It's comical how often I read the words, "Gasquet is not gay" in searching for photos. Most French journalists would disagree. Whatever his sexuality, Gasquet has made it into his third tennis grand slam semi-final. The bad news, it is Gasquet (France) against Novak Djokovic (Serbia) on Friday, July 10, 2015. Djokovic is ranked #1 and won eight grand slam tounaments to Gasquet's zero grand slam wins.

I have seen Gasquet play at the U.S. Open in N.Y. He does have a great ass but is seldom as big a personality as he was yesterday in that long match at Wimbledon.

I remember seeing a photo of Gasquet in a French magazine when he was about 4 years old, and the French were already claiming he would be the next tennis superstar. A quarter century later, it still hasn't happened. The biggest news he made was a few years ago when he was suspended for testing positive for cocaine, and he claimed that it was because a girl who had been using it kissed him by surprise in a disco. He did play a superb defensive match against Wawrinka yesterday, but I think he will be toast against Djokovic tomorrow. He does have a pretty face, though.

Gasquet did not win a set against Djokovic today at Wimbledon, but he played well against the #1 seed and #1 player in the world. "Well" meaning better than his other matches against Djokovic, excpet the match Richard won.

The rumors that Richard Gasquet is gay don't come out of thin air, nor are they the fruit of some gay fan's overactive imagination. Now a veteran of the tour at 29, I don't know if there has ever been a woman in Gasquet's player's box. For those of you unfamiliar with the sport, at every tournament the players of each match get a box reserved for their entourage, that is, their coach, trainer, physio, sometimes their family, friends, agent, and usually whoever they're currently dating or married to. The other three semifinalists had their wives in attendance, all of whom have been fixtures on the tour for years now. I saw a few handsome Frenchmen in Gasquet's box, but not a single woman. The same is true of another top-ranked French player, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who's also a veteran on tour. All those years on tour and never a single woman in your player's box? Yuppers, people are just gonna assume you're gay.

BSR, It's nice to believe that some lucky guys may have screwed Richard Gasquet. But, you have not proved that he's gay by who is sitting in his box at tennis matches.

 

I think he is gay also. If so, Gasquet is smart not to get into a bearding situation. In person at tennis matches, Gasquet is a quiet "no drama" person, which seems to carry over into his personal life.

It all began in early 2007 when Gasquet was first questioned about his sexuality, sparking some fairly angry denials by the French standout. Then, it got a little bit more involved.

 

After competing at the Tennis Masters Cup in China in November 2007, Gasquet wasn’t even directly asked about the rumors surrounding his sexual preferences when he made sure to let everyone know that he is not, in fact, gay. Per OutSports, Gasquet was asked “Who is the girl watching your match with your uncle?” and he proceeded to answer, “Not my girl. I don’t know. Not my girl, for sure. No, no, no, I have just friends. Men friends, but I’m not gay.”

 

The rumors have persisted ever since and, as recently, as this year, Gasquet has denied claims that he is gay. In a recent interview with Society, he denied suggestions that he was in a relationship with businessman Arnaud Lagardere.

Arnaud Lagardere and Richard Gasquet. Gasquet looks young in the photo, so it was taken a while ago. Lagardere and Gasquet for years have said that they did not have, and are not having, a sexual relationship.

 

French journalists at the U.S. Open in NYC use the word "Flake" more than "gay" when they talk about Gasquet, but they are mostly just confused about him.

 

Note: I have seen Gasquet play in person at the U.S. Open more than any other recent players other than Serena Williams and Roger Federer.

It's interesting that in that odalisque pose, Tipsarevic has managed to conceal all those tats, including the quote from Nietzsche. I have watched him practice shirtless at Indian Wells, and it is an impressive physique. He has some of the most elaborate practice routines I've ever seen, with numerous rubber cones which he maneuvers around.

Charlie, the quote that Tipsarevic tattooed on his arm is from Dostoevsky, "Beauty will save the world." It's my 2nd favorite quote tattooed on a tennis player's arm. Number one is Stan Wawrinka, who after a heartbreaking loss 12-10 in the 5th to Djokovic at the 2013 Australian Open, tattooed this Samuel Beckett bit of wisdom on his arm: "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." Wawrinka bounced back from that devastating loss to beat Novak in the 2014 Australian quarters (and go on to win the final) and played the match of his life to beat #1 Novak again in the Roland Garros final this year.

 

But enough philosophizing ... I don't know how I could forget Grigor Dimitrov, who IMHO is the prettiest guy on the men's tour. He's always had incredible looks (he did some model for Armani), but lately he's gotten awfully fit. He's still thin (no need for big bulky muscles in tennis; they just weigh you down), but a lot harder and more defined ...
