Dear Dave,

The new site looks sharp and updated BUT without pictures of the men (they do not have to show faces if they do not want to do that), it is worthless. I bet your business falls off. I would add photos and descriptions of your men ASAP; even bring back the old site with updated men pictures and additions. For example, on your landing page I recognize Greg; I have hired him and will do so again BUT I want to know who is the other smoking hot guy!!

 

You need to show the merchandise to make a sale.

They might be right about that Dave. Sometimes just looking at guys on your site was what made me decide to hire in the 1st place. Years ago I remember an agency in DC that aas around for years. You had to join- possibly pay-to see more than a few sample descriptions along with a couple of headless physique pictures. I stopped looking at the site because of the lack of information.

I'm glad to hear that Greg is back and working with you. He's an incredibly sweet guy and one of the best guys around in LA.

 

With all due respect related to the new site, it's totally worthless as a client resource. Without photos of the guys on the site there is little reason for a client to consider hiring one of your guys. Furthermore the color scheme is uninviting and the scroll completely illegible. At least that's how it appears on an iPad.

 

I can understand the need to streamline the site but this design is not practical.

Most of my hires have been here at home in Philly. If Premier didn't have pics, I wouldn't bother using them. Same for Rentboy or any other site. When I go out of town and intend to hire, I like to look at the "menu" and then do my research based on what I see that I like. If I had to take an extra step and ask to see who is available in a city I'd be visiting, I'd move on to somewhere else. In fact, I have planned trips at times because I saw someone available in a certain city and I wanted to have an appointment. I fear this decision will cost you.

I have to join the chorus of guys who think the lack of listings and photos is a bad idea. If a guy is traveling to LA and look at your site they will probably go to Rentboy and book an escort directly.

I think that's what the problem is ... some guys, but not all, are not only available through the agency but also directly through RB and other escort sites (at a lower fee). In some cases, the pictures on Dave's old site were exactly the same as the RB pictures, or similar enough to recognize the escort. If Dave posts the pics of his guys on his page, it becomes possible to go direct and avoid fees. Which is too bad, because Dave made an effort to 'market' the guy ... I agree with many of you that the new site is not very enticing, but I also understand why Dave did it. He needs to establish a rapport with the client somehow to justify his fees.

 

Having said that, I am glad that 'Greg' is back in business. He is a delight to deal with - especially in bed. Is there anybody out there who hasn't slept with Greg yet? This guy is a real 'find'.

Your remarks here have been both constructive and INstructive, and I've taken your points to heart.

 

I am working with my webmaster to restore my website to its more user-friendly state. I am battling the dilemma of "potential" clients who want to see as many pics as possible against several of my A+ escorts who don't want any pics of them posted on an escort website (due to career, family, military etc etc...). As we all do so often in life -- I will attempt to seek a middle ground solution that will be acceptable to all parties.

Going direct was always a problem in the agency business; not just seeing the same picture on Rentboy but after the first hire, the escort giving out his direct number in hopes of a second hire.

 

Some escorts were very loyal and even wit ha client knowing their direct contact information would say to always go through the agency; Greg was one such loyal escort and for rehires told me only to go through Dave for hiring purposes. Ross was the same with Maximum in NYC and though I had his personal number, always said to use the agency for scheduling. These loyal guys appreciated the services the agency did for them and saved them the hassle of dealing with clients (yes, clients can be hard to deal with:flakes, telephone-tag, people wanting just to "talk" and never hire, etc) and promotion (maintaining advertising on-line and in the "old days", print advertising), etc. These guys did not mind paying for the services the agencies performed.

 

I like using agencies because I only had to make one call and there was none of making a call and waiting (sometimes days) for a call back, if ever; once the agency knew me, they could steer me to a specific man they knew I would like or away from a man they felt I would not like (Dave is good at this and never wanted to make a "sale" at the expense of the long term relationship); I felt it was "safe" having the agency men come to my home rather than a man I never met and just hired off the internet; the good agencies like Dave just made hiring easier than going direct.

 

For me, I did not mind paying a little extra for the services the agency provided. In the scope of things, the difference was slight.

 

Dave, if you are reading this thread, the vote is 100% to put in pictures; take down the new site and go back to the old one. Just add the new men from your news letter and maybe update the old pictures.

Just to clarify, I wasn't referring to guys who work through Dave and also advertise on Rentboy.I was referring to the ability to go to Rentboy and find escort ads complete with descriptions, pictures, and contact information regardless whether they work for Dave.

I think Dave is, in part, trying to deal with "clients" who look at the (original) site, ask him for more pictures, and have no intention of booking....he has highly promoted his newsletter to us here at the board in an effort to develop a "VIP" email list of trusty clients....and some of us know he has several escorts who do not want to be listed in the public website pages.....

 

all of this is primarily a marketing/business concern and Dave is trying to deal with the whole internet thing, flaky clients, privacy of escorts, etc......

I will be adding a couple more studs to the site (including Greg and my new NYC stud, Jake) later today. I will chalk this up to an experiment that didn't work -- but fortunately it was fixable.

With Dave's multiple markets, it would be hard for him to do what Maximum did, which is photograph all their men themselves, and thereby have exclusive photos (and possibly also with distinct 'stage' names) on the agency roster. That's one of many things I admired about Maximum - you could see that they acted as an agency down to every last image. If Dave and the escorts agree that the agency-shot pictures remain exclusive to the agency, that would differentiate the escort as part of M2M versus when they simultaneously strike out on their own, if they do.
