Hi,

I'm thinking of visiting these three cities soon and would appreciate any feedback/insights from clients and escorts into the following:

1) What part of town should I stay in to be the most accessible for in calls?

2) Can I get away with just doing in calls and/or out calls within cab distance? Which is another way of asking, can I get by without renting a car?

3) Other than this site, what are the main ways clients find out about contacting escorts in these cities? Where's the best place to advertise? (Is David Atlanta good for Atlanta? I see Gay Chicago Magazine makes you register in person to advertise, which obviously wouldn't work for me my first visit...any alternatives?) Do people use Rentboy and MeetLocalMen a lot in these cities?

4) This question is almost broad enough to be meaningless, but based on what you've heard, how do visiting escorts do in these towns?

5) Anything else you can think of...thanks!

As a business traveler, that hires when traveling, to both Chicago and Atlanta here's my 2 cents worth.

In Chicago I stay downtown and never have had a problem getting escorts to come to my hotel there. I use to stay out by O'Hare and a couple of regulars I had seen, recommended I start staying downtown. Some of the locals may suggest the Boystown area? The L train seems to also get you to most areas you'd need to go.

In Atlanta I'd suggest the Midtown area. That's were I stay when I intend to hire an escort. Again, the locals may have other thoughts.

I just might make a special trip to Chiacgo to see ya'.}(

Hi,

>1) What part of town should I stay in to be the most

The bulk of the gay population lives in central Phoenix, but the majority of gay men with money live in Scottsdale or Paradise Valley. That's a haul from downtown.

>2) Can I get away with just doing in calls and/or out calls

>within cab distance? Which is another way of asking, can I

>get by without renting a car?

Here, probably not.

>3) Other than this site, what are the main ways clients find

>out about contacting escorts in these cities? Where's the

The local escorts all advertise in Xfactor, one of our local gay papers. Advertise in both the print and online versions. Xfactor comes out weekly. Advertise a couple weeks before you show up and that will help you determine whether you need a car or not. If all your calls end up being in Troon (a real place) you will need a car.

>4) This question is almost broad enough to be meaningless, but

>based on what you've heard, how do visiting escorts do in

Wildly variable. Most visiting guys don't market themselves well here. I always seem to notice that possibly interesting guys were here after the fact.

>5) Anything else you can think of...thanks!

Want some suggestions on non-escort activities while you're here?

I thought Devon created this post to ask about information on various cities for his work. Instead, Rick hijacks it to promote his ass pic. I thought he had covered his new ass promotion in his brilliantly conceived "humilitation" post to promote himself, his ass and his business.

Devon buddy, it's just sad that more escorts can't post or discuss topics on this board without the Golden Child eclipsing them with his selfishness.(He calls it humor to deflect from the obvious)

Rick, show us your face. Come on, you've managed to grab the county fair trophy for escort of the year a few times & remain king of the board. Expand your business! Just show us your face while you're working on those new ass photos & honing your stab at gay erotic fiction. (By the way, your new ass pic looks just like the last one...a hairy cracked, 40 year old ass.)

Topics on this message board are edited or deleted constantly except for Rick's blatant off the topic promotions of his loose hole. Why is everything he does here to hijack or steal another escorts two seconds of spotlight overlooked?

AS a client, I have visited Chicago and Atlanta on several occasions and always stay in the gay-friendly areas. In Chicago this means Boystown, Halstead area on the near Northside, I guess you would call it. Some of the hot escorts I have engaged are located there and the restaurants, bars and saunas are right in the hood. Also no car needed. If you need to get to a big hotel downtown, you take a taxi (only rush-hour might be a hassle).

In Atlanta, stay in mid-town, near 10th. This is a very gay-friendly hood, with bars, restaurants, saunas etc.,all with-in walking distance (at least for me, I can walk forever!) Again, no car needed and downtown isn't too far away. But once you get on the freeways, traffic is a mess at rush hours.

In Phoenix, can't help you there, never been there but my gay step-bro lives in Scottsdale and from what another poster has said so do most of the other gays there (and Paradise Valley, don't you just luv that name!):p

Re: Chicago -

Luv2play is right about Boystown, otherwise known as Lakeview. Wrigleyville is almost the same thing, ditto Lincoln Park. (You may have heard, Chicago is a city of neighborhoods.)In any of those neighborhoods, and certainly on down toward the Mag Mile and the Loop, you can hail a taxi on the street. They're plentiful here. Fares in any of these areas would be five bucks or less, I'm thinking.

Further north, in Andersenville, you'll find a handful of gay establishments like Man's Country and Madrigals.

Check out a recent thread here on hotels in Chicago.

If you have the time, I highly recommend the Architecture Foundation Boat Tour. It feels leisurely but you get a healthy dollop of city history along with a surprisingly intimate view of a great deal of Chicago's Loop and near environs.

Have fun.

Gay Chicago Magazine will take your ad without a personal visit. They've done it for others. Write to [email protected] for information. They put that in the magazine because the publisher used to ... err ... trade free advertising for ... err ... services. ;-)

Most guys will appreciate your being in boystown. As someone else said, that's the Broadway/Clark/Halstead area. Although, downtown isn't a big deal for most people.

You will most definitely want a car in Chicago. The L is good for getting from downtown to boystown, but if you're doing outcalls Chicago and suburbs cover a huge geographical area.

If you go for boystown, the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace is in the heart of boystown, reasonably priced, steps from the clubs, and several working guys I've recommended it to have said it was perfect for their needs. (There aren't many rooms in that hotel I haven't been in! LOL) There's also a Days Inn, Comfort Inn, and a cute place called the Willows within blocks.

Another advantage to the boystown hotels is they won't bat an eye at your having visitors. The downtown hotels don't either, usually, but you're more likely to bump into it. If you go for downtown, the Clarion on Wacker Drive seemed to work well, and what's not to love about a hotel on Wacker drive? ;-)

Then it really would be my kinda town... :9

Devon,

I have lived in Chicago most of my life... except the last few here in the 415. Make sure you have some pizza when in town. And NO, people in Chicago do not eat "Chicago Style" deep-dish pizza, but instead regular thin-crust that is much better than any in SF ( or any other part of the USA -- not than I am biased).

If you decide to do only incalls at your hotel, you can probably do without a car. A shared shuttle van to downtown is easy. As is the blue line train, less than $2.00 from O'Hare to downtown. Places to eat, shop, and bars are close by with a short walk or a short taxi.

You cannot depend on public transit, especially nights and weekends. If you plan outcalls, then a car will be needed. The chicagoland area is vast, although most gay men live on the north side of Chicago. But, some do live Oak Park, west burbs, northwest burbs, and Evanston. All these places would be impossible via public bus/trains. Taxis would be cost prohibitive. I would suggest incalls only at your hotel, and don't get a car. The parking is costly, and car rentals always seem to be very high in Chicago.

As for locations to stay, I suggest Michigan Av, River North, or "the Loop". These three would be considered downtown, and the Loop being the central business/financial area. The loop is kinda dead at night as offices empty out. River North and Mich Ave have lots going on. All three have many nice business class hotels..chains and smaller boutique type hotels. Michigan Ave area is probably the best for a visitor, as is tourist friendly, lots of shopping and places to eat within walking distance. Also very easy to get a taxi. These three places are about a 15 min, $8 taxi ride to "boystown".

Priceline or hotwire usually have good deals for these areas on the weekends. Request the above areas for results, better, just River North and maybe you will get Westin River North, very nice hotel.

I do not suggest airport area hotels as you will be isolated, nothing to walk to, and 45-60 mins from downtown or boystown. Also, avoid staying in any area of south Loop, South side, Evanston - or any suburb, as you will be too far away from clients and the gay area.

Mentioned was staying in boystown. While in the heart of things, the area is not geared toward tourists. Only couple hotels/motels in the area, like Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Ramada Inn, and they are just ok.

I think men get escort leads from the internet and also much from the papers like Gay Chicago. The paper will not work for you, as mentioned.

>Preparing for moderator deletion,

Well, you can stop preparing because this isn't going to get deleted. Contrary to what one of your fellow acidic posters has recently claimed, I am not "protected" on here by any means. Just the opposite...I'm periodically trashed or criticized. Posts do get deleted when they attack posters other than me (just the other day, Daddy deleted a post from trilingual directed at axebahia, with the notation, "Please don't attack other users!" That's a courtesy that's never been given me, presumably because I can take care of myself here, which is true). The only time a post about me was ever deleted was when it contained personal information. Speaking of personal information, I happen to know who you are, Southern Blue Suicide, and your motives here are really transparent. They say jealousy is a form of flattery, though, so to that I say, "thanks."

P.S. The hole isn't 40 and it's tight. Thanks for giving me another opportunity to say that. :p

When in Atlanta I stay at the Granada Suites Hotel at 1302W Peachtree near the 10th Street exit of the I-75. It is a renovated 1930's Spanish style building that has large rooms and suites at reasonable prices. It's right in the heart of gay-friendly mid-town and I have never had any trouble having escorts visit me there. It has an internet room altho I use my own laptop in my room. And you can walk to great restaurants like Big Red Tomato, good food and great looking customers, tres gai!:p

Howdy,

Best gay bar: Amsterdam

Bars where one is most likely to score: Roscoes or Padlock

Gay dance club: Boom (hire a security guard to watch your car, bad neighborhood).

Gay papers: Echo, Xfactor, IONAZ, Heatstroke.

Good places to eat: Oreganos, Portland, Durants, Richardson's, Houstons, Phoenix City Grill, Wright's at the Arizona Biltmore (expensive) Harris Ranch (expensive). (All in Phoenix) Worth mentioning: Hamburger Mary's. (The food isn't as good as the original).

Places to eat in Scottsdale: Cowboy Ciao (my favorite place in these parts), Malee's on Main (Thai), AZ88, Raz, Pink Pony (one of the oldest restaurants in Scottsdale, a baseball hangout, Ibiza Cafe, plus others. (You'll impress locals if you know about AZ88, but you won't be able to find it the first time without a guide.)

Depending on when you're here, take in a Giants game during Spring Training.

Some cultural spots worth seeing: Talesin West (Frank Lloyd Wright's western workshop. Right by my house, let me know and I'll join you.) The Phoenix Art Museum has a couple of worthwhile permanent collections.

Hotels: This is peak season here, so rates will be high.

Shopping: Places all over. Downtown Scottsdale has interesting but vastly over-priced galleries, tons of interesting stores. The Biltmore Mall is good for boy watching. The Scottsdale Fashion Mall is huge and has a little something for everyone.

Best tour guide: me.

Downtown Phoenix is mostly a wasteland compared to real cities.

Keep me posted on where you decide to stay, when you'll be here, etc. If you're near the gym I use, I'll score you a two week free pass for your use while here. Be happy to join you for a drink or dinner or whatever if you have a free moment while here, assuming I'm in town.

Hope you have a successful and enjoyable visit. Let me know if I can assist you in any way while you're here.

Thanks for all the info! It looks like River North is folded into the North Michigan Ave. zone on Priceline. HooBoy's gotten me hooked on http://www.biddingfortravel.com and one thing that's great about it is they post what hotels at what star levels have received winning bids. In the North Michigan Ave. zone, depending on the dates and Priceline's inventory, people have been getting 4-star hotel rooms for between $46 and $70 a night! Which is probably less than I'd be paying at those Boystown locations (according to biddingfortravel they don't seem to take Priceline bids) for presumably less snazzy digs. I think I'll four-star it downtown and take that $8 cab ride... ;)

Devon,

I have to agree with Ant. Stick with No. Michigan aka Magnificant (Mag) Mile Hotels and cab to Boyztown. You will be in walking distance of most everything including the Lake and Navy Pier. A very nice bar, Gentry's on State is a short walk as well as is the Baton Show Lounge for one of the best drag shows.

The Boyztown hotels....City Suites, The Willows and Best Western Hawthorne Terrace are mediocre at best. The Majestic is a great European style hotel but on a residential street making the closest public parking for your clients some 4 blocks away. Since these are really the only places in Boyztown w/e's are expensive and usually booked.

In Atlanta, Midtown is the best area; Downtown should be avoided (nothing to do & locals don't go there). The Colony Square Sheraton is in northern Midtown and well known as the host to Circuit parties. It's also a nice hotel. You can take MARTA to the Colony Square (Arts Center stop), although the short walk is a bit confusing. Atlanta is a car bound city and the transit system isn't as user friendly as it should be. OTOH, Atlanta is a terrible place to drive (the layout is disorienting & streets tend to be badly marked and you often find yourself in the wrong lane), so you're better off w/o a car if you can manage it. The bars are clustered in several areas, including some that are sort of walkable from Colony Square (in & around a strip mall, which is very Atlanta); others are convenient to the 10th Street MARTA stop. Unless you're interested in a very generic gay scene, Atlanta will disappoint. OTOH, the escorts here tend to be flaky &/or ripoff artists, so you will be most appreciated, businesswise.

"David" is filled with the same ads from week to week; that will make you stand out. OTOH, someone looking for a fresh face is probably looking on the net.

For some reason, Atlanta posters on gay boards are assholes---this area is big on talking about politeness, but not delivering. Still, you shouldn't judge this town by its posters, although frankly, you also shouldn't judge it from its ridiculous hype, either.

Mid-Michigan Avenue is probably your best bet in Chicago; accessible by L; a reasonable cab ride (in cost & time) from Boystown. The Intercontinetal is a favorite of mine, but you can't go wrong with any of the chain hotels or the better known smaller hotels in the area. The Boystown hotels are mostly converted SROs---the area used to be filled with flophouses and was a dumping ground for the deinstutionalized mentally ill. These converted SROs are okay for a personal stay, but not places where I'd advise doing business. Chicago is a blast and worth more of your time than ATL. I've lived in both places and if I could move my job to Chicago, I'd be gone in a flash.

Thanks to everybody for all the great advice so far! I took BofN's advice and asked SmallTown John for his about Atlanta, and he turned out to be a gold mine of info. I hope he won't mind my paraphrasing him a little bit, but he had some things to say that wouldn't have occurred to me. The biggest surpise: he did NOT recommend staying in Midtown, but rather in the Perimeter/Sandy Springs area, since a lot of businessmen travel there and since a lot of his local clients are from towns right around there. It also sounds like getting a car would be the thing to do since a lot of the potential biz is from out calls. Luckily there are great deals to be had on hotels so renting a car wouldn't jack up the cost of going there too much.

Any other tips, keep 'em coming... :-)

Sandy Springs, etc. may be "lucrative", but you can find yourself immobilized in traffic for enormous amounts of time. Ask SmallTownJohn how to negotiate GA400, I-285, and the major cross streets during rush hour when there's been an accident. And rush hour in that area can last from 4 until well after 7. I can regale you with stories of trips from meetings in that area where the communte home took forever and most of the problem was getting away from the Perimeter (I-285) and the arterials.

Hmm...what's traffic in Atlanta like on the weekends?
