When Lukas appeared at A Different Light bookstore in NY three or four years ago, he drew one of the biggest crowds ever. He has not had a new video out in year. But, if you are planning to go, you should probably get there early.

Even though no money has been forthcoming from Hooboy, I ventured out tonight in the 3 degree heat (-15 windchill) with Cooper and the b/f to see Lukas.

Guys, if you were worried that Lukas might be a little long in the tooth, fret not. He looks good. Very good. And so angelic. You would never dream that he has done all of those nasty things!

He wore a light blue sweater to set off his iceberg eyes. His teeth are white as snow, and that smile comes so easily. So did a couple of dozen other brave souls who ventured out to see him.

Lukas grabbed my hand and held it in his as his eyes met mine...well, we did shake hands and then I put my arm around his warm body (just like Johann) as our picture was taken. Even as I type this my right hand is wrapped in plastic so the smell lingers from his touch.

 

Cooper and the b/f were less impressed, I think. Cooper was still excited because Al Leiter, John Franco, David Wells and several other athletic guys were sitting at the table right next to us at dinner. And we thought it was a gay restaurant! If Andy Pettite had been there too I would never have made it to see Lukas.

He's lucky I did. At least I am sure he thinks so.

Lucky, I have no influence. I'm just a lucky no-talent hack that stumbled across an idea and some really fine people and I thank my own lucky stars most days -- sometimes when I wake up and I find that some people are unhappy, I know I get bitchy, but I'm trying to change.
