Thank goodness that I have a younger "houseguest,"

a previous hire who has been living here for over a year now.

He gives me a point of view that would not be available

to me otherwise.

I'm on my second personal trainer at the gym - the first one

went for a new, and incredible job.

This one: On our second session, he asked whether it was okay

for him to touch me: Never inappropriately, just to show me where

I should be feeling my muscles contract.

I found out last week that he and his wife are going out

for a weekend "couples retreat." Before that, he told me that

he'd had to buy her a bottle of wine, to apologize to her.

He made sure to tell me, today, that 8/11 is his birthday.

He's done some other odd things. One day, when I wasn't following

what he was doing, he lifted his shorts slightly beyond half-way to his

crotch, so I could see his (rather nicely developed) quads.

Beyond that: One day, he decided he couldn't see what I was doing

with my quads and knees, so he just knelt and rolled up my shorts

to about half-way up my thighs.

I'm confused ... comments?

I really think you're over thinking all of this. it's verging on the ridiculous

It sounds like he is doing what a trainer ought to do: validate his client is doing exercises correctly. Regarding the other comments, it sounds like he is doing what people do: talk about his personal life.

I've seen a lot of trainers (male and straight female) show me their muscles movements in the same way. Even if he is gay and interested, being married makes it harder for him to take the leap to a physical relationship with a guy.

IMO, the most important indicator is body language: Is he mirroring you? When you're talking to him after the session, are his feet pointing towards you or is he looking at the door?

I am fortunate enough to have had a number of handsome personal trainers, all straight. I am also fortunate enough to have become friends with many of them. It has been my experience that most personal trainers like to have their body admired. They are also keenly aware that a little flirting is good for client retention...gay and straight. So, my advice is to just enjoy it, tip him well, and leave it at that. He's married, and that's that.

You shouldn't read too much into it. It's something considered "normal" by personal trainers and probably it would be wise not to build up any false hopes based on that.

In a similar vein, I have a very handsome doctor who at the end of the exam asked me to bend over and then he put his finger up my ass. Is he coming on to me?

I failed to mention he is a psychiatrist.

Has he removed it yet?

Has he mentioned your nuts?

The answers to these two questions should reveal a great deal.

Although perhaps you're already getting a great deal. http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

In reply to the original thread of this post.... relax... and don't read so much into what is happening. All of the personal trainers I have ever had have been married, and as far as I know are straight. Howver, in the course of their training they have had their hands in many different places on my body to make sure I understood what he was trying to accomplish for various muscle groups, including strengthening my groin area, etc. He has also shared a lot about his personal life, but never once did I ever think or feel that he was doing anything other than helping me with my exercise regime. You are over thinking and fantasizing about some things that are most likely just not there.

I am not going to comment about purplekow's contributions !!!

I'll add my voice the rest. Don't be confused. He is not flirting with you, he is just doing his work. It has been studied how physically touching one's clients has positive effects on the relationship. This applies to different occupations, like waiters and trainers.

Stop being distracted by that and really try to find out whether you are getting his full attention during the session, whether his explanations and modifications allow you to perform optimally and whether you are getting the desired results or not. That's what really matters.

Good for you for being proactive about your fitness and health!

OR....don't be confused....he's just doing his job and he's flirting with you.

Trainers flirt all the time.

Stupid they're not.

But, if you think it's anything more than that, you're a fool.

Of course, as always Juan is more correct than I am, but it is fun to play with words!
