Thinking toward an LA trip, in which I hope to have just enough spare time to arrange a hire. I'll be staying in a nicer downtown hotel. I won't have a car and don't know the parking situation for my hotel or its surroundings. It'd be an evening hire, for an hour or so, probably on a Sunday night. Having spent a fair amount of time in LA, but never having hired there, I'm perplexed by the parking question. (Should I plan to cover the uber/parking costs? Or are such expenses just part of the cost of doing business in LA? Will downtown on a Sunday be easy enough? Or a total hassle?) I'm also not sure how to gauge the "too far" distance in a town like LA.

I'm mostly interested in getting a baseline on what I should have in mind so as to be a considerate client.

And also to determine whether it makes sense for me to host or not.

BTW: If you've got recommendations for LA guys, I'm all ears. Prefer a beefy guy in his 30s or older who enjoys having his ass worshiped. Fur, verbal, sense of humor -- each a definite plus. Looking for a "fuckbuddy experience" more than a "boyfriend experience"... Contact me through the usual channels if you like.

You said you have spent time in LA.

You do remember that downtown, in the evening is almost deserted, especially on a Sunday night.

There is virtually no foot traffic on the streets after dark in the downtown area. It is not safe for walking. There are lots of hobos on the street at night.

Whomever you hire, their going downtown LA in the evening would require a taxi or their parking at your hotel. This could be expensive, even for a short time.

Even though LA is large and with many wonderful things to see and do, downtown LA is not a night-time tourist area.

Sorry to be so negative. You asked your question in order to get a truthful answer, which you now have.

On the other hand, when you say "downtown" I assume you mean the areas near civic center or the music center or close to that neighborhood. If you mean Wilshire Boulevard, "close to" downtown, that area is fairly safe but on a Sunday night, you still will not encounter tourist foot traffic.

If you are more specific on the area or the name of the hotel, you will get a better answer.

What the other guys said.

"Downtown LA" covers a really wide area. But downtown hotels rings bells that signal paid-for parking and probably valet fees and tips. (At some hotels, guest can self-park. At others, it's valet-only.)

Just be nice about it and say you'll cover expenses. (And be prepared for what those are in LA.)

Yes. I have spent time in LA. As a visitor. Never a resident. Not enough time to appreciate the nuances. Hence my question. Jeez.

I'll be at the Biltmore.

Ah, the Millennium Biltmore -

That is a very old, but grand hotel. It was built around 1920 or so. It has gone through several upgrades. The lobby and interior and meeting rooms emit "old money" elegance.

That hotel, in addition to being a hotel, has fairly large meeting rooms for various professional meeting groups. I never stayed overnight at that hotel but I have been inside for lunches and dinners with clients and for meetings.

As I previously wrote, you will not see any tourism or foot traffic in the night time around the hotel. Clearly, you do not want to go out walking after dark.

The parking at the hotel is around forty dollars or forty-five during the day. I don't know how much it is at night. There is a parking structure nearby at a place called "Pershing Square" (one block away) but you will save only about twenty dollars by having your escort park there. Probably not worth the trouble to go to the other structure.

When you find an escort you like, you might consider having the person take a cab, depending on where the escort originates. If the escort drove to you, the hotel has valet parking only. Valet parking could be more than a cab cost. The streets around the hotel are all one-way and finding street parking would be extremely difficult.

I would like to give you better news but your hotel is where it is. It is workable if you set up the meeting with caution.

It seems like your hotel should have parking for visitors. Check with them ahead of time to find out. You would think a 4 star hotel would. If not, there is plenty of street parking in that area, and on Sunday night it would be free. Most escorts that live in LA should have a car, so I don't see why they would take a taxi. Furthermore, as for gas and/or parking fees, I really don't see why you should pay them extra for that. All escorts have an "outcall" rate which I'm sure takes into account all the little extra fees like gas, parking etc which they might have. Outcalls rates are usually higher than incall rates for that reason.

Downtown hotels in LA (particularly those as old as The Biltmore) charge everyone for parking. And it isn't cheap.

I wouldn't leave my car on the street and walk to a hotel in downtown LA and I doubt many escorts would, either. Pershing Square is not exactly savory during the day, so parking there at night is probably not something most guys will want to do. Be prepared to pay for their parking at your hotel. Most guys will have cars and drive, so you probably do not have to worry about a taxi or uber/lyft.

You might want to do an incall and take a taxi or uber to the escort's place.

Surprised at all the negativity about downtown LA. I've stayed at the Sheraton, the Westin, the LA Hotel Downtown (former Marriott) and a few in Japan Town. For a major city downtown LA is quiet at night but there is a thriving (straight) club scene. I've parked on the street and walked around at night and have never felt threatened. There's also great historic architecture to explore during the day. If you can stand the hipsters, check out the Nickel Cafe on S. Main for breakfast. Close to your hotel and great home made donuts.

Oh yeah, and you should expect to pay for your escort's parking. Even if there is on street parking it's the courteous thing to do.

I stayed at the Biltmore a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time exploring downtown; I think you'll have a good time just walking around and getting a feel for this part of the city; and as for hires, while I was there I had the opportunity to have Roman meet me; he might just be your cup of tea, too.

I have stayed there, and at the time it had the best elevators of anywhere I have ever been. A small thing, but a good sign.

I'd suggest you seek recommendations via "Deli!" Just write what you have after your "BTW." Now if you choose to write more-- do so, please! :) :) Check out Kristian! He's gorgeous and from his reviews both of you should enjoy the "rimming!"

I get the feeling that imrthr hasn't been downtown in LA at night in a very, very long time. Deserted? hardly. Various neighborhoods downtown are now full of people, packed restaurants, clubs, etc. Condo buildings are going up to keep up with demand of people moving in. Staples are is tourist-crowded. Are there bad areas? Of course, just like any city. You need to have your wits about you most anywhere. Try this for starters: http://www.lanightlife.com/neighborhoods/nlist/name/downtown

http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America/United_States_of_America/California/Los_Angeles-753836/Warnings_or_Dangers-Los_Angeles-Downtown_at_Night-BR-1.html

The above link presents a cross section of opinions concerning “downtown” Los Angeles. Only some of the comments refer to night time.

As noted in the above cited article, there were people who visited downtown and those people had no problems and those people had good things to say about downtown. However, the comments were not isolated to the area of the Biltmore nor isolated to after dark in downtown Los Angeles.

Looking through the link, you will notice that some of the posters discussed areas away from downtown. Therefore, those posts are not part of a valid observation for purposes of answering the question of the OP.

Some posters in the article discussed walking downtown during the day and feeling uncomfortable while others discussed walking downtown and feeling secure. Again, daytime walking cannot logically be compared to night time walking with respect to downtown Los Angeles.

The quoted poster in this forum wrote, among other things, “ - - - imrthr hasn't been downtown in LA at night in a very, very long time. Deserted? hardly. Various neighborhoods downtown are now full of people, packed restaurants, clubs, etc. Condo buildings are going up to keep up with demand of people moving in. Staples are is tourist-crowded.”

I do not know how long a “very, very long time” is but a few months ago I drove (at night) through the area (not far from Biltmore) on our way to the downtown, Los Angeles Music Center. Driving through the area was just as I and others have described it, i.e., essentially deserted of foot traffic.

So far as Staples is concerned, Staples is NOT within a safe walking distance of the Biltmore. According to Google maps, Staples is a 20 + minute walk from the Biltmore. Making such a walk at night would invite a disaster such as a robbery or mugging, at a minimum.

let us not lose fact of the question of the OP. He asked about a possible contract with an escort going to his downtown (Biltmore) hotel. He did not ask about walking anywhere with the escort.

I repeat the cautions I previously presented.

If others disagree or want to feel comfortable ignoring the crime rate and the lack of foot traffic in the area of the Biltmore, so be it. Good luck to those who risk walking in the area at night.

  • 3 weeks later...

Update for those who might be interested:

Spent much of the last week in downtown LA, crisscrossing on foot (often after dark, often alone) between the Biltmore and a handful of restaurants, other hotels and performance spaces in the area (mostly between Figueroa and Main, along 5th, 6th & 7th). It's clearly a complex & changing neighborhood, with new upscale restaurants/etc abutting businesses and agencies serving a less upmarket demographic. So, yes, one must definitely be on alert, but the area is really fun and interesting, with a broad mix of people moving through it constantly. (And I did arrange a meeting with a certain "Roman" fellow, and he knew exactly how to maneuver the "LA logistics" -- among other things...) Thanks as always, gents, for the clarifying guidance.

I'm also in LA for a few days around Thanksgiving. I'm staying at the Andaz in W Hollywood. How is that area and hotel for logistics? I assumed that W Hollywood would be an area where most escorts would know and could get to with no problem. Did I assumed right/wrong?

Thanks.

The location is absolutely perfect....or 'perfetto' (did I get that right WG?)

BUT...there always is a but, you are not near a freeway. Yes escorts will know the area, but getting to you is another matter. You should note, that traffic on Sunset Blvd, Santa Monica Blvd, and surrounding West Hollywood streets during peak commute hours are absolutely horrendous, that includes evening hours on the weekends also, like Friday and Saturday nights (dining hours)... Everyone in LA has their favorite short-cut, and everyone in LA knows yours. There are no secrets anymore...lol...so you should allow them plenty of time to get to your location, or you to them, should you decide to dine out. All of this is a mute point, if the escort lives in WEHO, like Rod Hagen, then travel times would be greatly reduced.

Good luck and I hope that you enjoy your visit to SoCal.
