I'm apparently more tolerant of theft than a lot of people around here.

In my opinion $150 is a lot to be tolerant of. When I first started hiring 12-1/2 years ago, that was a common fee for a one hour meeting. Actually pretty much any amount would be too much. The guy was STEALING. If he's willing to steal from a steady client or really any client at all- how could you ever trust him? If someone had robbed me, I think without some pretty horrific extenuating circumstances (eg Les Miz-Jean Valjean -"My sister's child was close to death. And we were starving."). I'd have to let my big head overrule my little one in this case.

I actually been screwed over so much worse by escorts in the past, that the $80-$150 wasn't a big deal -- it was the act itself that was. But like I said he is smoking hot and so good in so many other ways. He didn't hurt me, blackmail me, threaten me, or other really bad things escorts have done to me in the past.

D2B, you are skating on thin ice here with your other history. Please start thinking with your big head!

One more vote in favor of hide the silverware and see him again. You're not picking a marriage partner here. A good lay can be hard to find and life is short.

Because there so many details that are missing, it's essentially impossible to comment in a meaningful way, but after hearing from a group of guys that would not only tolerate this, but welcome this "thief" back into their space, it has occurred to me that this is just another version of BDSM where the client, either consciously or unconsciously, seeks to be humiliated, abused and/or taken advantage of - "financial domination", if you will. My other thought is that there has always been a group of men on the Forum who will bend over backwards to support escorts regardless of their blatantly disrespectful, even illegal, behavior. We each bring our own neurotic need to the sexual table, and nobody should be surprised by the limitless ability of men to justify anything in the name of getting laid...I'm much more interested in the "Hookie rules" that Killian was talking about...

A thief is a THIEF. If your cleaning lady did it you'd fire her. (btw they're ALWAYS handsome and charming and good company, that's why Cary Grant and Robert Wagner played them:-)

I'm confused: The Cleaning Ladies, or Cary Grant and Wagner?

Thank god for gallahad - at least his comment was genuinely funny. This whole thread is almost surreal in its idiocy, IMHO…

On the other hand:

Please hire him again - and then report back on what was taken this time. But please then follow up with a real review so that those of us who think with our larger heads on occasion might have this additional piece of info when contemplating hiring.

Update for all those that asked.

I did meet with escort for another overnight appointment. I rented a cheap motel room. Unfortunately did not have a safe in room. So I brought only his fee, my phone, ID, 1 credit card and $25 additional cash for any unexpected expenses.

The hotel I got was a ways out and he had to drive a long way to get there. He did show up about 90 minutes late, but informed me by text periodically with the excuse(s).

He looked great, we had a decent session, went to bed. He woke me up very early in the morning to tell me he wanted to leave. I gave him his fee, which I had hidden in the room before he arrived. The $25 cash was missing from my pocket (but he did leave the ID and credit card).

So long story short, I got my confirmation that he's a thief, but it's possible to limit the damages by renting a hotel and bringing nothing with me. I also came to the conclusion that it just isn't worth it, no matter how good-looking he is (and he is very good-looking). So this was my last time with him, which is sad in a way because the physical attraction part was through the roof, his rates (including theft amounts were reasonable) and we had a good time together sexually. Unfortunately, the lack of trust and his disrespect for me is too much to overcome which is a shame because I would have hired this guy a whole lot if things were different.

Thanks again for all of your different perspectives on this. I also hope this brings this thread to a CLOSE, which I risk by posting the update I realize, but many had asked for.

Thanks for posting this followup, DTB. I've really valued your clarity and forthrightness throughout this exchange.

(I actually thought of your dilemma just the other day when I listened to this PlanetMoney episode & its discussion of how a "trade-off" like this can underscore the difference between stated vs revealed preferences.)

Great update D2B. I Always got the sense from your posts that you were going to re-hire...lol.. and while most here opposed, I think it was important for you to have some sort of closure to this whole ordeal. Hopefully you have learned from this and can move on. I admired the fact that you opened up about the experience, and still followed your gut and re-hired. Kudos to you on both counts...

Just a quick side note...Thanks for posting this Ryan, it made me laugh this morning. Interesting tape and quite revealing. Spirit airlines does have this whole formula down and it is a love hate relationship with many people, but unlike many who say they will never fly Spirit again, having flown them only once, I can safely say I will never fly them again...lol...in fact on the return leg, I ate the cost of the ticket and booked a one way on American. Thanks for the smiles.

This is completely useless information unless you submit a review (or reviews of both encounters). I'm pretty sure you'll have a reason to justify not submitting one, though.

I, too, appreciate your honesty. Reading through this thread, I realized that if I were really into an escort, I probably would have met up with him again. It was very smart of you to minimize the risks! I'm guessing there won't be an official review coming. I understand the reasons for that. I just hope not too many others hire this thief in the future.

I'm glad you understand the reasons for no review, humboldt, but I sure don't.

One suggestion to the OP, however: you may want to cancel that credit card - the guy may have the number written down along with the security code. As it stands right now, I believe he can probably make any number of online purchases with the information he has. Something to consider. . .

Hey Down_to_business.

I realize I am late to the party, but I couldn't let it go. Since I read your post it has been bugging me and had to come back. I realize you might actually hate me for writing this, but I kind of have to. And I am sorry.

How crazy would it be to give a second chance to an escort who helped himself to the cash in your wallet?

Totally crazy.

Not only crazy, but irresponsible, dangerous, illogical and incredibly unnecessary.

Some people have said a good lay is worth anything, just hide your valuables. They don't seem to realize that when someone dehumanizes you to the level in which it feels justified to steal, because it's kill or die, stealing is only the tip of the iceberg. You can hide your valuables as much as you want, but you are putting yourself at high risk by continuing a relationship with a criminal. People like this won't have any problem setting you up to be mugged, kidnapped, blackmailed, extorted, you name it. It's not 150 dollars. It's you becoming the facilitator, enabler and target of a criminal.

You might say "it was just a few bucks" but you also wrote:

But like I said he is smoking hot and so good in so many other ways. He didn't hurt me, blackmail me, threaten me, or other really bad things escorts have done to me in the past.

May I suggest that your allowing this kind of behaviour you are clearly and routinely putting yourself at risk? Isn't it a huge red flag that you have come across to such varied array of criminals? Do you think it is a coincidence?

This is not acceptable behaviour! You have to listen to the little voice in your head, not the loud voice coming from your dick.

I know of men who have hired all their lives and have never encountered a criminal. I know of men who have encountered nothing but. It is obvious you might not be a great judge of character, but there are things that you can do to minimize the risks; one of those things is, for example, to avoid people who have stolen from you.

Sex is amazing. Amazing sex is incredible but it is not rare. There are plenty of hot, sexy fish in the sea. There is nothing that is worth putting yourself at such great risks.

I sincerely hope you will realize that just because a man is hot he is not entitled to have an entirely different ethical code of conduct. Felonious is not sexy.

I can hear the "Ok, shut up, mom" so I will get off my sandbox. Take good care of yourself, man.

As others have stated, hiring him again is rewarding bad behavior.

And if you do, what is he going to swipe from you next time?

Well down2biz, you feel good now after doing your little experiment?

You are lucky you aren't like that counselor murdered at a high-end hotel in DC.

What will be you next case study?

From what I've heard ... including a flight my roommate took, and he's 5'1" (61 inches): I'd never fly them.

Mama used to say: Stupid is as stupid does. Forest Gump and many others. Glad you learned your lesson at a small cost. Now a review would be appreciated.

Or a third encounter, wherein you leave a mousetrap in your pants pocket ... no, that's probably illegal.

A motion detector with about a 90 dB siren and an animal trap camera could catch him in the act ...

How 'bout just leaving a note that says "Gotcha, Loser!" in your pants? Or maybe "You're on Candid Camera!"

Or perhaps some money wrapped in a set of Rosary Beads.

Reviving this thread because the strangest thing happened the other day. After no additional contact since confronting the escort about the missing money, he texts me out of the blue the other day to tell me something along the lines of he misses me and would like to know when we can get together again. Now that takes some big... well some big something.

Just went through this thread and did not see anything about confronting the escort about the thefts. I feel like we have seen Act 1 and Act 2 but have suddenly jumped to Act 4 without getting Act 3.;)

The sudden contact is odd, but my guess is that a theif is a theif and he wants to steal from you again (on top of his fee). I hope you don't let him.

Ah.. I didn't reread the whole thread before posting so I probably didn't remember that I cut it short in an effort to keep the thread on target about second chances and not to this specific escort. The confrontation was simply by text, when he kept asking why I hadn't responded to him. Finally I replied because you stole money from me TWICE and there really wasn't any point to it. He denied the accusation. I told him it was only me him and the money in my locked and deadbolted hotel room. he said how could I do this to him when he thought I cared about him. And that was how it ended until the other day.

There you have it- Act 3:)

No there isn't an act 5. Yes I did entertain it for all of 2 seconds (he is model good looking with a killer body (maybe a prediction)) and very good in the sack and reasonably priced even when factoring the stolen money into the equation). After the 2 seconds, fantasy time was over and reality set in. Game over! Still, I can't believe he texted.
