Unfortunately, I am headed to a place tomorrow in the upper northeast that will only have a high of about 2 or 3 degrees. The low's are well into the negative teens at night. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a trip to some nice tropical island right now.......:p

The weather hasn't had an effect on biz for me yet. In fact the last two clients actually had to turn the heat off in their rooms because it was uncomfortable.

Gore's speech today on Gl;obal warming!

Did anyone hear Gore's speech today about Global Warming?

I understand he was to make the point, that this cold spell in the NorthEast where he was to speak, is due to GLobal Warming!

Perhaps few went to hear him speak, since they did not have enough antifreeze to handle the cold!

Derek and I braved the cold to see him live in person. Great speech!

Having spent a few frozen winters in Connecticut and Michigan, I offer the following suggestions:

o Make sure the antifreeze in your vehicle is strong enough for this cold snap. You don't want your engine to freeze and pop-out your freeze plugs located on the bottom of your engine.

o Put an electric dip-stick in your car and plug it in at night to keep the oil from congealing.

o Use layers of clothing and don't leave your skin (such as your nose) exposed. Frostbite isn't fun.

o Make sure you have an alternative source of heat in case you lose electricity. (For example, a gas oven can help take off the cold edge. A Coleman lantern can help heat a room. Kerosene heaters really smell but do great during a power outage.) But, be sure to ensure that you closely monitor carbon monoxide levels.

o Naked bodies, laying against each other in a sleeping bag, is warmer (and more fun) than sleeping separately.

o Snuggling with your dog can also generate heat. (I believe the term "3 Dog Night" started in Alaska and referred to how many dogs were required in bed to keep you warm.)

It's cold where I'm at but certainly not as bad as the Northeast area. I feel sorry for you guys.

He's right.

Scientists supporting global warming theories say that it's responsible for weather extremes at both ends of the spectrum. Extreme hot and extreme cold weather are both results of global warming.

People also laugh about Al Gore "inventing the internet". The reality is that the original spending bill for DoD's ArpaNet (which became today's internet) was co-sponsored by the junior Senator from Tennessee, Al Gore. He may not have invented it, but he was certainly instrumental in getting it paid for.

I don't know why I'm so soured on today's "media byte" reality, but I am. x(

We accidently left the back door unlocked last night and a powerful gust of wind blew it open, setting off our security alarm system. So at 1am we were standing around in our nightclothes, with the temperature near zero, explaining to the police what had happened. And some people wonder why we want to move to Palm Springs as soon as possible!
