I got 11.83432% ... lower than I expected, but I suspect that being over 40 and not having been born in the US had a lot to do with it.

(mind you I was kind of pleased that my score came out to 5 decimal places ...)

I don't need a test to tell me such things~

I KNOW i'm a geek :) I've accepted this fact, i'm happy with it & i'm working at converting others to geekdom. If we were speaking in Mormon terms then consider this my 'mission.'

*transitioning*

and speaking of Mormons... Recently visited SLC and caught a glimpse of the church, BY's house, BYU, etc. Amazing. A little frightening, but amazing nonetheless.

Warmest Regards,

28.79684% - Total Geek

Sorry to disappoint you, Jeff. I thought i would get higher than that!!

I barely got a 6.7...% and the site said I was a POSER.

It reminds me of a time, not so long ago, when I accompanied Gio to a brunch where he and his friends mumbled on and on about "Ender's War" and "the sithi"... I sat by quietly studying the faces of each geek as they encouraged themselves and one another, each more confident in his encyclopedic knowledge of all things imaginary and scientific. The only thing that kept me from falling off my chair was that I had memories of having seen half the boys at the table in the nude. Thank god for geeky boys~ In high school I got them to do my homework and now I get the biggest one to tuck me in at night:9

At 4.9% I'm a "poser." On the other hand, I am a historian by profession, I go to museums voluntarily, and I own two computers. Right away, that puts me in the running, doesn't it?

You're so sweet... I wonder what a 0.0% on the test would be. I know you had to answer yes to most of those questions simply because I had put books in front of you by some of those authors and dragged you giggling and snickering to Star Wars and Star Trek movies. You're not a poser.. just indulgent to a super geek.

That was fun. I scored 17.94872% - Geek. The sad thing is I found so many things I don't have, do or know but WANT TO. YIKES

If you think visiting here is frightening, you should try living here! Now you know why I refer to it as Hatu (the backward state). BTW did you have a chance to try a couple of missionaries. They are a real treat!! }(

Mine was 19.7%. I may have cheated a little to get that high:

Does doing recording of concerts (instead of placing microphones for sound reinforcemnt) count as being an audio techie? and does doing so at an opera

win points for theatrical productions?

Does studying a computer language on your own count as studying a language on your own (I actually did not award that one to myself).

Does going to IETF meetings count as going to a con?

Does playing a concerto count as being "that guy" at a concert? (Deej may have that one in spades ...)

Does having written 5,000 lines of a widely distributed operating system

count as having created one? (did not give that one to myself).

Should they have given points for *never* watching TV due to either

working, hobby stuff or being naughty on web cam?

Does having been a math-physics double major in college count as

being a physicist? Does approximating your grocery bill in your head

before you get to the checkout counter count as doing physics problems?

If I wear a fanny pack to the gay pride parade and folsom street fair

(twice a year), does that count as wearing a fanny pack?

I only got 10.86 which surprised me as I spent a 40 + year career as a programmer/analyst/consultant/manager. I guess the fact that I am totally bored with sci/fiction and computer games was what kept my score so low. I figured that with a score of 800 on the SAT's in math and the profession I was in I would end up much higher than that.
