A lot of reminiscing last night folks, how about you? Jane Curtain, the shark, Coneheads, etc.

What I can't get over, Paul McCartney's performance of "Maybe I'm Amazed". At age 72 his voice is gone, stick a fork in him. He should have been part of sketch or announcing another act.

BTW, Miley Cyrus ---- Hannah Montana be alllll grown up!

Jane Curtin let loose the most SNL-like contemporary zinger of the night: "I used to be the only pretty blonde delivering fake news. Now there's a whole network devoted to that." (Cue the Fox News logo.)

It was OK, but a lot of self-masturbation by the current & former SNL cast. Nice to reminisce, though.

Ditto to McCartney...I cringed when he started to sing....thank God I had a little Merlot left, or it would have been too painful to watch. ;)

Other than that....Lots of great memories, and too much talent that is no longer among us. God Bless them.

Miley did a nice job with 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. Most of the show was terrible. Did like the clips and the news. As far as the former Beatle goes: "i'm Paul McCartney and i'll sing if I want to, sing if i want to, sing if I want to." Rest in Peace Leslie Gore.

I enjoyed watching SNL years ago, but never watch now. In fact, don't watch much "network" TV any longer.

There were great moments, but in general I find the approach to be throw it against the wall and see what sticks.

I get my laughs from Comedy Central now.

I just finished watching it on HuluPrime. I have to say I did enjoy and it brought a lot of memories back. Other than the brief mention of Charles Rocket and Brad Hall, Eddie Murphey was the only mention of the non Lorne Michaels years. The funny thing is that Julia Louis Dreyfus also came out of that era and I think she ended up with a career as big as Eddie Murphey's.

My only 2 complaints is that

1) I would have liked to have seen a little more on the SNL commercial spoof

2) Instead of the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg song about the breaking up during the sketches I would have rather seen clips of those sketches, not just snippets.

+1 here mmk123. Sandler / Samberg were lame, show us a full sketch, not a snippet that amounts to a tease.

+1 MassageGuy. I think the Belushi, Aykroyd years were just brilliant.

The less Sandler the better. Possibly the unfunniest, most puerile no-talent I've ever seen. (Oh I know - "tell us how you really feel," lol.)

I hate Sandler especially during one of his stupid silly songs. He should play the lottery...he'd probably win.

I thought this article about those who didn't attend was interesting. I haven't watched the whole show yet, but I was hoping to see Nora Dunn, Ellen Cleghorne and Julia Sweeney on stage. I'm not surprised Dennis Miller didn't show...could fellow right-wing wacko Victoria Jackson have been there? Was Robert Downey Jr there? Christopher Guest? Harry Shearer? John Goodman? (For a long time he was in the most frequent guest host club, along with Hanks and Baldwin.)

John Goodman was there, and was one of the questioners during the Q&A. Although he's lost enough weight you could be forgiven if you didn't recognize him.

I sang along with Leslie Gore many times. I think I even had her LP! Adam Sandler keeps trying to hold on to that silly stuff that bought him into the forefront... Been done too much. I hear his last few movies did not do well. Don't watch SNL anymore myself. Perhaps Leslie would sing, "It's Adams turn to cry, Adams turn to cry... "

Ellen Clegghorn was there and had a small part in the audience questions when she asked why there were not more black women. Seinfeld responded something to the effect that SNL could have done better and she replied something to the effect that she meant in general why weren't there more black women, that they should be popping up all over.

As far as Dennis Miller goes, he was probably off trying to be the smartest person in the room and laughing at his own jokes

The whole thing was lame, lame, lame. They should have just done a retrospective with clips and interviews. Trotting out dozens of people to read bad jokes off cue cards was boring and redundant.

Personally I could have done w/o most of the music (yes Sir Paul OMG WHY didn't he drop that song a few keys????? NO ONE has the range that they used to at that age so LOWER it oy!) The flashbacks to the great days were the best part, and those orig auditon tapes. Think they'd have been better off wrapping the whole opening around a scripted behind the scenes thing ALL the old cast members and old hosts waiting in the green room before the show backstabbing and fighting over who's gonna say LIVE FROM NY etc and the later (less talented) members trying to keep peace (or lock them in so they can take over lol). But the badly "read" opening jokes laid there like dead fish I agree.

Terribly funny in some spots, others terribly boring...

...and that about sums up the entire 40 years right there, folks!!!

I'm probably the only person in my generation who never watched an episode of either SNL or Seinfeld. I still can't get into TV.
