accessing the site, and no one has any idea why.

I agree that the M4RN software often seems creaky and outdated, yet, in smaller geographical areas like my small Midwestern city, I have found many, many great traveling guys through seeing their ads on M4RN! For the major metropolitan areas such as NYC, Chicago, Dallas, etc. RB was always the best for me. Now I do hope RentMen may be able to adjust to the traffic and work as well or almost as well as RB. Of course, the reviews on M4RN don't seem as trustworthy as on Daddy's Reviews but I guess we'll just have to wait to see if everything levels out eventually.

 

Keep on checking out everything that's available. It appears that RB shows the "seized" page in NYC and vicinity although I seem to have no trouble accessing it from here the Midwest, and that includes the links in forum posts!

Not for nothin' but I LOVED the old AOL "Companions" Chatrooms. They were divided by City and you talked/exchanged pix etc REALtime etc. I RECOGNIZE the outmoded aspect, the scort would always have to be "on" etc but in the early/mid 90's pre RB etal, it was a JOYOUS upgrade from the newspaper/magazine ads we were relagated to

As with a lot of people, Rentboy was the first place I went, followed by an intense search on Daddy's or Muscle Forum regarding any finds. I might also contact a guy for info. Then, if nothing suited me, I would go to Rentmen but the selection was not as wide. Any finds that were then investigated as if I had found them on Rentboy. The small pics just exacerbated me to much to use M4RN. It was too cheap to get a membership. A4A in my city had some guys in the PRO section but not all that much and I never mastered being able to comb the non-professional guys to find one that might be advertising. Never used Craigslist or Backpage just because I couldn't figure out how to approach guys in those pages.

Although I go to www.boytoy.com for the "written words" in the various forums-- I, too, have had difficulty when it comes to seeking out escorts via the site. I've written a few reviews, but my trying to maneuver for other purposes has been completely futile. The site itself is not that user-friendly!

After their last update the 'safe sex/anything goes' section was inadvertently missing on the mobile site. I informed Rick and he had the programmers fix it. I noticed the same thing you did about the 'into-s' list today. And the 'safe sex' section has disappeared from both the full website and the mobile. I wonder if these are temporary screw-ups of some kind or response to the Rentboy fiasco. I have a Conversation into Rick. But he hasn't gotten back with me yet.

I hate that people are having difficulty with RentMen. I could not have picked a worse time to visit one of the most expensive cities (SF) for four nights. I had paid for a travel ad on RB and also paid the $200 fee to Power Boost the ad for the weekend, just one day before the raid. Of course my credit card company will take care of that, but it didn't make me less uneasy that I was heading into this trip without a high profile advertisement and, likely, being the last transaction that RB took. Yikes!

Michael, may I suggest you put an ad on A4A. One of my favorite SFO guys always keeps an ad up there. I have met guys there and like the ability to message people and see who is online. Just might give you some extra exposure while there.
