Location: 60 NE 11th street Miami

 

Soft Grand Opening: September 6

 

Official Grand Opening: September 12

 

Days/Hours: Wed to Sat 9:00pm till

9:00am

 

One of the managers from the old SR's will be working at Therapy now. I'm told it will be a private club and all nude. Sounds interesting.

I hope our good friend BVB will check it out for all of us. He is an expert judge of all things "clubs" and has exquisite taste as well ! I know that is a bit of a distance for him to go, but he needs to take one for the team and investigate !!

In what sense is it a private club? Can you just buy a membership at the door, or is membership separated from arrival with intent to commit merriment?

 

We'll have to wait and see once it opens. Having said that, I suspect it will operate the way Cupid's Miami handled things when they were still open. One would present photo ID at the door and they would register the details in writing, one would sign the paper, pay the cover charge....and then enter.

Why thank you DD for the vote of confidence....but you are correct, Miami is a bit of 'hike' for me. I might check it out next month. Friends are coming in for a visit, and we are heading to the Keys. A stop in Miami is doable.

I don't think the current facebook info is accurate as the information contained seems to be more related to the club's previous encarnation. The club is supposedly in the process of transitioning over to male strippers. If I were them, I would get an accurate webpage and facebook page lined up stat so people could see the current/correct information. A flyer of the club was sent to me via text but I do not know how to put it up on here. I wonder if they have an ad in Hotspots yet?

So I made it to Therapy on Friday night.

 

Neighborhood: The club is in downtown Miami - decently safe, up and coming area near the performing arts center. There are a few other clubs/bars/restaurants in the area. I was able to easily find street parking and there were a few lots as well.

 

Club/dancers: There is a big oval shaped bar when you walk right in. There is a dancer dancing away in the middle of the elevated bar so he isn't close enough to talk to or interact with. There is a stage in the middle of the club with another dancer - so two dancers on stages total with the rest mingling with the crowd. There were about 6-7 dancers total - one African-American, 2-3 Hispanics, and the rest white guys. I think all were straight except for one. The dancers didn't really work the crowd that much. They mostly congregated among themselves, talked to girls (maybe 10% of the crowd were female), and circled the one or two noticeably older customers. The crowd was younger - 20s and 30s. I found the drinks a bit pricey - $9 for a vodka soda. I got there around 10:30 and left at 1.

 

Matt -24, 6'2" straight, beautiful French-Canadian with a slight accent. Brown hair, green eyes. Smooth, muscular body, not huge bodybuilder type but the perfect amount of muscle. He was definitely the best looking dancer. I did a 15 mins VIP with him - $140 total: $40 for the house and "at least $100" for him. He got totally nude and we messed around. The 3 VIP rooms are on the left hand side of the club - the rooms are basically divided by a metal fence with a black mesh. There is another fence dividing the VIP area from the rest of the club. The room is also pretty big (small couch, table, chair) so it makes it tough to be intimate or close together. Since the VIP room is in the club, the lighting is the same and not that dark.

 

The rest of the dancers all had good bodies - a beefy muscle guy, shorter guy with an athletic build, tall twink, and the rest were muscled/athletic built.

 

Overall verdict on Therapy: It has some potential but they need more dancers and the dancers need to do a better job interacting with the crowd. But I think it will be tough for the dancers part of the club to survive with a younger-ish crowd. Two of the dancers mentioned that the younger crowd barely tips and rarely do VIP sessions.

 

 

Sunday night, I headed to Boardwalk - It was terrible; there were more dancers than customers. But Ricky (aka "Eddie Cambio" porn name) was there bartending but offered to do a lap dance and of course I took it. He was by far the hottest guy there. I've never seen that bar so dead before. But glad Ricky was there. I then passed by Johnny's - also terrible, full of tiny twinks, and yes, the incredibly annoying chubby Russian was there. I left after 10 minutes.

 

So then I decided to check out Swinging Richards in its new location. It's located in a warehouse district with just about nothing going on in that area. Almost thought I wouldn't find it but did. I think I like this layout better than in Aventura. I walk in and see a familiar face - Matt from Therapy. He said he didn't like Therapy and barely made any money so he wont be going back (apparently he only worked on Friday). We did another VIP session and it just felt better with a more secluded VIP room. Short story to a long post is Matt was definitely the best part of the weekend!

Thanks for the very complete report Mike. Too bad therapy is starting out weak. I hope they can turn it around so we have another option in Miami. I have a question. Was Matt Hungarian? If so he's probably the Matt that danced at the old SR location but that spent part of the summer dancing at Stock in Montreal. Thanks again for the report.

On SR, there are two bars on each end of the club. There is a long, rectangular stage in the middle between the bars for the dancers. Most patrons were sitting near the stage and at the bar. Behind the stage area is what seems to be a large seating area where food can be served (there was a buffet style serving area). No one was sitting in that area though and it was dark so tough to tell. There also seems be a VIP/bottle service area on the left hand side but no one was sitting there either. The VIP private room are behind the bar on the left. Apparently the private rooms and lap dance area are back there (according to Matt, the lap dance area has cameras but the private rooms don't). The private room had a couch, table and tv with porn playing. It felt pretty secluded and private. I did 15 mins and it was $140. I really didn't ask about the longer sessions cause I think I'm already being ripped off :)

 

There were probably about 8 dancers. I honestly didn't get a good look cause I saw Matt right away and we started chatting. And I left after our private show. From what I remember, the guys were big and muscular and mostly Hispanic. I had been to the old SR a few times but didn't recognize any of the ones at the new location.

Thanks for the great reportage ...and illustrated no less. Like they say, a pic is worth a 1,000 words. I can see why you were so smitten with Matt. Unfortunately, it sounds like he has moved on from Therapy to work at SR Pompano. FYI - the other dancer's pic, (Armani), is a regular from the old SR as well as sometime visitor to Adonis NYC and Stock Bar...I've seen him in all of those clubs. Guess it's hard to miss him with is distinctive tats.

 

I hope therapy can recruit a few good hotties to give some us stripper bar lovers more choices in S. Fla. Honestly, I hope they recruit some of the muscle dancers from Twist...which usually has plenty of muscle, but a terribly uncomfortable layout. They don't take it all off at Twist, so I suppose that might scare off some of the guys.

 

I would love to hear more about the line-up at SR. I checked out the grand opening photos and most of the dancers I saw in the photos didn't do much for me, but seeing someone like Matt would make it worth a trip.
