Instead on focusing on things we hate I thought I'd do something else. I had to think of the happiest moment in my life.

Believe it or not, I was hitchhiking to get to a birthday. I was standing next to the road waiting to be picked up, I hardly had a dime in my pocket, the weather was fabulous, and most of all, I didn't have a worry in the world. I was the happiest guy around and so far it was the happiest moment in my life.

Wow...you certainly have a very positive outlook on life. That would have been my worst. Actually, it would be my worst. People think hitchhikers steal from people? No people still from hitchhikers too.

Assuming I'm invited to this thread since I assume it was mine that is being re-focused on, I'd probably say the happiest time in my life was when I graduated high school. It marked a new beginning of freedom, free thoughts, and free-minds. No longer would I have my cellphone taken away on a lunch-break and have to have a parent come pick it up (I'd hope they got rid of that by now). College graduations feel different because afterwards you have debt and the prospect of looking for a new job or furthering the education...and it doesn't end with 1 or 2 degrees.

Next to that would be my first overnight appointment, and the settlement check from the insurance company.

Wow - that must have been one helluva of an overnight appointment to have the insurance company get involved! I've had strenuous evenings but never anything that required a settlement check from an insurance company. All I can say is, "Joey, you're the MAN! ;-)

Besides my daughter's birth it would have to be adopting my retired racing Greyhound. I'm nuts about dogs anyhow, but there's something very special about Greyhounds. Life would be a lot sadder without my hound.

I just thinking about this. Since I have no kids or pets, most of these are moments of euphoria rather than deep happiness.

-Meeting a guy I really fell for.

-Getting into college (a goal I'd had since I was ten)

-Getting into my PhD program

It's always interesting to hear about 'us men' having children. I'll never date one who has any again...but it's interesting. Certainly a blessing for you and greyhounds are such wonderful companions. When I was in Tampa, they had the greyhound racing track near where I lived. What they did with them after they lost a race was controversial.

Getting married last August to my husband. This was my first long-term relationship (over six years now) and getting married wasn't something I'd either live to see or experience personally. I was wrong on both counts and very happy for that! :)

they were 2 separate events...obviously.

The first time I kissed my partner of 18 years.

I'm sure that was romantic. Now let's take that up a notch and get a little kinky. Probably one of the best 'feelings' I've gotten was with the first guy I became involved with long-term...Having someone cum in my mouth for the first time was just a feeling that can't be describe in writing. Just something about not knowing what it would taste like. Neither wine nor spirit can compare.

So many from which to choose, it's hard to narrow down. They usually involve travel. Now here's an odd one, but for what it's worth:

The major adrenalin rush / giddy feeling I'd get from riding roller coasters when I was a preteen and teenager. The feeling from that was so euphoric. I continued to ride coasters into my early 40s, but after college age, I didn't get the same euphoric buzz from it as I did around age 12 or so.

I still find amusement parks to be a delightful thing, though my riding days are over.

Congratulations- while very late-I wish you and he all the best happiness. I'm envious- but in a good way only.

As for me- probably several- when I was 20- and met/got to hold my nephew for the 1st time, graduation from graduate school at 28, holding my twin great-nephews for the 1st time ( sons' of my nephew ) at the age of 50.

And one bittersweet memory- meeting a guy at 51 whom I thought was going to be my 1st boyfriend- amazed he was interested because he was waaayyy out of my league. But unfortunately that turned out to be a pipe dream I still haven't recovered from.

Money has never made me happy. Legos... now that's a different story.

And getting a set of my favorite books for Christmas.

I've had this question rattling around in my brain case... also when I came out at 19 and realized I had someone to talk to about being gay.

Happiest moments:

1. The day I came out to my best friend in high school, and he told me he was gay, too.

2. The day I moved into my first apartment of my own, went out to buy some things, and met the guy who became my first partner on the street outside my door.

3. The day I met my current partner.

4. The surprise 35th birthday party for me that my partner organized.

5. My big retirement party (I loved my job, but it was even better having my colleagues tell me how much they would miss me).

6. My partner's big retirement party (he didn't love his job, but we both loved his colleagues telling him how much they would miss him).

7. The day we arrived in Palm Springs to begin a new life in the sunshine.

And I keep thinking of others...

Charlie you're cheating. It is the "happiest MOMENT" in your life...but I loved your list anyway. Very endearing and romantic....especially #2,#3, and #7

This was a great one to read. I love dogs and the one we currently have enormously. Awesome for your hound and you that you have each other.

Thanks for sharing. Some of us too often get caught up thinking about what we have that's not enough or what we want and can't wait to get. Worry free, healthy and a nice day. What a great outlook you had/have! I believe you'll live a longer life for it :)

I'm sorry to read about that. Not to worry you but ever thought he was thinking you were way out of his league? Anyway...his replacement is waiting for you to make the first move...so get on it ! (and I mean that like "get at it"...work on that task...on this board ya gotta be clear or someones mind will think of it some other way) :)
