Great list, but why, oh why, would you list Best in Show and A Mighty Wind, but not Waiting for Guffman (by far the best of the three!)?

I love most older movies (can't get enough of TCM) and my "go to" for a pick-me-up are any of the "Thin Man" movies.

Your go-to movie when you need a little "pick-me-up," and you're all out of dolls—I mean—aspirin.

My heart goes out to anyone who suffers from depression. If only a good movie could fix that illness.

I haven't had a cold in a very long time but, if I'm in bed with the sniffles and I'm looking for a jolt, any drag scene from Mrs. Doubtfire will get me howling. The rest of the movie is a thumbs down.

I think comedies are the most difficult movies to make. In a stage theater, you can tell if a line is funny by the audience's reaction. On a movie set, not so reliable. And then once you watch a funny scene, the humor often loses impact (much like a sex scene in porn) the second and third time around.

Max, the only movie on your list I've seen more than once is "Bullets Over Broadway." Brilliant film. Always funny. There are scenes in Woody Allen's "Hollywood Ending" that always make me pee my pajamas.

If by "pick-me-up" you mean heart rush, I've seen the first two "Alien" films a hundred times. I've seen Matt Damon in the Bourne series about as much. Love movies that offer a cardio workout.

Let's see: I'll just list what immediately came to mind:

Ben Hur

Casablanca

Sound of Music

Have you seen the new blu-ray version of Ben Hur? I had forgotten what a good movie it is until I saw this fantastic version.

Soapdish

My Favorite Year

Airplane!

The Commitments

Moulin Rouge!

Tootsie

I forgot about "Soapdish," one of my favorite movies EVER. I think I need to take a trip across the George Washington Bridge today. (it's a crutch! it's just a crutch!)

By p-m-u, I mean a comedy—but I love me some SW myself. I have to be in a specific mood to watch those two movies though.

Silver Streak - Mel Brooks

Men In Black - Not sure it is a comedy

Lethal Weapon - Love to see Mel Gibson get beat up (I know kinda sick - but at the time anyone with that pretty of a face needs a little humilation)

Legally Blonde has cheered me up, and gotten me to giggle, every single time. I had hopes for Mamma Mia, but it doesn't work quite as well. And for some reason, I am always pleasantly distracted by Out of Africa.
