I think there's a big difference between renting out a home via AirBnB/VRBO and a condo. A single-family residence has a lot more privacy, and the impact of travelers coming and going should be minimal to anyone but Gladys Kravitz. AirBnB condo renters, on the other hand, are far more intrusive on the other condo residents: the constant in & out traffic, the oftentimes late hours of that traffic, the racket of luggage being wheeled around on hardwood floors, etc. If I lived in an SFR, I wouldn't care much if a neighbor rented their house out via AirBnB, as long as the renters weren't throwing wild parties, cooking meth, or hiding out from law enforcement. The condo complex I live in has a strict NFW clause prohibiting AirBnB/VRBO/etc. rentals. With units above and all around me, I don't think I could stand to live in a condo building that did allow such rentals.

Nothing to say of the constant 'hourly' traffic coming and going from this venue, I was told to be quiet when leaving so as to not upset the neighbors. Or tip the neighbors off?

Didn't Killian James brag in this forum that he hosted his clients at an AirBnB property in Washington, D.C.?

You have to be really silly to even remotely think about escorting at someone's AirBnB property.

NOVEMBER 23--The owner of a California mansion alleges that she was duped into renting out the property via Airbnb to a firm that produces hardcore gay porno films and left the 1920s property http://thesmokinggun.com/sites/default/files/assets/michaellucas15.jpgawash in enema kits, various "sexual devices," and assorted bodily fluids, according to a lawsuit.

Kristina Knapic, owner of the Acacia Mansion in Ojai, a city 80 miles northwest of Los Angeles, charges that she agreed to lease the property for five days in mid-August to a woman who claimed that she and a “group of friends” would stay at the $1095-a-night home “for a quick summer vacation.

People always tend to focus on the negative of new things (Airbnb, uber, etc.) as if the old things don't have negatives either. I'm an avid supporter of Airbnb. Airbnb is not the problem here...The lady who rented out her mansion and did not use all the tools at her disposal is. A little porn shoot in your Airbnb never hurt anyone. :D

Life can be a lot more enjoyable if you approach risk by realistically assessing and mitigating it, not straining to eliminate it at any cost. The gentleman in black with the formaldehyde pump will help us out with the latter only too soon.

Is there a rating system that the owner of the system can use for those who rent the property? I know theres one for the owner of the property.

Hugs,

Greg

Yes the review system works both ways. Also people can be verified with IDs. I suppose if you had someone else with positive reviews and verification book it for you though there is no way to prevent that...well dont hand the keys to someone else...but that would be asking too much. Haha!

I also considered Air BnB once-- fuck that, all the "room for rent" things really freaked me out! Haha! FUCK THAT! I'll stick to priceline hoeing'

And even when it's advertised as a whole apt., seems like half the time renters find the landlord lives directly above or beside, watching your comings & goings like Cerberus.

No, better to say btw this might happy, instead of promising, I'll never do anything like receiving friends at home.

Btw, how do the renters know he's not hosting/housing more guys in the same place and all guests are just arriving and leaving?

Nothing good ever comes from dealing with him...

I don't think a gay man would rent a place like that, maybe this other pic would be a way to know someone rented their home for escorting.

A party promoter is using Airbnb to rent out his Bronx pad for booze-fueled debauchery that includes strippers and women licking whipped cream off each other, neighbors and a state official say.

“It’s like the Airbnb version of ‘Animal House,’ ” said disgusted state Sen. Jeff Klein.

MENLO PARK, Calif. --

A Bay Area woman said she was left to deal with a massive cleanup at her home after it was trashed by a sex worker who rented it on the popular home-sharing website Airbnb.

According to homeowner Sharon Marzouk, evidence suggested the renter was shooting pornographic photos and videos inside the Menlo Park house.

Marzouk posted video to Facebook showing a huge mess. Her home sustained extensive water damage after the Airbnb guest allegedly left the bathtub running, Marzouk said.

"There was water pouring from the second floor to the first floor," the host said in a Skype interview.

Marzouk believed it was an accident, but damage estimates have exceeded $10,000.

"The place is destroyed," she said.

Marzouk said Airbnb was slow to respond when she called to report the damage.

The woman renting the room had told Marzouk she was a real estate agent, but things didn't add up.

"I realized that I didn't know who the person in my house was," Marzouk said. "As the pieces fell into place that she was more than likely using my bathroom as a business to take photos of herself."

The homeowner believes the guest installed extra lighting in the bathroom, then later left behind sex toys and a handwritten list of pornographic pictures she was planning to shoot.

"I gave my key to someone who Airbnb didn't even check their identification," Marzouk said.

In a statement, Airbnb spokesman Nick Shapiro said, "We have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and have removed this guest from our platform."

Airbnb offers multiple safeguards, according to the company's website. It states hosts can vet renter on Airbnb.com by requiring them to provide government-issued identification.

The company said it was working to cover the cost of the damage at Marzouk's home.

I wouldn't rent my personal home to anyone, ok the Pope would be alright. Do most people who put their homes on Airbnb do it for money? And if someone needs Airbnb money isn't the writing on the wall its time for them to sell, get a better job or something?

I know tons of people are ok with properties being used by Airbnb customers. I'm glad my municipality only allows if for peoples primary homes and has to be for a month I believe. If I wanted to live next to a hotel I'd have bought a home where they are zoned. I'm lucky none of my neighbors are into Airbnb and the rental properties I have that are in HOAs prohibit anything less than 6 months.

Be careful with the Pope. I rented my beach condo to a rep from The Wholly Sea (like an AirBnB for beach properties) last December and they trashed the place. The guy said it was just going to be a man, woman and baby and maybe their donkey (which I nixed because of our no pet policy) with that 3 other guys might drop by.

13 guys showed up! Food everywhere, all the sinks, toilets and bathtubs were filled with wine, there were dead fish all over the pool deck and some kind of reddish stains by all the doors.

The only good part is that I had an old 36" flat screen TV that was dead that suddenly started working again.
