Enough serious stuff. Shamelessly ripping off Unicorn's thread in the Gallery and asking for your celebrity crushes are (or, to frame the question slightly differently, the celebs you'd most want in your bed). Without regard to sexual orientation, here's an off-the-top of my head, not-sufficiently-caffeinated list that is in no particular order except for my top pick:

-David Bowie. The man is hugely talented and appeals to me on so many levels. 'Nuff said.

-Matt Bomer, lately of White Collar.

-Hugh Dancy of NBC's Hannibal.

-For good measure, Dancy's co-star, Mads Mikkelsen, who danced professionally (modern dance, I think) before becoming an actor.

-Chris Hemsworth. I prefer his look (and his acting) in Rush to that of Thor in the many MCU movies that are out there.

-Michael Ealy.

Some ultra-sexy men who are no longer with us:

-Toshiro Mifune, star of Shogun and many Akira Kurosawa films. Looks good in a suit (see Drunken Angel, his first movie with Kurosawa); looks good in a loincloth (see Seven Samurai). Since Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars was an unauthorized remake of Kurosawa's movie Yojimbo, starring Mifune, Mifune was The Man Without a Name before Clint Eastwood was. (Sanjuro, the name he gives his character in that movie, means "thirtysomething.")

-Paul Newman.

Robert Conrad - brings back extraordinary memories of those shirtless moments on "The Wild Wild West." I also had a thing for Michael Landon on "Bonanza" and Leslie Nielsen as Disney's "Swamp Fox."

Robert Conrad : those pecs, those biceps, that hairy chest, drove me absolutely crazy! Let's not forget the ass hugging tight pants:) A walking wet dream!

+1

Boomer, I was turned on by everything you list about Robert Conrad--and I would add his strong jaw and handsome face; his macho attitude and ability to defend himself against bigger guys; and (for me) his short stature--my recollection is that RC was quite short, and a short buff hairy guy pushes all my buttons.

My first celebrity crush was probably on David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin on The Man From UNCLE. I got why people thought his co-star, Robert Vaughn, was attractive, but I never particularly warmed up to the lantern-jawed look. These days I enjoy watching McCallum play medical examiner Donald "Ducky" Mallard on NCIS, but the spark of attraction I felt earlier is no longer there.

I'm tempted to start a thread or subthread about actors to whom we're attracted, but only (or primarily) in-character, like:

Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes on Sherlock. He hates the hairstyle because he thinks it makes him look too girly. Get with it, Benedict; a lot of us think you're more attractive with the curls.

James Marsters as Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Blasts from the past:

Brad Pitt circa Thelma & Louise

Mark Harmon circa St. Elsewhere (a great show I hardly ever see mentioned anywhere, and the first to my knowledge to depict a straight character with HIV/AIDS)

Robert Redford circa The Sting and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Oh wow! Me too! Clint Walker was one of the sexiest guys on t.v. ever. I remember in particular an episode of "Cheyenne" in which he was taking a bath in a big barrel that only reached to about mid abdomen, so you got long shots of his hairy chest and big arms, and I just shook with adolescent lust watching him. "Cheyenne" is playing on one of the nostalgia channels I get with my cable system and that episode was shown a couple of weeks ago. Even after 50 years, it is still really hot and had the same effect on me. He was a gorgeous man. I couldn't sleep one night a few months ago and was flicking through channels on t.v. when I came across "The Night of the Grizzly". He's shirtless in that movie quite a bit and it's a gorgeous site to behold!

People always look at me funny when I tell them who's on top of my list: Jason Bateman. All day long! We are the same age, I grew up with him on tv, but really fell in love with him on Arrested Development. And the older he gets, the better he gets. There's just something about that guy.

My very close #2 is Mark Ruffalo -- not so much the MR from "The Normal Heart" (although the scene where he threw the milk carton at his boyfriend was unbelievable) -- more the MR from "The Kids are All Right" or "Thanks for Sharing". Tall, strong, hairy, and a smile that goes on for days. He also reminds me very much of an escort I've seen haha!

(Oooh! Who's the Ruffalo-esque-escort namchebaz?)

But to the point of the thread, I will say that Patrick Duffy as The Man From Atlantis was a lifechanger. I was barely in elementary school but oh how that show thrilled me. Especially those opening credits...
