I have long been a top and more recently I have thought about learning how to bottom. I have always thought that most of the hottest porn movies were with stars who flip-flopped in them.

 

My question is... Why is there such a stigma when it comes to Porn Stars or Escorts Bottoming? Does it make them less of a man because they are on the bottom? Why does it ruin some careers when a porn star who has always been billed a "Top" and finally bottoms. I mean I think it is exciting that they are not always in the same role.. I look at stars like Flexx, Pavel, Ceasar, Eric Evans, Rob Cryston etc. I love all their movies and the fact that they take it in the ass makes them much more appealing to me. I mean if Mike Branson, Jeremy Penn or Marco Rossi bottomed (on film;) ) would you think less of them..

 

I noticed in my case..that out of 5 escorts that I may call who advertise as "Tops"..(3) can be talked into bottoming easily, (1) can be paid to bottom for the right price and the other one will never bottom for any reason but may allow a finger or two. There are those escorts who advertise as versitale.. which means top and bottom to me ..but will only top..and the guys who advertise or are reviewed as bottoms are usually twinkish in nature which personally is not my preference..Of course there are those muscular few exceptions.. ie Haus Weston, Kevin(Fl)..

 

I have been seeing on a regular basis a few muscular, beefy escorts who advertised as "Tops" and they have been botttoming for me for a while but I was instructed in all cases not to review them as bottoms. In 3 of those cases I can tell that they don't do it much because they are very tight.. That was fine with me but I always tell them they are awesome bottoms and if others knew they could make a mint. They don't want the "Stigma".. whatever that is, I don't ask as long as I am getting what I want.

My personal opinion..I think a lot of money can be made when one advertises as a top and a bottom..Porn Stars limit their audience when they are only known for one role..

In the case of porn stars, many are versatile from the start. But remember that they often don't invent their own "porn persona". The agents and studios get involved and decide how best to promote someone. In many cases a "total top" can lengthen his career for a few months by making that long-awaited bottom scene, even though in private he's been a fisting bottom for years.

 

There have been several "super top" stars who are actually bottoms in their private lives. And there have been some pretty good "bottom" stars who are actually str8. They perform as bottoms because it relieves the burden of getting hard with another man.

 

Those videos are just fantasies created by companies like Falcon who make a fortune from creating illusions.

 

Escorts aren't much different. They create illusions too.

In reading the reviews it seems as though the majority of escorts are tops and the clients are bottoms. I've always wondered why? Hey Godiva - good question. I have wondered about this myself for a long time. In my case, if anyone ever met me on the basketball court, competing in a triathlon, or just hanging out around DC someplace, the last thing they would think is that I am, god forbid, a bottom. In fact, in less I am in a notoriously "gay" area of DC, people don't even have a clue that I am gay at all. Girls hit on me and guys think I am just another one of their straight buds. But, low and behold, I like to get fucked!

 

Yeah, some guys who love to stick labels on things think of being a bottom as synonymous with being a wimp, but it certainly isn't the case all of the time. The stigma is still out there, though. Until some of the overly macho gay guys become a little more comfortable with their own sexuality and a little less quick to cut down someone they perceive as weak or too feminine, it will continue to be a negative conotation, unfortunately.

The fact that they don't want to be known as bottoms could be because of the "stigma" that I already spoke of, but it could also be something else. There are certainly a lot of "top only" guys out there who have watched a few too many porn flicks and think that every bottom guy can take an hour long (or longer) pounding like they have watched the supposed bottoms doing in the movies. Well, did it ever occur to anyone that those scenes are usually not all filmed in one take and that the bottom, who is seemingly getting gang fucked by four or five other guys, may not really be getting fucked that long or that hard? Or, if he is, maybe he is just a one in a million kind of guy that can take that kind of abuse?

 

Some escorts do not want to be known as bottoms, not because of the stigma associated with the practice, but because of the acute pain in the ass that is sometimes caused by over zealous clients. It can be a good idea to be known only as a top and avoid other tops who have never been a bottom and do not completely understand the whole concept of being gentle and not slamming it in with no preparation or care.

I'm a top as well and always ask if the guy will bottom even though he advertises and/or has been reviewed as a top. However, I always make it clear that I'm more into making out and oral, so that lack of bottoming isn't a deal killer. A lot of guys respond that they will consider bottoming under the right circumstances, and I've found that those circumstances typically involve just being treated nicely (in such cases, I leave it to the escort to bring it up in the session, and it's great when they just reach over and slip the condom on you and smile wickedly like it's what they really wanted to do in the first place).

In my experience, it always pays to ask. Some of my best times have been getting escorts who advertise as tops to bottom. A lot of "big" muscular guys turn out to be size queens. That used to surprise me, but not any more. One theory that I have heard is that some of those big guys don't want to be topped by little Woody Allan-types.

Great thread. I think the stigma comes from our making a parallel between gay sex and straight sex, ergo, the top is the man and the bottom is the woman. Some tops may like to think that they're really not gay at all. I understand that this delusion is typical is certain cultures where men traditionally have sex together, but the only shame is attached to the bottom (i.e. middle eastern culture).

Of course this is all hogwash, but I think that's the origin of the feeling. I'm often amused by interviews with "straight" pornstars who, nevertheless, easily get boners to have sex with other men, either as bottoms or tops, yet they still claim to be straight. It's another delusion, perhaps based on the idea that sex is purely mechanical. I will add my two "top" cents into this discussion, for what it's worth.

 

I don't bottom much. When I first started out in this business I thought that I needed to be versatile. So, I tried it for a while, but it just wasn't my thing to do well. I am sure I disappointed a few clients in my early years by begging them to stop. They mistook my groans for moans. After that, I completely gave it up. Hurt too much, and I was so sore the next day. And besides, I have a "knowing and craving" for topping a man. I know where my talents lie.
