Are we allowed to post a .jpg or .gif files on the message board ?

URL addresses pointing to photos (.jpg files, for example) used to be expanded in-place so that the photo was visible with the rest of the posting. Now, only the URL address is displayed. Les' recent Belami posting demostrates this new behavior (at least from my machine).

 

It looks like the default message board behaviour has been changed in the last day or two.

Sorry, I disabled the feature whereby the links to pictures would show up as pictures here. I felt it was abused one too many times. I may reinstall it later when the cauldron of hatred simmers.

Any community needs art galleries, parks, museums. Posting pictures that we could access here without linking to another ville gave Hooville an added touch and I am sure brought many new hits. I am not aware of any instance where pictures were used to perpetrate hate.

Bring back art to Hooville!

I guess I have to fess up. It was simply a conspiracy hatched among the moderators, a few disgruntled readers and myself to force Rick Munroe to change his sig.

 

Now that he has seen the error of his ways, I am sure we can get back to ogling the "art."

However jocularly I can put this, I myself can remember a few times when pictures were used in a very ugly way. I still have an urge to windex my monitor every time someone uses that horrid picture of the tit with all the bullets added to it. To try to list any others would be just as negative of me as the people who posted them seemed to me to be.

Actually, HooBoy posted an explanation in reply #2 to the original post in this thread. He indicates that feature has been disabled due to abuse.
